I'm sure it was a fun main event but fast forwarded most of it until the Arn/Tully standoff and then watched the rest (which was only a minute or two)

Christian Cage and Jungle Boy would be a good feud. Kind of want Luchasaurus to turn on JB as well and become his new Problem Solver. Give Christian Ryan Nemeth as an understudy. I like the idea of Hobbs & Starks with Christian too. Not sure what that would mean for Team Taz overall. Maybe it’s just time to move on? Or Taz can be there with them?

Punk and MJF had what appeared to be a good segment. A little stagey and will no doubt shine a light on what the rest of the show doesn’t bring to the table, but a good segment nonetheless.

I honestly don't see anything special in pillman Jr. He's not bad or anything. He's fine. But I feel like people got behind him because of mjf's douchebaggery as opposed to pillman himself getting over.

That said, if they were going to put him in a program like that, they absolutely should of followed up on it. Literally anything, instead of just dropping him him off the face of the earth.

AEW seems bad about dropping people from the face of the Earth or dropping feuds/stories prematurely.... Billy Gunn and his scumbag sons finally reappeared after a big PPV/Dynamite angle where they turned heel on Paul Wight (who dropped off the face of the Earth after, along with the Gunns)

(I mean, I guess not that I was super keen on seeing the follow-up on Billy Gunn and scumbag sons turning heel on Paul Wight, but why do it if they are just going to disappear?)

Yeah they do drop things that aren't hot without any notice which is weird and also understandable to a degree.

Paul Wight and Mark Henry are terrible on AEW. AEW really needs to cut a lot of meat from the roster and cherry pick the recent ROH and WWE releases.

I think doing something with Windham, Adam Scherr and Rowan makes a lot of sense. They could play into the Dark Order story and end up against Hangman and Friends.

I like how the J.O.B. Squad Daniel Garcia and 2.0 appear sporadically in between PPVs and stories where they are like "we need to keep this face wrestler occupied for a week or two", and so bring in Garcia as default jobber but always try to present him as legit.

I completely forgot about Paul Wight/Billy Gunn. I mean, I think I actually talked about it in a Rampage thread or something, but that literally went nowhere.

BPJ is green, but there’s a lot of potential there. And you don’t start something without finishing it. Have him beat a Daniel Garcia then say he’s going to go and train or something. “You never know what a Loose Cannon is going to do next…” Then there’s a thread left dangling.

That’s a good idea. I like that.

The thing that Pillman, Jr. had going for him is that he’s the son of one of the most unpredictable men in wrestling. He had big shoes to fill, but that allows him to misstep and be different. I didn’t mind his babyface promos being a little awkward and forced because I can see him evolving past “Flyin’ Brian” into something else. It could even all be a studied act. He doesn’t need to always hit it out of the park, or be as conventionally successful because of that sense that something else is going on. But doing nothing with the guy leaves almost every possibility on the table, and every excuse seems like a cop-out.

Is it just me, or has QT Marshall gone from being a heel up in everybody’s business to basically being AWOL? I think he may have worked a match or something on TV somewhere, but his importance to the whole show has changed.

And whatever happened to Anthony Ogogo?

The roster evolved past them both a bit.

The roster has always been past the point where it needs to focus on certain acts, yet does anywhere. QT’s big program with Paul Wight ended after Danielson and Cole debuted. I mean, who has debuted since then? Jay Lethal and Bobby Fish?

This sounds like an excuse to avoid saying that AEW were wrong pushing certain things. And avoids the truth that, yes, they just drop things without explanation, and their storytelling is not air-tight.

Less QT isn't something I think anyone is going to complain about.

Ogogo had to get surgery and I think he's still recovering.

Less QT isn’t a bad thing. It could have been avoided by not putting him in that slot at the beginning though. And once you are there, even if no one complains, it’s still nice to get something that is cohesive. It just gets annoying to hear about how much sense AEW makes when it really doesn’t.

It’s not so much that my bones ache for Billy Gunn and Big Show on my TV in 2021. But it’s them that put it out there.
