That's the best lionsault Jericho has pulled off in months if not years.
|
Jericho is still fucking impressive man, kind of unnreal.
|
Punk doesn't need to be thrown into particular title shot. If he's the best in the world, he'll just challenge everyone in AEW, Impact, NWA, NJPW for a while. That'd be cool as hell
|
Jericho has bad punches now

Jericho putting over MJF big to end Dynamite
|
Geez Jericho looked bad.
|
I knew it wasn't gonna happen but damn if I didn't want Jericho to pull it out there in the end.
|
Other than that terrible punch exchange, that was great. Nothing flashy. Just a good old fashioned rasslin match.
|
Think this was my favorite episode of Dynamite ever. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it other than god those pants were awful.

That was a very decent main event. MJF has defeated Jericho thrice now. 50-50 booking be damned.
|
when was the last time wrestling or sports entertainment went 10 minutes over time?
|
that wasn't...i'm just curious
|
MJF is in such a good spot where he’s the best heel in the company but not the top heel. So he’s just going to keep building himself while Omega and the Bucks take the spotlight and before you know it you’ve got a superstar on your hands
|
Warner Media or whatever playing the shit outta some Michael Keaton. I cannot wait to see him as Batman again.
|
It was a great episode of Dynamite for sure. Stronger 1st hour than 2nd but still a very good show. I'm really excited to see Paul Wight vs QT Marshall at the PPV and then Orange Cassidy vs Big Money Matt next week.
I am so conflicted on a solid prediction for CM Punk at All Out. AEW has certainly been dropping Darby hints but I could also see a match with Garcia & 2.0 vs Darby, Moxley & Sting or Kingston. Depending if Kingston and Miro is happening on Dynamite or at the PPV, I don't think they said. Everyone was thinking Mox will face a NJPW star like Tanahashi or Ishii at All Out but they haven't hinted at that recently. I'd be down for a six man Chicago Street fight with Mox, Darby and Kingston vs Garcia & 2.0 I am also not sure who will win the tag eliminator but I will gladly accept Lucha Bro's or Jurassic Express. You'd think after tonight it would be Jurassic Express but I think they'd need to go over, I don't know if it's time for The Bucks to lose the gold or not just yet. Overall the PPV will be great I'm sure but the space of uncertainty that we are in is kind of unusual and unusually compelling. |
Keaton's Batman gonna break Sting outta a cage at some PPV next year.

got OT in my head. Man, Friday is gonna be lit.

I have little doubt that MJF is going to be the company’s fifth world champion. Zero. He has history with Paige, who is next in line. And when MJF finally gets the big one, he’s going to be the most obnoxious douche bag we’ve ever seen, and the eventual Wardlow face turn on him is going to be legendary.
It is really weird and as stated, oddly compelling we’re not going into next week with a full All Out card. So far we’ve got… Omega v Christian Pac v Andrade Paul Wight v QT Marshall Young Bucks cage match And potentially Miro v Eddie Kingston Punk v Darby And that’s it lol. They still have plenty of time. I like the idea of Punk, Darby and Moxley v 2.0 and García in a street fight but that’s kinda redundant. |
What was the deal with the bat spot.... why did jericho just stop trying anything after?
|
The Judas Effect was banned so he didn't want to risk losing the match.

