Dave Youell 08-11-2009 02:59 AM

Cheers dude.

So basically the update on the disc puts you onto 4.1 and this is the new thingy that sorts it, at work right now. Will sort all that out tonight

Sorry Funky.

Honestly, I have no idea. The theory would be that it should work. There's a few cube games I wanted to try out anyone, if I find any torrents, i'll let you know

Boomer 08-11-2009 07:33 AM

The answer is yes. Gamecube copies work fine with a modchip.

Savio 08-12-2009 08:17 PM

Ok now i am trying to play wii sports (first one) again and I am just getting a black screen when it worked before.......super paper mario works but not this....what gives?

Savio 08-12-2009 08:21 PM

worked in the different usb drive nevermind

G 08-14-2009 08:40 AM

No, it just loads the installation files from the SD.

0002 error with Wii Sports Resort

Patcher and Srubber not picking it up?

That .dol file? Is it generic? Could I just add a .dol file that has been scrubbed from another game? Or not that simple?

Dave Youell 08-15-2009 06:36 AM

and tiger woods!

BAH!

I don't know the specifics, but you need to use a loader that'll switch the .dol or something.

Dave Youell 08-15-2009 09:11 AM

Yeah, this is a royal pain in the ass, aparently using gamma v6 will sort it. I'm only using 0.3.

I've got a wad version, but i'd rather have it as a channel as I use my sd card for other things so don't want to rely on it.

Any ideas people?

G 08-15-2009 09:15 AM

See if there is anything in here.

I don't know what your Tiger Woods problem is. I think I burned that before I learned how to fix the 002 on the computer, so I probably used a loader with the 002 fix.

Dave Youell 08-15-2009 02:44 PM

Ok, fixed it.

I was running of Gamma 0.3. Now on Neogamma v6, which has an 002 anti fix with it.

Have also found a way to make this app and all other wads a channel using the wad manager, which is nice

Savio 08-16-2009 09:53 PM

havin problems with punch out (black screen after i patch 001 + 002 errors).....how bout u guys who downloaded it any problems for yall with it?

G 08-16-2009 10:19 PM

Worked fine for me using a channel with 002 fix.

Savio 08-16-2009 10:21 PM

usb loader gx?

G 08-16-2009 10:22 PM

No, I don't mess with USB loaders anymore. Next time I turn my Wii on I will post the two channels I have with 002 fixes. I do know that one of them plays rap music when you click on the channel.

Savio 08-16-2009 10:25 PM

CoverFloader plays a rap like beat

G 08-16-2009 10:26 PM

It's not a USB loader, I promise. These were channels I installed before getting into using a USB drive.

Savio 08-16-2009 10:43 PM

oh well i'll give it a try when you post it

G 08-16-2009 10:44 PM

I'll do it tomorrow before school.

Dave Youell 08-17-2009 07:51 AM

I've also got hold of a wad creator if anyone is interested. So you can make wads and then loads them as channels.

G 08-17-2009 08:11 AM

Gamma 0.3 with 002 Fix (don't have a link)

Gecko OS with 002 Fix

Dave Youell 08-17-2009 01:13 PM

I've got Gamma 0.3, doesn't fix all 002 games though. Just be aware

Dave Youell 08-18-2009 03:24 PM

FUCK!

I still can't get WSR working!!!!

Gamma 0.3 gives a 002 error

NeoGAMMA just re sets is before it even loads

I've been reading about this for 4 fucking days now!!!!

Dave Youell 08-18-2009 03:25 PM

Maybe it's the iso? Anyone point me in the direction of where you guys have got hold of your copies?

G 08-18-2009 04:32 PM

Are you using an alt dol?

This is where I got mine

Dave Youell 08-19-2009 03:31 AM

Yeah I've tried using that .dol off the sd card, but it's not reading it, I put it on the root of the card, but it's saying there's an error reading it off neogamma.

Savio 08-20-2009 12:31 PM

Any of you got the N64 emulator Wii64?....does it play games for you?

G 08-20-2009 04:46 PM

I just install N64 wads and play from there.

