You are hilarious, VEL..

The Steeler's lifetime backup QB Charlie Batch broke his collar bone against the Eagle Friday night in a preseason game.. They signed Byron Leftwich over Culpepper who both went out for workouts yesterday morning.. Damn Culpepper fell the fuck off after that knee injury.. So glad the Dolphins went after him instead of Brees..

Kris P Lettus 08-11-2008 01:46 PM

Also, the Brown's WR Braylon Edwards was running sprints in his socks when Donte "Stonehands" Stallworth stepped on the back of his foot causing a cut that required stitches..

lol

Triple A 08-11-2008 05:31 PM

Was raining today so I didn't go. I will try Wednesday hopefullyyyyyyyyy

Kris P Lettus 08-11-2008 05:38 PM

Last practice is in like 45 mins but I'll prolly not make it..

:(

Did go like 5 times and to the scrimmage though so it's all good..

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-11-2008 08:00 PM

Stonehands Stallworth? Really?

from what I'm reading their whole goal with her is it will get fans to stop tailgating earlier and come into the stadium earlier (hence start buying things).

think she still had a job with them by week 6?

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2008 11:14 AM

Just heard on Sportscenter that the Packers radio announcer is calling Arron Rodgers "A Rodg"..

LOL

:(

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2008 02:13 PM

They aired their scrimmage earlier on in preseason on NFL Network and one of the dudes was calling him that as well.

I've been watching a lot of replays of preseason games on NFL Network like the last week or so and wow the hometown announcers (during the regular season they don't have hometown guys on there) are so biased, like I expect it but some of them are really over the top. I thought Tommy Heinson was the only one getting away with that haha

SammyG 08-12-2008 02:32 PM

Meh, what do you expect from local broadcasting..? It should be biased.

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2008 02:42 PM

Yeah, "The Cajun Cannon" Bobby Herbert does the play by play for the Saints.. Do you expect a former Saints QB to pull for another team??

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2008 06:15 PM

LOL@ the look on Marino's face at the end of the Boomer clip

That dubbed one wasn't funny at all though

VonErichLives 08-12-2008 07:10 PM

yeah, I remember one show they asked boomer and chris carter "would you rather be in the hall of fame or have a super bowl ring" and both said HOF, and someone else on the show I forget who laughed and said "spoken like 2 guys who have never worn a ring"...

The funny thing is, Boomer was right, until the Colts built up that Defense Payton was set to be the next Marino, no fault of his own, but those early years he had no defense and a team doesn't win like that. Now he has a full team.

VonErichLives 08-12-2008 07:11 PM

it's also funny how much Marino always hated the Pats, I think the only time he picked them was the SB they lost this year... which is kinda funny cause he used to destroy the patriots every year, especially in Miami the pats didn't win for like 20yrs.

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2008 07:30 PM

The Meadowlands Sports Complex has issued new rules regarding alcohol and fan behavior.

Tailgate parties can only start five hours before New York Giants and Jets games instead of seven. Also, season ticketholders who are ejected from the stadium or arena will have their tickets revoked.

Last season, security at Gate D was increased at Jets games because hundreds of men would gather at halftime and demand that women expose their breasts. View-blocking banners will be hung on the spiral staircase to help eliminate the problem.

Unchanged is the halftime cutoff for alcohol sales
After seeing that, I went back to read the article Stima posted and she says:

Quote:

“If it gets them in the seats earlier and out of the freezing parking lots a couple of beers earlier maybe, so be it. I promise I’ll put on as good a show as I possibly can.”
Halftime is ridiculous for alcohol cutoffs..

VonErichLives 08-12-2008 07:36 PM

it says "unchanged" so I assume this is not a new rule for 1/2time.

not sure what it is at Gillette, I wanna say sometime in the 3rd...

Also, gilette I think they only start tailgating 4hrs before the game starts (thats when they open the lots).

The problem is the idiots who get too drunk ruin it for everyone else.

The having tickets revoked is how they do it at Gilette, there is such a waiting list if you do something stupid (or someone who gave/sold your tickets to) to get kicked out they pull your tickets.

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2008 07:46 PM

They stop selling after the third at the Chocolate Thunderdome..

Evil Vito 08-12-2008 10:59 PM

<font color=goldenrod>WTF putting up view-blocking banners on the spiral staircases :| Those are great for views of the city and all that.

Anyway, ROFL Chad Johnson has taken steps to legally change his name to Chad Ocho Cinco

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/...cinco-legally/

The Bengals play a game against the Giants at Giants Stadium this year, I damn near pissed myself trying to hear the Bob Sheppard-impersonating announcer saying "Palmer to Ocho Cinco..."</font>

SammyG 08-12-2008 11:59 PM

LOL chad

Gonzo 08-13-2008 12:24 AM

What a dipshit. I like Chad Johnson but come the fuck on.

