Yeah but each one is only good for one level. Hence the option to buy 5 at once, I guess.
According to Bethesda, specs and more details regarding the PC version likely won't be announced till around October the latest.

Season Pass costing $30 was announced by Bethesda.

eff season passes...
Yeah gotta say I don't like the season pass business model. Just seems like a waste of money to me.
That shit should be included with CE. If you're a big enough fan to want a Pip Boy, you should be rewarded.
Shelter has turned me into a monster on par with Vault-Tec's experiments. I started well. Suffered through deathclaw maulings, a lot of freakin' molerat infestations (and subsequent electricity shortages because of the little bastards eating through my ample surplus), intentional fires from failed rushes for caps, and through it all, I've achieved a happy vault full of fairly skilled and semi-heavily armed inhabitants. But the damned lunchboxes taunt me. And between the baby factory prompting, the "happy accidents" from trying to get dwellers to dance, then not being able to stop them because an incident springs up and they end up screwing when the focus shifts to the other end of the vault, and the radio room, I am now full to capacity. And there are so many of the "special" dwellers I have yet to collect from lunchboxes. So, I've been sending dwellers off to die in the wilderness... alone, unarmed, unequipped... so that I can remove them from the population so it can drop below the cap and possibly get better dwellers from lunchboxes. If I send off 3 more, I might get someone from this lunchbox... oh, sweet! It's Bittercup! Worth it! I'm a horrible overseer. And it's thanks to the lunchboxes. |
I kind of like that season passes exist these days. Not that I would ever buy them before all the DLC is out, but what tends to happen is that they'll be reduced in a sale and are already cheaper than buying all the DLC separately, so if the content is good, it's good to get at a decent price.
The problem with the Season Pass notion, though, is that it it is usually never "hey, you people like this game? Well, shit, we can make more content for it then, how about that?" and is instead shit they already worked on and just plain left it out to sell separately. Prime example is in New Vegas, Ulysses was supposed to be a follower similar to Boone, except with Legion ties instead of NCR. But they played the "space constraints" card and just tossed him into some DLC. Now, Bethesda has been doing *good* DLC, and usually not blatant cash grabs (except the whole "second ending" for Fallout 3 thing).
Yes, they have a higher percentage of "good" DLC to shit ones than your average game, but you're still being asked to essentially pay $90 for the "entire" game... when the "entire" game eventually reveals itself. and that's pre collectors edition or any other bells and whistles. Or wait about a year and buy the eventual GotY edition you know is coming for the same price the vanilla launched at. |
Most people wait for the the Game of the Year for FallOut DLC anyways right? There will be plenty of shit to do before going for it.
Okay, so what you're saying is, you'll buy the game at launch, play it for a year, then buy it again at full retail just because it included DLC? That's dumber, and more expensive, than buying each bit separately. And you end up with the same game twice.
It's usually 20 bucks by the time I pick it up. Wait til the Game of the Year becomes a Xbox hit.
Death claws just took out like 35 percent of my 90 team crew.
Not sure if I want to leave them to revive or just write them off.

They only hit the entrance and the rooms on the end once, and every other room twice. Best scavenged guns are equipped on the top of the vault, and with 2 dwellers in SINGLE SQUARE rooms , it makes it easier to stimpak them without 2 or 3 standing on top of eachother, and the menaces hit each room, so more smaller rooms mean more stops. Raiders never make it past the second room. Deathclaws are pretty much contained to the first floor, and wiped out before they make it back to the elevator shaft. |
Heard it happens when you open your door when you have a radio station.
Those greatly increase the chances, but they still can happen at random in the way random in-vault incidents happen even without a rush fail.
Expectation: Hoping they don't job the Brotherhood of Steel out like they did in Vegas. Hopefully they roam above ground and not in a bunker with crappy fence defense
Brotherhood generally keeps to bunkers, though. They're more or less isolationists. Not as secluded as they were in the first game, but they keep to themselves. Having too many roaming the wastes is like having a roaming herd of hermits... which would stop making them hermits and turn them into hobos. I didn't too much like how they had patrols all over the place in 3. They find prewar tech and hide it away from the world and kinda don't give a shit about the world. Vegas was more accurate.
That's on the West Coast though. East Coast, both Brotherhood and Outcasts roamed the wastes looking for tech. The Outcasts kept to the Brotherhood code of hoarding while the other Brotherhood of Steel decided to become a power in the Capital Wasteland. No word on if we'll see that faction but I kinda want them to have migrated their values and ideals up to the Commonwealth cause I like that version of the Brotherhood.

