I got a 100% out of Ultimo Dragon v. Rob van Dam on ERW
|
American Dragon, not Ultimo Dragon ;)
|
A couple years ago (maybe even further) I would've said yes, but Kurt is just too broken down. I'm sure it would proabably be good and all, but I have serious doubts about whether Angle will perform at the levels he himself has set ever again.
|
I haven't read this whole thread, but where are you people seeing ROH? Are they on TV or are you just downloading shit? Sounds sick.

Live events and DVD.
I'm sure there is a crapload of matches on youtube though. |
I've got a bunch of stuff downloaded, coupla DVDs, and they run it on The Fight Network over here.
|
Live shows, downloads, DVDs.... some bootleg stuff if you know where to look.

WHOOOOO!!!
Tickets for the WM doubleshot go on sale this Saturday at the Detroit show! I am sooooooo fucking buying those tickets. |
Have they come back to buffalo at all since Dragon/Corino?
|
Quote:
And Fignuts nah they haven't been back to Buffalo since, I think they've given up on it. |

SON OF A BITCH GOD DAMN IT! WHY?
I was there, crowd didn't make new chants every five minutes but they were still electric, and there were a good amount of people there. Also, it should be said that they held the event well outside the city. If they moved closer to the actual city they could sell more tickets, prolly. |

BOOOOO!!!
Blitz, you've let me down :( |
ROH Doubleshot > Wrestlemania.
|
More than Wrestlemania that weekend (also planning on going to the Hall of Fame Dinner). TNA is more than likely doing 2 shows as well, plus the indy I work for may do one as well.
Believe me, I'd like to go, but I dunno if I'll have time |
TNA is doing 2 shows as well? Where did you hear that?
|
Quote:
|
It'll probably be a tripleshot again. By doubleshot, I was just referring to the two shows in Detroit on Friday and Sat though. They'll probably hit Dayton or Cleveland for Thursday.
|
That's pretty lame.
|
That could be interesting, pretty sure Joe's contract specifically states he does not have to choose TNA over ROH
Doing a road trip next year anyway, gonna plan it around these shows. Hopefully catch CHIKARA too  |
KENTA Prepares For Last ROH Weekend
Thursday, October 05, 2006 NOAH star KENTA made his United States home in Ring Of Honor this year with a memorable series of outstanding matches. You can make a strong case that KENTA is ROH's 2006 MVP. Now KENTA is ready for one final weekend of ROH action as scheduling conflicts will prevent him from returning until deep into 2007. ----- Booooo :( |
BOO:(
|
Too bad about KENTA. I hadn't seen much of his work until I saw him in Chicago, but he blew me away and I want more of him in ROH. There were a lot of people speculating that he would win the title when he faced Danielson, and that bothered me less than I thought it would. I can't wait to see him when he comes back, though.
|
Well, Gabe said on the Observer radio show the other week that he's trying to get the Dragon Gate guys back for "late March" so read into that what you will. And there's always the possibility (although pretty remote at this point I would think) that they could snag Morishima at some point in the first half of next year. Or maybe bring Maru in for another GHC defence? (even less likely) Akiyama?
|
I have faith they'll pull off something great, and I will be there.
Gabe knows what he's doing. |
So those tickets go on sale in Detroit, eh? Will they sell out pretty quickly or will there be general admission available until pretty close to the shows? I would really like to make the trip up there to see it, because unfortunately I didn't know much about ROH during last year's WM shows and they were right in Chicago. Right next to me. I was so pissed.
|
You should be able to get them online w/ no problem.
|
Should be GA tickets there on the day too.
Delirious beat Sydal to win SOTF. So close  |
Delirious won!
http://deliriouswrestling.com/galler...elirious66.jpg I know, I'm just as shocked as you. NEXT STOP, ROH WORLD CHAMPION! |
Makes the decision to sign Sydal-KENTA even more confusing, tbh