OssMan 08-13-2008 12:27 AM

I hope he gets traded and the team he gets traded to has retired #85 or has someone who won't give it up.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-13-2008 01:43 AM

I don't think he will actually go through with it........at least I hope not

And AssMeng the only 2 teams with the # 85 retired are the Rams and the Lions.....so good luck with that

Evil Vito 08-13-2008 10:17 AM

<font color=goldenrod>I think it'd be funnier if the court allows it but then once his playing career is over he tries to change it back and they say no.</font>

VonErichLives 08-13-2008 03:33 PM

John Lynch is visiting New England today.

Lynch has said before if the Pats didn't sign Harrison he already would have been here, and Belicheck was convincing him they could use both of them but Lynch wanted a promise he'd start all the time...

Kris P Lettus 08-13-2008 04:30 PM

Who is yall's other starting saftey??

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-13-2008 05:06 PM

James Sanders was last year but he is injured right now, Brandon Merriweather (from The U) has been playing with the first team in his absence. I really don't see how Lynch and Harrison can play together but maybe they could think up some crazy shit or something

Kris P Lettus 08-13-2008 05:07 PM

Do they not like each other or something??

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-13-2008 05:11 PM

No they are just both the same exact player, physical hitting safeties that are great against the run but have very limited coverage abilities

Kris P Lettus 08-13-2008 05:23 PM

I always thought Lynch was good in coverage..

:dunno:

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-13-2008 05:28 PM

Yeah but Lynch is 36 years old now...

Harrison used to be good in coverage too but not so much anymore

Kris P Lettus 08-13-2008 05:36 PM

Gotcha..

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-13-2008 05:37 PM

I don't see him signing with the Patriots anyway, I know hes visiting or whatever but I'd be real surprised if it happened.

VonErichLives 08-13-2008 06:27 PM

word is he left Denver because they said he wouldn't be a starter, I'd also be surprised to see a lynch/harrison backfield, but maybe Belicheck can convince Lynch that they rotate players so much he'll still see plenty of time? Plus if he wants a shot at one more ring, NE or Indy would be the top 2 places to go. (sorry NYG, no offense intended).

Gonzo 08-13-2008 07:07 PM

Thats okay. The "little to no respect" card worked for the GMen last year.

worked for the Pats in 01 and 03...

I almost prefer that to the greatest team crap...

was funny in 2004 everyone finally started giving them the respect and you still had players trying to psych themselves up by saying "no one respects us" and you had reporters going "you're kidding right?"

I'll lmfao if he hangs it up without playing a game and the Jets and they have Kellen Clemens as QB.

Favre didn't really throw that much. It was a lot of Clemens and Ainge and Ratliff. He did throw a few though including a couple deep passes and his arm seemed pretty good 2 me.

Also Rachel Nichols was there and some hispanic kid shouted at her saying he would be "watching her all season" and she looked up and then kept walking by.

yeah but, this isn't december when he's done it 10K times, this is day 5 of practice...

He's not worried, so could be nothing big...

but when you have a 38yr old QB, who originally was retired, didn't participate in any team off-season conditioning programs and is already feeling Arm Fatigue...

it could be nothing, but it's not exactly a good sign either.

Hanso Amore 08-14-2008 10:49 AM

I hope Farve drops dead in the middle of a game. I hate him.

The way he has held Green Bay hostage the last few years (Will he or wont he?) They finally were ready to move on (investing a major pick in his replacement that they could have used elsewhere had he not jerked them around) and now he came back and ruined the Team's image in their City so that he can play again, and worked his way out of town. How can anyone root for a prick like that?

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 11:53 AM

How can anyone like chicks with dicks??

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 02:47 PM

Big Fat Hollis Thomas tore his tricep at practice yesterday and will be out for 2 months.. I guess all that depth on the line will def now be tested.. So glad we got Sed Ellis now..

SammyG 08-14-2008 05:20 PM

Jackson possibly firing his agent. That would be amazing.

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 05:32 PM

Are they showing y'all's teams preseason games locally where ever you live??

Like, the paper say Fox is showing the Panthers and Eagles tonight, but no mention of the Saints.. It seems they've always shown all the preseason games in the past..

Triple A 08-14-2008 06:29 PM

Panthers vs. Eagles is the only game on tonight. The Saints play Saturday.

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 08:01 PM

that was my assumption when they brought him in to talk right after Tank went down.

Makes sense in that roll, and his age/speed shouldn't be an issue there, I don't see him being asked to man-up on top WR's in the league.

I'm gonna get a Sed Ellis jersey around Christmas time..

Maybe Vilma..

Dunno..

Gonzo 08-16-2008 12:17 AM

Go Ellis, the younger the player the more years you can wear it...

found a drawer with some old ones...

have an old orange elway, aikman, favre, I think Ken Norton... I remember a site years ago had the replicas on sale and I bought a bunch... used most of them as gifts..