With that said, it *is* nice that they are trying to establish their own canon in the northeast. Vegas was a nice bookend for 1 and 2, and didn't quite venture into Wasteland canon territory of Arizona/Texas.

For those interested in the digital version, need at least 28 GB of free space based on a recent leak by the Xbox Marketplace.

For those that usual dislike console (and retailer) exclusive DLC, Bethesda stated this game won't have any of it.

Should be fine on my PC. Might need to slap some more RAM in there... I have 16 GB (4x4GB) available but whenever I put in more than two sticks it constantly crashes. Not sure if bad RAM or bad mobo :fu:
Holy fuck, so Wasteland 2 is getting a xbone port... between that and Fallout 4, I'm going to be in post-nuclear apocalypses all winter long!

Swap out all the pieces of RAM and power the machine on to see if the RAM is bad. If you hook 2 pieces at a time in the same two slots and it works, swap with the other two slots and see if you have trouble. If you don't have any issues on the first two slots, but you do on the 2nd two, it is most likely your moBo. Pancreas and shaz bagl too. |
yeah I got 64-bit
I'll dick around with it this weekend |
I got this

That's pretty mean to sell that before Fallout 4. Now it's incomplete instantly.

Really debating whether or not I should pre-order this... I mean on the one hand I know I'm gonna buy it, but on the other hand I'm a little iffy on buying it only to have all the bugs Bethesda games usually have at launch make me shelf it until the fan patches start rolling out. :-/

Damn. Looks like they stealth updated Shelter. Only can send 10 dwellers out to the wasteland at a time, when I previously had a rotation of about 20 including the ones I send off to their demise to stay under the 200 cap.
couldn't enjoy any downtime with the added run-ins of Deathclaws so I saved myself the time and uninstalled. Trashing my Nuka-Cola reactors every minute was not cool when all I wanted to do was oversee how many babies Poopfromweiner dude was making
I created AJ Lee and CM Punk and their baby was named Vincent. Is this an Easter Egg or just random happenstance?
I have heavy weapons dudes (Rocket Launchers) in the first room, so most intruders are dead before they can even get into the main Vault. Keeping the elevators in a straight line was good advice for DeathClaws. They run predictable patterns.
So does anybody know when pre-orderers are expected to get Fallout3 code?

Newest trailer released for the game:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/k3IlHBBGCIw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Bethesda revealed they hired the guy responsible for Destiny's Vita control scheme to work on Remote Play for the PS4 version. Quote:

Speaking of raiders, they apparently can be looted now; as their corpses linger for about a minute. Seems like what you get is random, but still worth knowing. |
Just added to Fallout Shelter

So, the Sranger helps if you just downloaded the game, or if you have a new and relatively small vault. Otherwise, it's like a frustratingly timed game of Where's Waldo (or Wally for my non-US peeps).
You got 5 seconds from the piano plunks to find him and tap on him for a pretty minimal cap gain (again, unless you're near the start of a game... then ANY caps are welcome). Then he vanishes with a jazzy riff. He sort-of appears in the background of rooms, so he can be extremely hard to spot if the room's upgraded and there's shit to hide behind (like med room windows or places that add scenery to the foreground or even actual busy dwellers). He can even stand in elevator shafts, which is how I first noticed him. So, in a nutshell: if your vault is too big to find him, you really don't need his help. If you can scan your entire vault in a couple seconds, you likely could use the added caps. Also, in addition to looting raider encounters (first corpse drops a weapon or armor, the rest all turn into a cap bonus), it appears they now only endanger your caps and food, instead of everything. Guess they saved that for deathclaws. |
Bethesda will be selling a very limited edition Xbox One controller for the game starting tomorrow at their official online store. Part of a daily series of sales with something limited/exclusive being sold for this week.
http://cdn.destructoid.com//ul/316378-h1.jpg http://www.destructoid.com/bethesda-...r-316378.phtml For those that care about stuff like this, console versions of the game will run at 30 FPS while the PC version won't have the full game available on disc for the physical version. PC version isn't as hilariously bad as MGS V was but still requires a Steam download to install the rest of the game. http://www.destructoid.com/fallout-4...e-316304.phtml |
Slick controller.... considering it.
considering canceling or reselling the pip boy edition and just getting the regular with a season pass... still got my galaxy s1... doubt the pip boy will work until i get a new phone in a few months hopefully.
Wondered about the pip boy and all the fuckery about fitting certain models. Thinking about ordering the fook outta this game.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo drunk rn. |
I'm making my own once someone shows me how on Pinterest
technically its just a cool phone case with a strap and knobs right? the app can still work, right?
the app is going to work with/without the case. Limited number purchased so others like me can go outside their house and beat down a person who was lucky enough to pre-order one
There's also lights on it. Let's not forget the lights.
Let's also not beat down Hasney when his arrives. It'll smell of France anyway! |
eeeeeeeeeeeeeew France!
I'm like 99% I'm canceling on Amazon, getting the reg game/season pass... The pip boy is cool but beyond 10 minutes I don't see myself playing with it... plus my 2011 phone sucks. I think that mini nuke is a cooler prop to have, but I don't PC game..
Pre-ordered. ell yeah

