About to watch the season premier right now. Hopes are ridiculously high. Possibly too high.

Jura 10-13-2012 10:22 PM

Don't get your hopes up.

#1-norm-fan 10-13-2012 11:18 PM

Well that was... odd.

Lock Jaw 10-14-2012 03:06 AM

The show usually is

#1-norm-fan 10-17-2012 02:38 PM

Yes but this was odd as in underwhelming and not at all what I expected from the season premiere.

It did feel like a mid-season episode, especially after the far superior opener for last season (Frank's Pretty Woman).

I liked the latest episode but I feel they're now a little too dependent on referencing old stories and bringing back old characters to get a buzz. The entire episode played with the idea of 'recycling' old situations and jokes, while the premiere brought back the Nazi pop-pop, and last season's double finale was no more than a tribute to previous guest stars.

I can imagine people who aren't fans, never mind die-hard fans, finding it hard to get out a laugh out of the latest episodes.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-26-2012 10:12 AM

I'm not a die hard by any means but have watched enough of the show to get the idea of what's going on in this new season. They do little things to catch a viewer up on what they need to know about each character they re-introduce. For instance in this latest episode I didn't really know the Ponderosa's that well and have only seen a couple of McPoyle episodes, but they let you know a couple of key things. Girl Ponderosa= Dennis's ex wife, and the way Dennis acted showed the dynamic of their "relationship". Dad Ponderosa= drug addict and Frank was his AA sponsor so you can see how bad that can turn out. If you understand the MAIN characters it's easy to understand the bit characters.

The problem they have is obviously shit gets WAY too zaney because (this is from Glenn Howerton's mouth) they have "jumped the shark" over and over and over on purpose so at one point or another it's going to be hard to keep up the quality of the show. The good thing is that that the cast is very funny and talented as comic actors and are able to carry the show with such ridiculous premises.

Chavo Classic 10-26-2012 06:33 PM

Just watched the latest episode, which was fantastic.

I think your point about the McPoyles isn't the same as my own. The McPoyles go way back to season 1 and are more recurring than guest stars. My problem with the episodes before this latest one was a over-reliance on minor characters (like the gay owner of Oldies Rock Cafe), forgettable storylines (Frank and Dee trying to seduce a city official) or references to obscure jokes (Mac oiling up his boot-straps and doing some ploughing of his own... not gay sex).

The latest episode felt like something they've taken care in writing and the addition of the McPoyles and the Pondarosas added to the story as well as being pivotal. Felt like an episode from an earlier season.

Chavo Classic 10-26-2012 06:34 PM

Regardless of all this, it's still the show I look forward to most and would recommend to anyone.

McLegend 11-01-2012 10:33 PM

Yeah this last one was pretty great.

#1-norm-fan 11-01-2012 10:37 PM

I don't know if I was just so kinda let down by the season premiere that I didn't make it a point to watch the last two but it wasn't even on my mind despite how hyped I was for the season. Gonna look for the new episodes online and catch up tonight.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-02-2012 11:16 AM

LOL that was fucking epic

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-02-2012 11:19 AM

Dennis tries to bang the chick... "sorry... I went into default mode" bahahaha

McLegend 11-02-2012 04:10 PM

If you're in my room, you're always being filmed.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-02-2012 06:32 PM

And so it was Charlie with the cruelest of intentions.

Chavo Classic 11-04-2012 06:30 AM

So glad to see Charlie get the upper hand for once

Chavo Classic 11-17-2012 06:19 AM

Well, that episode was messed up

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-17-2012 09:29 AM

classic Frank.

McLegend 11-17-2012 10:25 AM

Yeah Frank is awesome.

I don't like it when they try to send a message, and become kind of preachy.

McLegend 11-17-2012 10:30 AM

However with that said Dennis' little homily was pretty good.

McLegend 11-17-2012 10:34 AM

And Diddy playing Right Stuff on the bass was hilarious.

lol I dunno if I'd classify it as preachy. More just reality. But I know what you mean, it's a fine line.

#1-norm-fan 01-16-2015 07:48 AM

So this show is still incredible 10 seasons in.

KIRA 01-16-2015 10:08 AM

Dennis is a monster.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw it but they've always worked well together and they confirmed pretty much that their roles are the result of expectations.

It was kinda sweet seeing them calm one another down and supporting one another......But this IS It's always sunny.......

legendary and kinda sad episode (shows just how utterly pathetic the gang is)

weather vane 03-01-2015 09:56 PM

Best show ever

loopydate 03-05-2015 01:46 PM

I went to middle and high school with the girl who played the stage manager on last night's episode. Her name is Megan Messmer. Kind of cool to see her chasing her dreams.

KIRA 03-05-2015 02:15 PM

I loved Dennis slow meltdown though I thought it would be violent it was still great.

Evil Vito 03-05-2015 02:23 PM

This season has been practically perfect. Consistently warped and hilarious.

KIRA 03-06-2015 12:15 AM

It kinda seems they have REALLY focused on tearing down the Gangs perceptions of themselves this season though mostly Dennis I keep thinking that his ego can't take much more but I remember that nothing they learn ever sticks so they can tear into him all they want and he'll just build himself back up.

Charlie has been unstoppable this season

Also KEEGAN MICHAEL KEY his ability to display an undercurrent of anger and frustration is a joy to behold

Shisen Kopf 03-06-2015 07:50 AM

Haven't watched this show in a while. Only posting to have the last post in every forum. Wooooooo!