Bit quiet with no shows for a while, but the UK shows are now available to buy
|
Slickness.
|
I can't wait to get the UK shows. They look absolutely amazing.
|
For the upcoming show in Chicago, is the Danielson/Joe match still for the title? It doesn't say anything about the title on the card. I really wouldn't care since there's no time limit, no dq, and anything goes. That makes up for it.
|
Non-title.
Danielson said he only has to defend his belt once a month, and he defended it against Aries, so no go for Joe. |
I just bought Unified off the ROH website.
If it sucks I will kill every ROH fan in the world. |
Soooooo...I couldn't wait for my order and got a sneak peek :shifty: at the Broxbourne show, since I was there and all. Myself and friends are on the hard camera pretty much the entire way
Haven't really sat down and watched the whole show but BJ-Go comes across better on tape than I remember, particularly as the ring is smaller than usual and so the handhelds are able to pick up the wrestlers' expressions a lot clearer - something that Go is pretty awesome with. And yes, the Sydal/Richards vs Briscoes tag is as awesome as I remember it  |
Nigel vs. Dragon is unbelievable, definitely the turning point in the career of Nigel
|
Quote:
The next ROH show I'm gonna get is the Kenta vs Danielson show. Overall I thought Unified was a very good show. |
lol replying to your own comment? F-A-G
|
Yeah would a F-A-G stay home on a Saturday night and watch a wrestling DVD?
|
Saturday night's ROH show was pretty damn sweet. The only problem I had was that it simply felt like a set-up for the announced Chicago Spectacular shows coming up on December 8 & 9. Other than that, though, the show was really good.
Shingo put on a great match, beating Roderick. There was a sick DDT through a table at ringside. It looked like Strong just folded in half with the table. Jacobs siding with Lacey and taking out Cabana after their tag match was done really well. They almost had me thinking that Cabana and Jimmy would both leave Lacey, but Jimmy's a lovesick bitch and bloodied Cabana with Lacey's shoe. Whitmer got a huge pop when he came out for the save. Corino was jaw-jacking with the crowd all match, and it was hilarious. Sinclair almost got fired for reversing his decision on the winner of the match, and the crowd was eating it up. Chicago fucking hates Sinclair. Aries/Daniels was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't that the match was bad; it's just that I expected more out of it. Daniels did a top rope palm strike followed by the best Angel's Wings I've ever seen to pick up the victory. It seems as though these two are going to have a program against each other, so it's only going to get better from here. Albright impressed the hell out of me. He kicked the shit out of Trik Davis, and I can't wait to see him again on the 8 & 9. Both Sydal and Richards beat the Briscoes. Sydal/Jay put on what could be considered the match of the night, while Richards sucked ass like he always does. I don't see that guy's appeal. He's so fucking boring to watch. Danielson/Joe started out fast and didn't slow down at all. The action was all over the place, so I couldn't see most of the middle of the match but everything I could see was great. Danielson got a nightstick from under the ring and beat Joe with it. Joe with Danielson in the head with an industrial fan. Joe choked out Danielson with Sinclair's belt for the win. There was even a, "You're going to get your fucking head kicked in" chant. The big announcement at the show was the Chicago Spectacular on December 8 & 9. Front row tickets went up to $50 in Chicago, but that's fine by me. Joe challenged Danielson to a steel cage title match for the Spectacular. HOLY SHIT. I'm hyped for that match right now, and I have more than a month to wait. |
Quick question.... Does Shingo have his Masahiro Chono/Island Team 2000 look going on?
|
He had a pretty impressive mullet, goatee, and Blood Generation singlet on.
|
Seriously when is Dragon going to drop the belt? It's really time for someone else to have a run
|
I'm hoping for him to drop it at Chicago Spectacular, but that's just because I want to see the title change hands. I'm still putting my money on Homicide winning the title. It may be the obvious choice, but that won't make it any less important when it happens.
|

