*Search negative* Free DLC might be naive, but I doubt he was asking to pay for it. Nor is it impossible. If Koei can release new outfits and shit for free, surely Rockstar can. |
When I read "DLC", I ALWAYS assume paid unless specified as free. If I'm wrong, okay. Free DLC like that is :y:.
|
Absolutely. I should've specified that the game should start out like GTA 4, where you only have a limited selection of clothes and no options for haircuts or tattoos, but later on sometime after its release, Rockstar starts creating and releasing new clothes, haircuts, and tattoos as DLC for free. I sure wouldn't pay though.

Bring back the army tanks
|
And a hidden 'attack dog ' cheat where dogs come outta nowhere and kill pedestrians around you
|
Can't forget to bring back the pedestrians riot cheat as well.
Was always worth a few laughs seeing everyone start brawling while just watching the whole thing occur in Vice City while in San Andreas it was an even bigger riot with smoke coming from buildings and cars on fire everywhere. |
I like how my sweet ride hoarding was useful in Los Santos at the end of SA due to the lack of cars.

However, Saints Row 2 offered the Unkut pack, and that added a ton of stuff. Was it as pretty as GTAIV? No, but certainly they could do it. Continued support is a good way to keep people buying your game, and freedbies always help. |
Its funny, I always have a Tampa and a remodeled Clover in the Garage from the Start.

I hear the expansions were good, but hooboy. |
To be frank, Liberty City in GTA4 wasn't that much fun to dick around in either.

New trailer this week!

I am not counting online and I found SA far more entertaining with all the cool places to go.
|
yeah SA and VC were way way better than GTA 4.
|
VC wasn't as good in my opinion. In SA you just felt like you were free to do whatever. Here you feel like you are in a box.
|
In terms of gameplay, San Andreas = the most enjoyable video game I’ve ever played, hands down. I simply don’t get why people want realism in games. If I wanted realism, I’d get in my car.
|
Do you really not understand why people want realism in games or are you just saying that
|
Depends on how far the realism goes, honestly.
If you think GTA 4 is "realistic", I've got news for you. |
Quote:
If people wanted realism, Call of Duty would be weeks of asking your parents to buy you better equipment, followed by 18 months recovering from combat in a shitty hospital that's underfunded and forgotten because it only serves people no longer fighting. It's not "realism" people want, it's sluggish brown they want. Still, in an era where millions of people are playing games which equate to chores, GTA is kind of a minor offender. |
Ok, we're at that time again when an "unnamed source" starts claiming to have details about the next GTA game. The details had two parts, one was just general details and the other was major spoilers. I haven't read the major spoilers so what I'm posting here is the general details.
These spoilers tell you... Who the main character is. Where and when it takes place. How the story begins. What the game revolves around. What game modes are in and how many players the MP has. Info about the PC version. Info about the map. Minor gameplay details. SPOILER: show If you read and post the major spoilers, always mark them as such. I don't want to come into this thread and see the ending has been posted. I had LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption spoiled for me because of that, I don't want that happening with GTA V. |

The driving in GTA 4 was far from realistic, and the story was pretty amazing, probably the best in the series. WTF?

As much fun as each GTA has been, VC and SA had the same basic story. You start with nothing, you do some work for various people, an antagonist is introduced, you eventually kill the antagonist, you get rich and/or powerful, role credits. I guess I just don't like the whole rags to riches story. It was good that GTA IV didn't follow that formula exactly, though I know it did follow it to a degree. It felt more satifying to me to have Niko/Johnny have a bitter sweet ending of "It's over, but..." than if they included an ending where Niko becomes a multimillionaire crime lord. It wasn't all gloom, though. Luis had a pretty happy ending for a GTA game. It showed you could have a "happy" ending without going the money and power route each time. |

I think he can't hear. That's the problem.

The city in GTAIV always looked the same no matter where I went. I know its based on NYC, but still.
|
Well, to be fair, New York lacks any discernible landmarks or variations in architecture.
|
SPOILER: show |
Why is that a spoiler, true or not.
|
I was just playing GTA4 and I parked a brown car and now I can't find it anywheres. They really need one of those remotes that honks the horn.

Leak I just read says its a continuation of GTA: SA. Where CJ goes back to Liberty City to tie up loose ends he had when he came back to Los Santos.
|
If Vice City gets skipped for San Andreas I'll be one unhappy 80s kid.
|
No way on the continuation rumor. Rockstar has said a thousand times they're done with the GTAIII continuity. Believe they've also said they're done with Liberty City, at least for a while. So that rumor goes against everything
And I can't remember where I read it, but they justified skipping over Vice City pretty well. If Rockstar's goal is to keep the setting modern day, a modern day San Andreas stands to be waaaaaaaaay more interesting than a modern day Vice City |
The reason for skipping VC was that they thought they had captured Miami pretty well the first time where as they felt LC was worth revisiting to do it right.
I also found out recently that, apparantly, GTA 1 and 2 were just videogames with in the GTA universe. |
I want all the stuff San Andreas had that GTA IV didn’t like haircuts, tattoos, working out at the gym, etc.