Great freaking show... First hour especially made me think "I love AEW..." a bunch of times
- 2.0 rules - Opening was so good - Don Callis is so incredible... lol @ "that brute Marko Stunt" - Bucks vs. Jurassic Express was sooo good... "Thoracic Express" is such a sweet tag team move - I like Justin Roberts better than Dasha... don't really like Justin Roberts though... smh @ Dasha starting to introduce Jericho as the crowd was singing his song, temporarily messing them up |
– AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Christian Cage
– AEW World Tag Team Championship Steel Cage Match: The Young Bucks (c) vs. Winners of Eliminator Tournament – Andrade El Idolo vs. Pac – Paul Wight vs. QT Marshall Possible/Rumored Matches: – Darby Allin vs. CM Punk – AEW Women’s World Championship: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (c) vs. Kris Statlander – TNT Championship: Miro (c) vs. Eddie Kingston – Jon Moxley vs. Someone from NJPW – Ricky Starks vs. Brian Cage – Women’s Casino Battle Royale |
2.0 are really fucking good. It's not a surprise they got cut from the E being smaller dudes who are both almost 40 years old but they're really talented and good talkers as well. Glad to see them carving out a niche.
Texas tornado match was really fun. Crowd brawling during a pandemic now surging again makes me uneasy even though I'm sure everyone involved in the segment was vaccinated, but you know, breakthrough case potential and all that jazz. Would be alright if they cut that out for a while. But 2.0 putting Sting through a table is some bizarro world shit. I loved it. |
I had no idea that they were nearing 40 and until I just wikied them that they are as experienced as they are. 2.0 and Garcia getting such an immediate prominent spot confused me at first but they totally have killed it thus far.
|
Bucks/Jurassic was a lot of fun, I've firmly believed that Santana and Ortiz should be the ones to dethrone the Bucks but Jurassic Express would be a good backup choice.
|
The Dan Lambert promo was hacky cheap heat but it was well-delivered hacky cheap heat. I very much wanted to see him get punched in the face.
|
I actually like that they're doing the Hogan/Piper WCW build for Paul Wight. Establishing that he's had hip surgery, that he's banged up from a long career, gives him a weakness that QT can exploit to get heat and can at least make the match feel slightly less of a foregone conclusion.
|
So glad Jamie Hayter didn't go to NXT UK
Already hot but the accent adds like 69x more hotness |
Has to be Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros in the cage at All Out... Best possible match for a cage, Varsity Blonds and Jurassic Express already recently got title shots, and why would it be Private Party instead of the Lucha Bros
|
I was actually thinking that the Lucha Bros might not win the eliminator tourney and then end up actually turning on PAC at All Out after all and siding with Andrade.
Would set PAC up for tons of great matches against that entire stable. Hope not though because I love me some Death Triangle. |
Jericho/MJF was what it needed to be. Just a good, solid match - one of Jericho's better ones in a long while.
That SHOULD be the end of the feud but with All Out only 2 weeks away I don't know how you shift them into new programs so quick. My guess is Jericho challenges him one more time but puts his in-ring career on the line as incentive for MJF to take the match. |
You just.... have them work with someone else. Should be easy enough.
MJF can talk shit to anyone and start a feud anytime, honestly. Y2J being the "grizzled vet" will have a target on his back from someone wanting to make a name for themselves. |
It's easy to have them start new feuds. But doing it so close to the PPV would feel clunky.
Also I'm almost positive the whole 5 labors thing was initially explained as Jericho having to win 5 matches and THEN get MJF, presumably at All Out. Then somewhere in the middle the 5th labor became MJF himself. That's why I think they've got one more match to go with Jericho putting up higher stakes. Otherwise they probably would've just saved last night for the PPV. |
I totally think MJF's next actual feud is Punk though. Punk/Darby at All Out in a "special attraction" match. Maybe one last MJF/Jericho match. MJF attacking Punk after his match for nuclear heat, or otherwise just calling Punk out on Dynamite.
Punk and MJF can have a killer feud even with neither guy working a match for months, which helps keep Punk "special" for a while via wrestling sparingly. The promos would be some good shit. |
I'm actually starting to wonder if maybe Punks first program will be with Moxley.
|
So much talk and conjecture on what is going to happen with Punk tomorrow. I guess we have to lean with Darby/Punk because even AEW has dropped hints. The Darby promo referencing "Best in the World", last night there was a video promo for Rampage where Excalibur said something like "Can Darby Allin finally prove he is the best in the world"...
I still don't see it as the right match because Darby is so beloved right now. It just seems like a conflict of reaction from the fans. But if they go this route I'm sure I will enjoy it and they will make it work. They got my trust in that. I could also easily see MJF coming out tomorrow and gloating only for Punk to come out and trade promo's until maybe Jericho comes out and say's the match has been made for All Out, Punk vs MJF and Jericho will be the referee. That makes more sense to me than Darby, with the stories leading up to this point. |