|
Incase you guys haven't heard, which I'm sure you have, American Dragon is set to work all the NOAH dates on the upcoming Winter Navigation tour.
|
If Danielson defends the belt against Joe at the Chicago Spectacular, he won't have to defend the title at Final Battle. So unless Danielson is somehow forced into defending the belt twice in one month, I've just realized that it probably won't be a title match in Chicago. Damn. I hope this matter is addressed soon.
Edit - The Newswire says that the title is on the line for the Danielson/Joe match, so I wonder what that means for Final Battle. Will Homicide's wish supercede Danielson's contract? |
Cornette promised Homicide the ROH title shot at Final Battle 2006 if Joe and him beat the Briscoes in Manhattan. He has to defend it
|
Daniels really, really, REALLY needs a heel turn. Like, yesterday.
|
True, but being a heel in ROH isn't exactly easy... Although if he costed Homicide his title shot....
|
Daniels needs the Prophecy back
|
ROH needs a bit more unpredictability.
|
Like a Delirious title win? :shifty:

This needs bumping to emphasise how shitty the end to Corino-Homicide sounds on paper :(
|
Yeah that sounded so stupid. Ending with a hug and a haircut and then just laughing and playing around. WTF

Please explain?

Yeah...... Yeah :(
Cabana/Homicide made sense. Corino/Homicide, not really..... Corino needs to come back in December and screw him out of the title ;) |

Another step towards ROH's global domination. Awesome news. It's good to see them branching out to Japan so early on in their existence. This can only mean good things.
|
I should make mention that I will be seeing Shingo and Naruki Doi at the UK shows in like 6 weeks time.
:y: |
ROH in Japan will be amazing, I just wonder how they'll do it... Will it be ROH wrestlers facing off with each other on a NOAH/Dragongate show, with a few interpromotional matches, or will they all be interpromotional matches? We'll see.
BTW, in another thread there was a comment that no promotion, except WWE, has turned a profit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but ROH is turning a profit. That makes me happy. Also, Doi is the amazing. |
Yeah as far as I know they are making a profit, not sure if it's particularly huge but it's still more than most companies can manage.
|
Morishima vs Joe is ON, 16/2 in NYC. Kinda wish they'd waited a bit, he's going to be on the first 4 shows of the 5th year festival, personally I would've built him a bit on the first 3 so anyone who doesn't know him can see what he's about, then have him fight Joe on the last show he's booked. ALTHOUGH, I understand they want it in NYC, since that's pretty much their best crowd right now and it'll be a sellout, plus the initial confrontation happened there.
Hopefully Joe will be close to 100% by then too. Anyway  |
He's also getting a title shot....
I don't know what's a more interesting match up, Joe Vs Morishima, or Homicide Vs Morishima. |
Jimmy Rave vs Morishima :shifty:
|
Having read about his match vs Misawa the other day I fear for whoever is champ
|
i will be seeing morishima v. homicide most likely on 2/17 in philly. i'll be interested to see how the fans take to him and how the match as a whole turns out. so far the philly card is a little underwhelming currently.davey richards v. samoa joe is the big match so far and since i'm not sold on davey richards i can't say i'm looking forward to it. so far i am looking forward to chris daniels and matt sydal defending their titles against a yet to be named opponent mainly cause i love the team of daniels and sydal.
|
Have you seen Richards live? I wasn't sold until I saw him in Chi-Town a few months back. Much more impressive live than on tape.
HOLY SHIT. Just now read that I get to see Joe & Cide vs. Morishima & Nigel on 2/24. BAD ASS. |
no, this will be the first time i get to see him live. i'm hoping he has the same effect on me that he did you. that tag team match sounds amazing btw.
|
Davey Richards is the man.