Savio 08-20-2009 10:41 PM

Do they have the .z64 extension? I have Dr. mario 64 and I tried running it in Wii64 but it didn't work.

G 08-21-2009 07:41 AM

They are wads, so they have the .wad extension. :p

Savio 08-21-2009 08:34 PM

oh, hmmmm so I am guess I download the Dr Mario 64 wad, use the wad installer and then just make it into a channel, right?

G 08-21-2009 09:13 PM

yah

they should make a channel on their own

Savio 08-21-2009 09:29 PM

one doesn't exsist :(

G 08-21-2009 11:30 PM

i'm sayin that when you install the wad, it creates a channel for it automatically, as if you bought it from the virtual console.

o rly?

brb!

G 08-22-2009 04:34 PM

it's because they are straight rips from the virtual console. i dunno how games that are not on the virtual console will work though (i know they make them, just haven't tried it).

Savio 08-26-2009 11:19 PM

Yeah No one made one for Dr. Mario 64

<table style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Trebuchet MS,Sans-Serif,Georgia,Courier,Times New Roman,Serif;" border="0" bordercolor="#111111" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="newshdr" style="font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" valign="top" width="0%">http://gbatemp.net/images/icons/wii.gif </td> <td class="newshdr" style="font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" valign="top" width="100%"> Wii system menu 4.2 released!

</td> </tr></tbody></table>

Nintendo has been so kind as to release system menu 4.2 for the Wii. This update will delete The Homebrew Channel, all cIOS files and remove bootmii from your system. It appears that all IOS files have been updated and a few new ones installed. Effectively, it will remove and all homebrew and iso loading capabilities from your console so for now we recommend not upgrading!

Not much else is known about the update, but it doesn't appear to add any new functionality. For now feel free to discuss the new update in our thread linked to below:

don't update yer wiis :p

Dave Youell 09-29-2009 08:41 AM

Thanks for the tip off.

So it doesn't brick it then? Just removes it? Interesting....

OssMan 09-29-2009 11:40 AM

shit

Vietnamese Crippler 09-29-2009 03:19 PM

I'll stick with my 3.4U, thank you very much :o

G 09-29-2009 04:09 PM

chillax fellas, there will be a fix eventually. unfortunately, the main guy making all the fixes has left the scene. apparently, you need to update in order to access the shop channel. however, if you're modded, you don't need to go on there and buy anything anyways.

Savio 10-03-2009 03:28 PM

I hear bannerbomb already has a homebrew channel for 4.2

G 10-11-2009 02:31 PM

Quick update:

I haven't been paying too much attention to upgrades and stuff, since I haven't been playing the Wii. Today I had to upgrade to cIOS rev 14 because of the (new to me, probably old to some) new 002 protection. Tried to play Wii Fit Plus and got 002 error on every loader I have. So I upgraded to cIOS rev 14, installed Neogamma R7 and it works fine. Still haven't done the 4.2 upgrade. Probably won't until something forces me to.

OssMan 12-18-2009 04:54 PM

Any news on how to get around this/reinstall after it has been deleted

G 12-18-2009 05:33 PM

yeah the fix was out like a week after the update

Indifferent Clox 12-18-2009 07:55 PM

so there is a fix? so even with my new wii i can still do all the cool shit ?

Savio 12-18-2009 08:02 PM

go to wiibrew.org or .com or somethin

OssMan 12-18-2009 08:06 PM

For some reason I am paranoid that if I copy all my SD card data onto my computer and then back onto my SD card (since you need to wipe it for Bannerbomb) that all of my saved games in the actual roms will be gone. like not the save states i made, the times i actually went to a save point in final fantasy or something. not sure why, but i think this happened to me one time. please somebody prove me wrong.

G 12-18-2009 09:23 PM

here is how to update. indifferent clox can mod his shit using this too.

Savio 12-18-2009 09:45 PM

G is you lived near me I'd pay you 50 bucks to hook me up cuz i've only been able to get Wii sports and paper mario to work. Got very frustrated working on it

You might want to check your local Craigslist. A guy I met at school sells copies via craigslist. There is a couple of other guys that do so also.

