I'm assuming you're joking, but if not the official NFL website even says $20.7 million.

Hell, the team has $141.6 million on the books and the salary cap isn't expected to go up that much from the current $120 million ceiling. Do the math mane.

Good luck next season. I'm sure you'll do great. You've got your coach back after all

Next Big Thing 02-14-2013 04:56 AM

In all honesty, the Saints should be alright. That offense under Brees will still be one of the best in the NFL and they'll probably compete for a wild card.

Droford 02-14-2013 05:28 AM

Saints are .500 at best just lucky for them im not sure the bucs or panthers are much better overall

James Steele 02-14-2013 05:50 AM

I seriously wonder how the Cowboys are going to avoid an epic clusterfuck of utter failure this year. $21 Million over the salary cap on top of all their problems they need to address (OL, DB, QB, GM, President, Owner).

Ermaximus 02-14-2013 02:39 PM

Maybe Jerry Jones should play QB?

Joe flacco has started at 80 regular season games for the ravens since 2008

Troy smith was his backup in 09
Tyrod Taylor was his backup this past year

All depends on how he can help the defense... they need to pick up some good defensive players in the draft, however, most mock drafts are projecting that Tennessee is going to draft Alabama G Chance Warmack. I guess they also need some work on the O-Line as well.

<font color=goldenrod>The Giants signed former Cowboys kicker David Buehler. Mainly insurance in case Tynes (an impending free agent) goes elsewhere.

Buehler was Dallas' kickoff specialist...so it stands to reason he's probably got a stronger leg than Tynes anyway.</font>

<article> <header> Titans 2013 schedule: Easier slate expected next season

By Matt Rybaltowski | CBSSports.com
<time class="storyDate" pubdate="" datetime="2013-01-02T06:12:00Z">January 2, 2013 1:12 am ET</time>
</header> In 2012, the Tennessee Titans arguably had the most challenging early-season schedule of any team in the NFL. In 2013, the Titans could receive a bit of a reprieve.
With a third-place schedule, the Titans opponents' next season have a .500 winning percentage in games from the 2012 regular season. Tennessee will play seven teams next year that will be coming off a losing season, including the Chiefs (2-14), Jaguars (2-14), Raiders (4-12) and Cardinals (5-11). This season, the Titans faced six teams that finished with 10 wins or more.
The most intriguing game of the season could be against the Rams in St. Louis. It will be the first time that former Titans coach Jeff Fisher (1994-2010) will face his old team since becoming the head coach of the Rams in 2012. Former Titans DB Cortland Finnegan leads a Rams' secondary that finished the regular season with the 10th highest interception rate in the league.
When the Titans travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks, it will be a homecoming of sorts for QB Jake Locker. The Titans' starting quarterback grew up in Ferndale, Wash. and played collegiately at the University of Washington. Backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is the Seahawks' all-time franchise leader in career completions.
Titans 2013 schedule
Home: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Chiefs, Chargers, Cardinals, 49ers, Jets.
Away: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Broncos, Raiders, Rams, Seahawks, Steelers.
For more up-to-the-minute news and analysis on the Tennessee Titans, follow Matt Rybaltowski @CBSTitans.

I think the Ravens are probably one of the luckiest teams ever considering Flacco is not even in the top 10 in most QB categories in the regular season except tied for 8th with Sam Bradford and Ryan Tannehill being sacked 35 times, 10th in sacked yds lost (227), tied for 10th with Tom Brady in yds per completed pass (12.0), tied for 5th with Nick Foles and Peyton Manning in interception percentage (1.9%), 5th in game winning drives (4), and tied for 3rd with Sam Bradford, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson in comebacks (4). Probably the luckiest playoff run ever in my honest opinion.

<font color=goldenrod>I don't even know what the Giants will be able to do. Currently they're projected at being around $7 million under the 2013 cap - but they'd like to re-sign Beatty and Bennett while also extending Cruz or Nicks. Gonna need to free up more space to even get that done.

Cutting Webster would save about $7 million off the 2013 cap, cutting Diehl would save around $5 million. Would seem like cutting both would be a no-brainer, but it hasn't happened yet. Making me think maybe the Giants want to keep both of them as long as they significantly restructure and take a pay cut.</font>

Ravens might give Flacco the "non-exclusive" franchise tag, which means other teams will have a swing at signing Joey Brows. GO KEIM GO. RUN.

Nark Order 02-24-2013 06:25 PM

Lol. He wins the Super Bowl and still nobody has enough faith in him to cash out.