I'd be kinda surprised because Punk's said a few times in interviews over the last year that if he were to ever return to wrestling he wants to face people he's never wrestled before. Pretty sure he told Renee "even your husband, I've already been there and done that, I want new challenges"
But Punk's debut would coincide with Mox's promo about how everyone wants to show up at AEW. At the same time Darby probably shows up for the main event to help fend off 2.0 or whatever so who knows. Lots of where it can go. |
One thing I can say for certain. Oh how my opinion has changed on Omega/Christian main eventing the PPV. All Out? I'm ALL IN on that right now. I'm still fired up from the match on Rampage and yeah I think it's gonna be sweet. But still, Omega had on a Chick Magnet shirt last night. They did beat down Christian pretty bad. Could they say he's injured and unable to make the PPV? So many questions.
|
Omega wore a Cookie Monster shirt a couple of weeks ago.
Punk coming in has been the most wink wink nod nod thing, and I love it. They didn't lazily announce he's showing up but they have done basically everything else to tell you he's appearing. I love it. |
I don’t want Punk in a title program for a long while. There’s a ton of guys he can work with and have engaging feuds with. There’s no need to rush him right into the title picture two weeks before the PPV.
Sean Ross Sapp hinted that the idea with Punk may be simmering similar to the Bulls lineup intro music. Then his music hits and he says something like “I’m back”. Fuck me I cannot wait. It’s clobbering time, boys. |
|
Man that’s a bummer bummer considering that their first hour was stellar
|
I hate how ratings work. I get the demos and all that but I don't think I'll ever accept that a TV show wins the ratings war over something that has 3 times as many viewers. Just seems so dumb.
|
Am I the only one who prefers thicc hayter over jacked hayter?
|
Wow, ratings drop AGAIN.
Maybe Tony Khan will have to kill another wrestler R.I.P |

Think about your average AEW fan. Do you want them to be the ones buying your t-shirt and trying to set a trend? There’s a large difference between a 49 year old white fat virgin in rural Indiana who only ever spends his money on pizza and wrestling PPVs and an 18 year old fit black guy in New York City. Advertisers know this. They are interested in WAY more than these easily obtained numbers tell. The ratings are a big deal for wrestling shows because they were a measuring stick during the Monday Night Wars and because wrestling’s faux competitive element makes people want to measure dicks. Have you ever wondered why the WWE pushes so many different people from diverse backgrounds? It’s not just for fun. It’s because we live in a world where that diversity is way more important to advertisers than the outmoded 18-49 demo. The ratings are also perpetuated by Meltzer who needed something to write about in quiet weeks, and the ratings provide whatever narrative you want. No fun to talk about the WWE being #1 on cable for years and years. More fun to talk about their slow demise and how viewership is decreasing. It’s got no more nuance than that. |
Anyway, I came in here to fucking LOL at the idea of Jericho having a baseball bat and using it to...hit MJF in the gut. So fucking terrible.
|
I have fit black guy friends who like wrasslin.
|
Also know a lot of fat white guys, not just from Indiana, but the entire COUNTRY wearing lotsa hockey gear.
does not compute. |
I think my Canadian friend gave his fat clothes to his fat friends too, if i remember....
|

but then your point about my fit black friend? Usually they hang out in a group with 4-5 others, and 1 petite lil white girl.
That's a small watch party, for sure, but a watch party none the less. Considering they are in the target demo, they tell some of their other groups of friends and things exponentially grow. Sometimes they will get down to their skivies and have intergender matches, but texas tornado tag format right. Never fair though...... like 5v1 or some other bullshit. Hell, you might want to call them "purists" as they will get completely nude to re-enact the Greeks wrasslin. |

The Meltzer line about these demos being what advertisers care about in 2021 is all spin. Because he has limited information and needs to print something for his newsletter. They are the easy-to-grab numbers and fit into a “AEW good/WWE bad” paradigm (even if WWE’s demos are actually better). Advertisers care more about different optics now. They care about how many Asian Americans watch a show. How many black people. Their income. How much they spend on certain products. Their educational level. How many people live in their households. How many times they interact with people socially. They care about women and what women think about the men. They care about whether or not it’s got appeal to the LGBTQ community. Maybe on a low-level in Buttfuck, Tennessee people don’t have the time and resources to go into more detail than a superficial demo. But on a real level, these numbers have been trivial for a long, long time. Maybe forever. What matters is whether or not advertisers think they can make money off you. Wrestling has always been trash with that. It’s why they’re getting bumped for hockey. If we were going just by week-to-week demo, that wouldn’t happen. Many networks have even thought about getting rid of Nielsen all together. It just isn’t the useful tool wrestling fans who want it to be a video game score think it is. Fuck, the numbers aren’t even reliable, and Nielsen themselves say to give them 10% either way. |
