Unless that guy can prove he’s NOT a murderer, I think the t-shirt might be overcompensating.

Mr. Nerfect 09-03-2022 06:37 PM

The show I’m most curious about this weekend is NXT Worlds Collide. NXT under Triple H and Shawn Michaels is going to be…interesting.

I hope Ricochet wins the North American Title. Could be used to build to a Ladder Match between Ricochet and Hayes for down the line.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-03-2022 06:38 PM

Match rankings:

1) Sheamus/Gunther
2) Drew/Roman
3) Riddle/Rollins
4) Liv/Shayna
5) Trios match
N/A) Rey-ted R/Judgment Day

Pretty good show. Crowd was incredible. Dom heel turn was the only big shock

slik 09-03-2022 07:38 PM

It will be interesting to see where WWE goes next, because Drew vs Roman was booked as a match by Vince, and now H has free reign of the main-event scene minus a rumored WM match or 2 (see below)

SPOILER: show

Rock/Roman and Cena/Theory rumors

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2022 07:43 PM

That’s a good point. Vince set this up.

Let’s speculate what Vince would have done now.

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2022 07:44 PM

Possibly some AC/DC karaoke.

Vastardikai 09-03-2022 07:48 PM

On paper, Gunther vs Sheamus didn't makes sense. Aren't both heels?

It was only after I saw Sheamus' chest that I remembered: Sheamus is ghost white pale and Gunther's Chops are like getting hit with a baseball bat.

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2022 07:52 PM

Yeah, as much as I fucking hate the current strategy of having “good matches” just to have them, Gunther vs Sheamus is a match that should easily make two brutes look like a badass so… Book it.

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2022 07:53 PM

That being said, Sheamus is gonna go down as an all-time wasted talent.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-03-2022 07:58 PM

Fun to think that the guy who beat John Cena clean for the world title, beat Bryan Danielson clean for the world title at Wrestlemania, and eliminated Chris Jericho to win the Royal Rumble is a wasted talent

But yeah kinda

I really wanted that match for Clash. It works in a “Battle of the Brutes” kind of way. You just want to see them destroy each other on their home continent as a promotional humble brag about the quality of talent you’ve got.

It’d be fine if they kept it going too. Imperium vs. Brawling Brutes works for SmackDown and maybe even through Extreme Rules. Sheamus has found something since the stuff with Drew. I just hate the way they were dressing, at least under Vince.

Put Sheamus in jeans and a shirt as street gear and you’ve got someone that’s a lot more “believable.” I know they got Drew out of the kilt and into more realistic stuff.

Gunther should always be in wrestling gear or a suit.

The problem, see, is that careers are just too damn long these days. If a guy is around for like 20 years, who cares anymore

Beat Cena on 2* different occasions for the World Title. Also beat Roman for a World Title as well.

Went onto Peacock and watched Gunther/Sheamus. That slapped (literally). Good time with that.

Evil Vito 09-03-2022 10:08 PM

The only logical reason for Drew to not go over in this situation was if WWE officially have a commitment from a certain megastar who happens to be related to Reigns, and naturally they’d want his title run to continue until them.

Lock Jaw 09-03-2022 10:16 PM

Also maybe cause they didn't want to do the biggest title switch in a long time on a show that a lot of their primary market wouldn't be watching live?

No, seriously. Sheamus looks like he's wearing an Affliction shirt.

Rollins/Riddle and Drew/Roman were also really good

would recommend them

Seth Rollins is entering that AJ Styles 'nearly impossible to have a bad match with someone' phase of his career

That shits all over AEW.

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2022 01:03 AM

“Take Me Home Country Roads” would have been a good song to karaoke at the end, too.

Fignuts 09-04-2022 01:15 AM

Great PPV

Liv Morgan vs Shayna was the biggest surprise. That was Liv's best match by country mile.

Domink was brilliant in that heel turn. Could see in his face how elation turned into disappointment as Edge and his father ignored him and his efforts after the win.

Mr. Nerfect 09-04-2022 01:38 AM

I’m interested to see the Dominik turn. People act like he sucks, but every time I’ve seen him recently he’s been PrettyCool.

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2022 01:57 AM

I’m interested to see what other genres they delve into for show-ending karaoke.

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2022 02:00 AM

Cody returning, jobbing to Roman at Survivor Series and then singing “Janie’s Got a Gun” would be excellent.

This is my exact issue and what sparked my departure from "regular viewing".

They have done this type of "spot" with the title for the longest and it IS boring as fuck.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-04-2022 08:38 AM

The problem with having a long-reigning heel champ is you inevitably make the faces look like fucking morons or outright inferior. And nobody wants to root for losers. The only way out of that is one-hour broadways but today's fans aren't going to swallow that.

Mr. Nerfect 09-04-2022 01:23 PM

I think one of the biggest misconceptions of the modern wrestling fan is that “the money is in the chase.” It’s not entirely wrong, per se — but there’s so much in a babyface run that is actually valuable, if the babyface is over.

The problem is the WWE had a pretty rough time booking babyfaces under Vince McMahon. The prerogative wasn’t on having an active protagonist, but rather trying to get sympathy on the hero. People want to live vicariously through them.

On the other hand it gets people like me to actually tune in to see "is this the night he loses?"

Less about actually rooting for the good guy, but more tuning in to see if the bad guy loses..... and then it is up to the good guy to get me into it during the match and make me believe that he could pull it off.

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2022 10:28 PM

Some people have to look inferior to build stars. As long as Reigns stays unstoppable, losing to him doesn’t necessarily make a face look like shit. It just makes them look below Reigns. Which is fine as long as Reigns is credible as fuck.

Blowing off the loss and singing karaoke immediately afterward on the other hand may make them look like a bit of a fucking moron…

Sepholio 09-05-2022 11:41 AM

Feel like in normal circumstances the song and dance routine would have went down still....but would have been off camera fan service for after the show. The fact that it made it on the broadcast was pretty baffling. Serious wtf moment.

Mr. Nerfect 09-05-2022 11:59 AM

Doesn’t Tyson Fury sing after his fights? He sung American Pie after beating Deontay Wilder. Seems like it was just a way to get his “celebrity” onto the show and try and paste Drew’s loss as a win.