You mentioned you are having trouble getting your games to work. So yeah, I noticed in my area there is a few guys that sell copies of the game. Usually, for decent prices..around 3-4 bucks.

correct me if i'm wrong here. i follow this guide after i run the wii system update and have homebrew channel deleted. then i install homebrew channel through this bannerbomb thing, and everything he mentions such as "WAD Installer 1.5" will already be on there and ready to run?

G 12-19-2009 05:48 PM

if that's what the directions say. i haven't looked over it in a long time.

Indifferent Clox 12-19-2009 09:21 PM

oh damn def a good deal

G 12-19-2009 11:05 PM

you have to understand, it's not just the game itself. it could be which loader you use, to missing a certain cios to everything in between. hell, i could burn you the same copies i play and they might not work in your wii.

Savio 12-19-2009 11:18 PM

yeah I know thats why im frusturated with it...I think its either my 8 gig flash drive i use or my 8 gig sd card.

G 12-20-2009 10:10 PM

here is new super mario wii which has already been patched, scrubbed and the update has been removed. downloading it now. hopefully this works.

G 12-20-2009 11:01 PM

it works

i'm using neogamma r7 and cios rev14

Fucking can't believe this. I was so fed up with the loud vibrating noise it was making. Gonna have to send it in to Nintendo. Really wanted to play Silent Hill, too. Burned a copy and everything yesterday. :(

Savio 12-31-2009 03:06 PM

How did you break it?

G 12-31-2009 03:08 PM

Bent a metal piece to stop the vibrating, but now it won't read the disc unless I press a different metal piece down while the disc spins.

OssMan 12-31-2009 04:02 PM

"got around" the 4.2 update because I am on system menu 4.2 and still have homebrew channel.

G 12-31-2009 04:34 PM

did you use the link i posted or what

G 12-31-2009 04:35 PM

V 01-07-2010 04:19 PM

not sure if it's been mentioned, but if you buy rock band 2 for the wii, you can mod your wii into thinking you've purchased every song on the music store, and even install songs from other rock band/guitar hero games onto RB2. it's quite awesome.

the only downside is, you have to have a legit copy of rock band 2, and buy all the instruments :)

RoXer 01-07-2010 04:20 PM

I hope G doesn't read that.

This one (RB2) seems to be easier, because it makes the DLC store show all the songs as purchased, so then you just download what songs you want.

Got the World Tour DLC working. There is one problem, however. You need the retail disc in order to delete the songs off the Wii. Not the SD card, but the Wii memory. Something about the loaders not knowing how to do it. BUT, since there is only ONE song that I wanted (which is the one I paid for on the 360), I will not be needing to delete it and it can stay on my Wii FOREVER. I have burned World Tour, Metallica and Smash Hits. I just need to buy a World Tour guitar now, which is only $34 shipped (new) on eBay. After looking at compatibility charts, I find that the World Tour guitar is the best option.

NOW, I look into RB's DLC.

Something happened when I was using those directions to get around the 4.2 update. I get this weird Opera browser error whenever I try to go into Wii system setting. Everything works fine other than that though. Don't know how to fix.

mitch_h 02-01-2010 10:43 PM

Question about the DVD app. Is there region coding on it, or would I be able to play region 2 dvd's on my Wii? I figure this would beat buying a region free DVD player.

I wouldn't advise it. I've heard that the Wii disc drive isn't really designed for the wear of playing DVD movies (which admittedly, could be BS), and is it really all that better than downloading DVD Region-Free on your PC, or buying a cheap DVD player ($30?) that will probably have a region hack ( www.videohelp.com )

it plays them just fine. nintendo didn't include it to play dvds because they would have to pay licensing

Didn't your disc drive crap out on the last page? I'm not saying for sure that they're connected, but it'd make me think twice.

I believe one of the main causes for ps2 problems was how the disc runs almost 2-3 times faster for a dvd film than a ps2 game and over time of playing dvd films and games, the lens or drive itself would crap out and need to be fixed or replaced.

I assume since the Wii now uses a DVD-like format, they didn't want this issue to be possible and didn't want to pay royalties to the DVD Forum when they made their exclusive deal with Panasonic (who is part of the the DVD Forum).