It's official...
From PWInsider: RING OF HONOR TO RUN FIRST SHOWS IN JAPAN THIS SUMMER by Mike Johnson @ 10:35:00 AM on 1/22/2007 Ring of Honor will make its debut this summer in Japan, it was announced this morning. ROH official Syd Eick traveled to Japan for the official announcement. The promotion will run joint shows on 7/16 in Tokyo with Pro Wrestling NOAH and 7/17 in Osaka with Dragon's Gate. ROH has had working agreements with both companies over the past several years, sending talent overseas and hosting a number of Japanese stars including Kenta Kobashi, CIMA, KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, and Dragon Kid among others. ROH hosted the first-ever American title defense of Pro Wrestling NOAH's Global Honored Crown championship last September in New York City. The Briscoe Brothers and Nigel McGuinness, among others have toured with NOAH. Jimmy Rave, Austin Aries, Jack Evans, and Roderick Strong have toured with Dragon's Gate. Sports Navi in Japan theorized that this may lead to a "Supershow" with all three promotions working together, but that is just conjecture at this point |
Personally, I hope KENTA wins the ROH strap this year. I think he deserves it.
|
Supershow with ROH NOAH and DG would be sex.
|
I'm pulling for Nigel. I wouldn't mind KENTA, as he is amazing, but Nigel is my boy.
|
Quote:
Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to KENTA winning the ROH strap, but saying he deserves it, IMO, is a stretch. I mean, ROH has basically let him come in and steamroll over most of their talen he's fought... The matches have been great, but I don't think KENTA should be given the belt unless NOAH is willing to let KENTA lose more often. That way the ROH guys won't look weak with just one or two ROH guys looking good by eventually beating him. Those Japan shows will be amazing. The only sad part is that SUWA is now retired and won't be around for them... :'( |
I could see Nigel or Rave holding the belt this year... Maybe Hero too.
|
Yeah, he has only lost one match, but to say he's steamrolled over all his opponents is stretching it. He's made evryone he's faced look strong. Stronger than some of his opponents in Noah have looked.
|
I'm not saying he didn't make them look strong. I'm just saying it's not a good idea for someone who isn't actually a member of your roster to beat tons of people on your roster without them getting wins back.
Right now it's not bad, because there's reason to believe in a rematch, people like Aries, Strong, Sydal, Richards, etc, could win. However if KENTA went back and just beat them again and again, no matter how strong they looked, I don't think it would help ROH.... It's not just KENTA, that's just my issue with companies bringing in talent from other companies... (Unless you're TNA and fuck over everyone you bring in.) |
With that said, the ROH/Dragongate relationship has been done amazingly well, and no one has looked bad.
Plus, props to NOAH for their treatment of the Briscoes and Danielson. |
I think thats actually a great reason to put the strap on him. You have guys like Nigel and Rave who are on the verge of being permanant main eventers. I still don't see them on the same level as guys like AmDrag, Joe, or Lo-ki. A win for the title against an invader who has been almost unbeatable, would completely cement them at the top.
|
I can see (and agree with) and argument against Rave not being at that point, but Nigel has more than proved himself as ROH Championship material. The man is a fucking workhorse with an incredible moveset.
I do like the "win the belt from the invader" scenario, though. First of all, KENTA winning the title would be huge. Off the charts. It's not that no one would see it coming; it would just be incredible to see. And the guy that would take it off of him would definitely get a solid rub, being the man to bring the belt "back home." Whichever way the title scene plays out, I'm sure that it'll be spectacular. |
KENTA can even wave around his craaaaaazy passport to get cheap heel heat.
|
Quote:
Him being unbeatable for a bit, losing once, and vanishing, IMO, hurts. Not terribly, but it does. For example, I'm willing to bet one of the reasons Danielson was treated so well in NOAH has to do with the fact that he beat KENTA, and people in Japan saw it. NOAH didn't want to make him look weak since he beat KENTA, plus they could build him up for a rematch. However, if someone like Aries went to NOAH, NOAH has no real incentive to give him wins, since he hasn't beaten anyone major on their roster (tag match vs KENTA I'm not counting since KENTA didn't take the fall), so Aries losing in NOAH doesn't make anyone in NOAH look bad. Back to my original point, take the LEsnar NJPW situation. Came in, took the money, beat a bunch of people, left undefeated... NJPW lost huge in that deal. KENTA winning is fine. KENTA only losing being beaten once before leaving, not as fine. Of course, this is assuming he's back for an extended run again. |
Also, while it will NEVER happen, I would kill to see KENTA Vs CIMA.
|
Quote:
|
Honestly, the only way I see that match happening is if ROH/Dragongate/Noah do a joint show, and they have something like
CIMA/Marufuji/Jack Evans Vs Doi/KENTA/Davey Richards That match would be fucking immense. |