Droford 02-24-2013 06:46 PM

Quote:

At current levels of top-five quarterback pay, Flacco’s tender as of April 19 would lock in at $20.464 million. That would make Flacco eligible for a 2014 franchise tender of $24.55 million, based on the rule guaranteeing a franchise player a 20-percent raise upon the second use of the tag.

And then, if the Ravens were to use the franchise tag for a third time in 2015, Flacco would be eligible to receive a 44-percent raise. Which would translate to a franchise tender of $35.36 million.

That’s a three-year haul of $80.37 million. Which, under the exclusive tag, becomes the starting point on a long-term deal

With the non-exclusive tag, which starts at roughly $14.6 million in 2013, the three-year total would be $57.34 million ($14.6 million with a 20-percent raise will be $17.52 million in 2014, which grows to $25.23 million with a 44-percent raise in 2015).

So while the difference between the non-exclusive tag and the exclusive tag amounts to less than $6 million in 2013, the gap by 2015 will be $23 million. And the total difference over three years will be $36 million.
They can't pay flacco $35 million a year..not happening..that's why they will go non exclusive. They can match any other teams offer and if they don't they get 2 first round draft picks.

Emperor Smeat 02-24-2013 08:16 PM

Star Lotulelei might have to back out of this year's draft after recent medical tests red flagged him with a serious heart condition that was never discovered while in college.

Was being projected anywhere between #1 overall to #5 for this year's draft.

Brady and Patriots agree to a new 3-year contract extension worth $27 million.

Brady gets his goal of wanting to play until he's 40 (2017) and the Pats get their goal of freeing up more cap space ($21 million overall) for the next few years.

Baring a serious injury, also ensures Ryan Mallet has a few more years to develop and to get his O line ready for when he takes over.

Droford 02-25-2013 11:19 PM

Why would mallet stay in ne for 5 more years with little to no hope of bring the starting qb.

Emperor Smeat 02-25-2013 11:35 PM

Same reasons Steve Young (4) and Aaron Rodgers (3) staid for years as backups to great QBs. Only difference is Mallet waiting a few more years but he's another 1-2 years away from even being starter worthy.

Rodgers might have waited even longer if Farve didn't kept teasing retirement.

Matt Cassel was also 3 years but would have been longer if Brady didn't get hurt in 08.

Droford 02-26-2013 04:35 PM

The Brady deal saved the ravens almost a million this year if they use the exclusive tag since it dropped Brady out of the top 5 qbs. If either of the mannings, brees, Stafford or roethisberger restructure it would save them more.

weather vane 02-26-2013 04:48 PM

Really hope the Falcons stay away from the free agent running backs this year. Jackson is intriguing, but I wonder about his age and Shonn Greene just doesn't do it for me. Plenty of breakout backs in the draft in my opinion.

Emperor Smeat 02-27-2013 02:23 PM

The 49ers managed to have around 11-15 draft picks for this year from all the stock piling they've been doing recently.

Next Big Thing 02-27-2013 02:29 PM

Getting the first pick in the 2nd round for Smith is money for the 49ers. The beauty of the NFL draft is how deep it is and how first round talent goes beyond the first round sometimes, although the new rumor is that it puts the 9ers in prime position to put together a package for Revis or Harvin. Either way, they're in a damn good spot.

I just heard this on the radio on the way home from work.. You were talking all that shit about the Saints cap room, yet Brees, Vilma and Smith are about to restructure and guys like Colston, Grubbs, and Evans already have..

Our probowlers want to play here while the Falcons are hemorrhaging yr leading rusher, sacker, and tackler..

They didn't feed him the ball enough.. He had 100 less carries than the year before so his total yards fell off, but he only had one less TD..

Even in 08 when he had 1700 yards he had 17 TD's but he carried the ball close to 150 times more..

Kris P Lettus 03-01-2013 07:12 PM

They pretty much cut a third of his carries so his yards per season went down a third..

Similar TD total and similar yards per carry..

I agree. Michael Turner is a corpse.

3.6 ypc is a pretty big drop off no matter how many touches, plus throw in his huge contract, his age, Jacquizz Rogers and the "he's burnt out/done for" argument from the "experts", Falcons fans etc and that doesn't seem to equate to a guy that anybody should be too worried about releasing

Kris P Lettus 03-01-2013 07:54 PM

And he had 130 more regular season touches..

Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a six-year contract worth $120.6 million that makes Flacco the highest paid player in NFL history, a source familar with deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Also tops in terms of per year since its more than Brees average of about $20 million per year. In terms of jump, its also huge going from $6.7 million last year to now around $20.1 million next season.
