True, but their portfolios aren't nearly as cluttered with shit that won't sell because it sucks too much or is way overpriced or both. They need to take a hard look at themselves in the mirror and realize that shit like used game sales isn't the cause of their problems; it's the effect.

Been considering picking up Saints Row 2 but just have a quick question. How strict or lenient is the wanted system in the game in terms of free roaming or goofing off and not playing missions?
Is it like GTA where if you accidentally crash into a police car, that automatically gets 1 star or wanted level or hit a few people and it goes up regardless if there were police around? I know in older GTA games 2 stars and above would have aggressive cops chasing but they reduced the cops going all out on a 2 star level in GTA IV. |

It's much more lenient than GTA. The only things I'd say GTA IV has over SR2, is graphics, and it's cover systems. Then again, some people don't even like cover systems, so that doesn't even count. Personal preference really.
|
Nah, you got it KK. Plus they have those drive thru forgiveness thingies.

THQ reveals their DLC plans for the game include having roughly 40 weeks of DLC pack releases and make the game's content be interesting enough to keep people interested in playing the game and reduce the overall amount of used copies.

Probably going to be very similar to what Capcom or Bethesda does with DLC content in being mostly new costumes, colors, and weapons/cars.
It is briefly referenced in the article but THQ already did something similar with MX vs ATV although they charged that game at a discount price and then had the DLC cover everything else. It ended up being a huge mistake and might have killed off the series due to all the stuff lacking in comparison to other racing games. |

I'm wondering if there will be a code for new purchases that allows the later stuff. They did say combating the overall volume of used games. I mean, they could be retarded enough to think making us spend 80 more bucks or adding just clothing packs and small items will keep us paying, but MAYBE they have a clue. The DLC pricing for the last game was kind of weird, with the first one being overly expensive for its content, the second being much beefier for a lower price point, and the last one being a free clothing pack (With a bunch of stuff). One of the things I've had my fingers crossed for on this game is that they would have finally figured it out. I like the vow of "continued support through DLC." This sounds a little too much like a marketing ploy rather than real support tho. |
As long as there is a lot of content on the disc, then I don't see the problem with this.

Saints Row Initiation Station demo is available. You can download it to XBox 360 and I think PS3 with instructions on Saintsrow.com . You can create your character, upload it to your SR account, and make ' em public. You can then download any character made public.
There's less customisation in this one, it's obvious from the creator. I'm assuming more clothing options will open up in-game, but you can't do layers anymore, you're you're limited to a single top, bottom, etc. Within that, there ARE a lot of choices, and most of them look good. And holy shit, I'm making a Steampunk character next time I boot it up. It's a bit of a shame, but I'm still psyched. |
I love the "zombie" voice for your character.
|
It's all the rage.
|
It's also on Steam, but not in the UK as you can't buy it on Steam in the UK as Game threw their toys out the pram and told THQ they wouldn't stock the PC version if it was on Steam.
It uses Steamworks though, so even on disc it needs Steam... |
Hehe. Game is upset by a monopoly. Whodathunk?
|
Especially funny that it requires Steam though.

Created a chick with huge boobs and uploaded.

So SR3 is using an online pass system for its co-op. I know this was hinted at before, but it's kinda confirmed now
I think this is the last THQ-published title I bother buying. Even if they're already promising Saints Row 4. |
Every game I've bought with an online pass, has been a game I was going to buy new regardless, so I haven't really been affected by this.
Sucks for the consumer, but really, these companies are taking major hits from the used game market, so I can't really blame them for trying to get paid for all the work they put in to these titles. |

Yeah, they're really taking a beating. |
Listen, if it means less poor people, stinking up xbox live with their poor people odors, then I am all for it.
Disgusting, filth ridden, mongrels. |
that's it. OCCUPY XBOX!
|
Might just ask Santa for this for Christmas. Skyrim will take all of my time anyways.
|
Even though THQ promised an exclusive free game mode for PS3 versions of the game at E3 this year, it turns out they ended up removing the mode or exclusive content with no official reason given.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ion-3-content/ Joystick has speculated this might have been the current "Whored Mode" that was announced to be in all versions. |
Finished the first few missions, and they may be the greatest opening missions in a game ever.
People who have gotten it early, have been saying all week that they took a lot of stuff out from SR2, but the general consensus is that the new stuff makes up for it. Also, I saw a video online of the shark gun dlc, and that shit is going in my active downloads pronto. Can't wait for my stupid looking roomate to get off the damn tv. |
Love that Cena's "You can't see me" taunt is in.
|
Only thing I don't like is that the enemies are fucking bullet sponges. I know it will probably be a lot better once I level the weapons out, but a police officer with no body armor, shouldn't be able to withstand 3 point blank shotgun blasts, or a a whole assault rifle clip. I even try and go for headshots, but they are still standing.

Still, most amazing fun I've had with a game in ages. |
Sorry, I meant Volition/THQ and Sony.

one thing readily apparent is that a lot of the old flaws and glitches are back. Now I know what it must be like to be a Bethesda fanboy, because you can still see a lot of the flaws from the first two.
I found myself slipping into a crack and falling into an area I can't escape, respawning and falling into the same crack again. There's a lot of bugs in co-op, where I or my partner would find ourselves, for example, suddenly outside of the car we were both driving, or (once) halfway across the city. And a minor niggle, but the GPS still does that thing where the GPS will stick as though you're in an aircraft/boat (Don't know if the boat thing's still in, but the heli/plane half is). toggling it seems to fix it, but it's still there. There's a lot of pop-in, and some of it's pretty bad. Also, this may be my connection with my Co-Op Partner In Crime, but the lag was so bad that he (host) was killing people in the Guardian Angel mission because they even showed up on mine. Was useless until the sniping part, which is ironic, because I'm usually useless in the sniping parts. We multiplayer a lot together, and I don't remember ever seeing something that bad. Still, I love this game so hard I could fuck it 'til the disc cracked, so the flaws don't really detract me. It's just...Weird. |
Strange. I haven't encountered any bugs yet. Maybe they are more prevailant in co-op.