any Nuka-Cola for my bunghole? we do not have any TP in Nicaragua
Yeah, I thought that would have been the obvious one. But apparently not!
Nuka-Cola Quantum and/or Sunset Sarsaparilla or GTFO
whoa
is that Dota 2 announcer pack gonna be available stand-alone? I'd imagine so |
Get your Dota doodoo outta here!
Bought Wasteland 2 today (fuck you, it's related!). Glad it was also available on disc. If I knew then that there would have been eventual system ports, I would have happily donated to the Inexile Kickstarter.
We know it works. Bethesda can get right on porting Fallout 1 and 2 now. I would totally buy at again. |
Well, I did it. I joined the herd of sheeple and I broke down and preordered the damn game... Feel dirty now.
BaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaa! BaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaa! (read: "One of us! One of us!")
So far, I only have one real complaint about Wasteland... the font. Even setting it to max size, it isn't optimized for sitting about 15 feet or so across the living room. It is almost like the first Dead Rising issue on being played on non-HDTVs. Most of the major character dialogue is spoken as well as written, but there are a good portion of NPCs that only operate via text. Also, commands and prompts and everything else. Not so bad if you're playing on a PC or in PC like environment (sitting fairly close to your TV), but a tad taxing from clear across the room.

in the process of cleaning out my hard drive in anticipation for installing O/S on a fresh SSD, figure I will get all this RAM crap sorted while I do that can I boot up my machine with no RAM sticks at all inserted? And manually add them in as I go to test? |
No.
You can tell right away if the memory is bad though. If your machine has a POST screen that shows the RAM before Windows, it should match what you have in the board.
If not, your machine will either not boot at all or will be slow as fook because of only X of Y sticks working. |
Hmm well everything seems to be running fine for the most part. I'll stick with 8gb and see if I need to improve. I went through with the SSD last night so we'll see how that goes
Quote:
Run this shit instead: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso But if shits running, keep it going. 8GB is fiiiiinnneee for games right now. |
Should be fine. Make sure you are running 64 bit for any memory beyond 8GB or it will not utilize it.
'ell yeah 64 bit all the way
I'm playing on PS4 because of those minimum specs. Still rocking a 1GB video card :(
It'll still be all good.
PS4 is a great machine, just like the One. All of the graphics mean nothing when sifting through the wasteland

I'm pretty indifferent. I've long since gotten over the urge to achievement/trophy hunt in most games
Getting close now.
Scheduled two days off for this, and will be going full neckbeard, cave troll on this one. Can't remember the last time I took off work for a game. Probably Fallout 3. |
Probably the only thing I'm not sure they'll be able to top from Fallout 3 (classic as it is) at this point would be the soundtrack...would just keep my Pip-Boy's radio tuned into GNR when I could tune it in.
I honestly preferred the original score. Probably some of the most atmospheric bgm in a game ever.

It's been really easy to stay away from previews and all. Checked out the Bethesda content they've released, but feel uncomfortable watching a famous "gamer" try and sell me on the game. They seem robotic and not as passionate enough to grasp my attention.
Looking forward to sharing stories on here though, can't wait to craft guns. That's all I've been thinking about is the workbench |
Oh yeah I've been staying away from any information I can. I hate getting spoiled about things.
I like to do one full playthrough of a game like this "at my own pace" to experience it how it is intended to be (IMO), then afterwards I'll read up about all the cool stuff I missed out on and have another playthrough to get all that crap |
A couple of streamers have popped up with the game. Time to get off Twitter for a couple of weeks.
Cannot wait for the mod community to get ahold of this one.
...before even playing the game?