The first thing you see in the trailer is a dog. So animals are in. Considering they put dogs in and it looks like they have a wilderness in the game (the guys in front of the mountain) I'm willing to bet we'll get wild animals aswell.
|
Just tell me online Free Mode will adopt all of RDD's improvements and smoothness.
|
I don't see why not. It went down a storm for RDR. They might not have bounties but I can't see why they wouldn't have everything else in some way (leveling up, gang hide outs, forming a gang, hunting etc).
|
A worker for R* (yes, a real one) on FB has said "the map is 2,5 times bigger than RDR". I'm not sure what he means by 2,5.
Either he means between 2 and 5 times the size of RDR or he means it's 2x5 times the size of RDR or, least likely, he meant it's 25 times the size of RDR. |
2.5
Two and a half |
Yeah, I realised that a second ago.
|
That's awesome, but a part of me really wanted VC to be the city. Miami, bitches.
Still, the multiplayer in GT4 and RDR were TPWW faves (GTA4 began the TPWW Inv series). Details will be a long ways off but I'm eager for them. |
If the leaked details are true, we're looking at 32 player free roam on consoles. Given how big the map is, I'd say that makes sense.
|
H-hey!
|
Well, it certainly looks nice. Here's hoping for a ludicrously detailed San Andreas type open world.
|
Someone has pointed out that all the licence plates say San Andreas, which makes sense because that's the state they are in, but one scene (the guys in red coming out the van) has a plate that reads "Las Palmas".
Suggestion is Las Palmas is the state Vice City is in. Seems a stretch but you never know. |
A tale of two coasts.
|
Well they have noticed that certain characters are shown multiple times in the trailer. The Frank West look-a-like and the bald guy running from the police.
Another detail was that we'd play as multiple people and that money was a big deal to the story. The trailer shows wealth and then shows poverty. We see a guy in a big house, then people living on the street. We see a guy in a sports car and then a guy begging on the street. etc. So it could be true and we could be playing in SA and VC from different financial/racial backgrounds. |
Though I think that's unlikely.
|
So is this next gen? Looks too good...
|
No it doesn't. It's where today's consoles are at.
|
They never stated which consoles the game is for at the end of the trailer. Given how big the map is and how good it looks, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a next gen launch game.
Though, no one but Nintendo has a console coming out any time soon and R* aren't going to dangle GTA V in front of us for 2+ years. |
Quote:
|
What? That looks like current gen. If that's all next-gen has to offer us, then I'm already disappointed. Why do people think that looks like anything past what current gen can do? Seems like they are really just 'pushing the limitations' of the current gen.
|
Looks like V is in the same universe as IV, according to some people.
GTA IV (All 3 episodes) spoiler: SPOILER: show |
Based on how things went with GTAIV, I'd say this is def a current gen game, though possibly a WiiU launch title.
IV's trailer debuted end of March '07 and had an October '07 launch date, though that did get delayed to April '08 due to technical issues with the PS3 and storage issues with 360, things that shouldn't be a problem now. So if they're showing it off now, it's probably just about done and almost ready for release, and with Sony and Microsoft not saying shit about their new consoles yet, I just can't see this being a next gen title |

Looks sleeker than IV to me...
|
Thank god the real thread is here finally. Was getting anxious.
|
Don't almost all sequels to any game look sleeker, even when on the same console? Having more experience with the system can make all the difference
|
It could very well be the PC version that they are showing.
Also, developers still haven't tapped the full potential of the current gen consoles. |
Grand Theft Auto V will be set in Rockstar's fictional world of San Andreas.
San Andreas is a fictional U.S Southwestern state which includes three cites based on real U.S cities - Los Santos, (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco) and Las Venturas (Las Vegas). Rockstar has a habit of tweaking its cities, and GTA V is set in modern day, so it's possible that area names and the city's layout will change. Previously, it has only appeared in one game - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which came out in 2004. That game was based in the early 1990s against a a backdrop of drug crimes and gang warfare. It drew heavily upon cultural references such as the movie Boyz n the Hood and musical influences such as Tupac. San Andreas differs from GTA 4's Liberty City not only in that it comprises three cities - and rural territory between them - but also in its heavy California culture. GTA: San Andreas remains the best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1211341p1.html |
Some good facts there.
I heard you can drive cars in this one. |