Oh, I love the Patriots... "throw backs" are like 30-50 more then current players and I'm not just talking "pat patriot red" unifrms, like the first flying Elvis with Vincent Brown was more money.

Troy Brown was the regular player price... wonder if he officiall retires if the price goes up...

Also, WTF with the Patriots selling black uniforms... I don't remember them ever, ever, ever wearing an all black uni.

Evil Vito 08-16-2008 11:35 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah, younger the better...though I'm not really big on rookie jerseys.

I think I got my Shockey jersey after his great rookie year. It served me well for 3 or so years but by then the numbers were starting to fade a bit, and I wound up making the mistake of getting an older player jersey. I got a Tiki Barber jersey and seriously he announced his retirement a week later.

I figured "well, it's ok...I can still wear it as he'll always be remembered"...then once he became a total prick I pretty much retired the jersey and stuck with the worn out Shockey on game days for another year. :o

Now that he's gone, I've got a brand new Tuck jersey and I got my dad an Umenyiora for his birthday. Defensive ends 4tw

I was tempted to get an away jersey after last year's success on the road but the fact that there's no blue in them still bothers me a bit.</font>

Kris P Lettus 08-16-2008 01:13 PM

I own a Brees and a "throwback" Sam Mills jersey, which is one reason I was leaning towards Ellis, cause who wants two #51 jerseys from the same team..

I was thinking about a white Will Smith jersey too..

:dunno:

Kris P Lettus 08-16-2008 01:14 PM

Also, I lost my favorite jersey of all time in Katrina..

Weird ass ending to the Jets game.

Redskins were up 13-10.

5 seconds left in the 4th.

Jets at the Skins 6 yd line. 3rd and goal.

Mangini decides to kick a fg to send it to overtime for some reason?

And Mike Nugent misses the 23 yd fg and the Jets lose anyway. Preseason yeah but I dunno kinda dumb.

he's old, he's not in "game shape", he has a new system to learn and has admitted many times he loves to play but hates to study...

I just still think this was a really bad move for the Jets, (which of course makes me happy), but time will tell.

How is it a bad move?

They would not have done anything with Pennington this year.

Clemens also hasn't been that great. Being a backup under Favre will help him "develop". They would have been like 5-11 I bet if Clemens started this year.

Also just the publicity factor. Everyone is talking about and watching the Jets now.

SammyG 08-17-2008 03:38 AM

I'm not. Gonna watch them 1 time this year, when the Rams play them.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-17-2008 03:45 AM

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Favre's abilities right now but its better than whatever they had before. Favre will end the season with a terrible game in the playoffs (has the last 5 seasons)

Nah, no way does he get the jets into the Playoffs. He will throw his 25th INT in a loss in week 16, and tuck his tail and retire.

Jason "TOAST" David is the worst cornerback in the league.. Byfar.. Bobby Herbert was saying that he thinks Payton is keeping him with alot of playing time in the preseason, allowing himself to prove he's the same overpaid piece of shit he was last year.. So when he cuts him in the next week or two, no arguement will ensue..

Fuck Jason David in his stupid ass..

Evil Vito 08-17-2008 07:42 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Gonna be interesting to watch the G-Men tomorrow seeing as their top 5 receivers are all not gonna play (Burress, Toomer, Smith, Tyree, Manningham).

Domenik Hixon, Sinorice Moss, Michael Jennings, DJ Hall, and Craphonso Thorpe are gonna be pretty much auditioning for Tyree and Manningham's spots since they are both probably gonna start on the PUP list.</font>

Gonzo 08-17-2008 07:57 PM

I think Hixon is pretty secure based on his return abilities, unless they decide to go with Bradshaw instead.

Evil Vito 08-17-2008 10:10 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah Hixon is prolly the safest bet, but he's also playing for more playing time with the injuries.

Another guy I forgot to mention is Brandon London, supposedly he's been impressing in camp.

If Tyree and Manningham are both headed for the PUP list (Tyree is almost a foregone conclusion, not sure on Manningham)...at least 3 of those WR are gonna make the team...possibly even 4 if nobody establishes themselves as a 3rd TE</font>

OssMan 08-17-2008 11:03 PM

Any time I hear the name Craphonso I think that someone is making a bad pun on his name, and implying that he is "crap"

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-17-2008 11:33 PM

Patriots 2nd offense is looking like absolute poo out there tonight, all the back up QBs look terrible too.

Crimson 08-17-2008 11:49 PM

good thing Brady never gets injured

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-18-2008 12:24 AM

If hes does though they are fucked, well I guess a lot of teams would be if their starting QB went down. Still though, would like to see them do a little something, it was all garbage for the most part.

lol@ Tampa having 5 QBs though. Come on
