Though if they are Cena-related, WWE has a new gimmick: Cena has the power to rap people to death.

It's tenuous to try and connect this stuff up with suicides because you're basically using the "TV/Video Games/movies/whatever makes you violent" argument, that the medium is actually dictating our behaviours and moralities. I know you're not referencing the kids themselves watching then killing themselves, but for there to be any sort of link, the reason has to be tied in somehow. Like, say, the people who bully them got their morality from WWE, the same way the Columbine guys "learned to kill" from Doom.

At best, you can argue it's poor taste, but I honestly doubt there's an increase in gay teens killing themselves, so it's not so much something new or shocking.

That's not to say "hur hur gay bashing is awesome." It's just saying "STFU with the Jack Thompson defense."

I never ever claimed it was because of the WWE

but I am just saying that young kids who watch WWE will think it's ok to use those words

I'll shut up now

politically incorrect humor is awesome when the observations being made are fresh or intelligent. this was not one of those times.

I see where you are coming from here but isn't it up to the parents to properly educate their children on what is or isn't okay to say?

Of course you didn't. The problem being, there's no reason to bring it up unless you want to equate the two.

Hence, the mockery.

Though WWE should totally have Cena rap people to death.

I thought this was proven true after one of the kids ran over the bodies of his victims in an attempt to re-stock his ammunition...

Apparently Michael Cole called Josh Matthews a "faggot" on twitter. Was picked up by TMZ, post was removed, apology posted.

This. If you listen to John Cena before you listen to your own parents, thats a problem that starts at home.

From the front page:

Less than two weeks after the WWE and GLAAD teamed up to say they were going to work together to curb homophobic slurs in wrestling, one of the WWE’s top announcers tweeted one at a fellow announcer.

Earlier today, Michael Cole simply tweeted one disgusting word towards fellow announcer Josh Mathews. Cole quickly took down the tweet and apologized.

The WWE and GLAAD announced a partnership on March 17 to try and put an end to bullying based on sexual orientation after a series of homophobic taunts was made by wrestler John Cena.

WWE said at the time: “WWE takes this issue very seriously, and has already spoken with our talent about these incidents. We are taking steps and working with GLAAD to ensure that our fans know that WWE is against bullying or discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.”

A rep for the WWE tells TMZ, “WWE has alerted GLAAD to the situation and spoken to Michael Cole about his post. He has removed it and apologized for using hateful language. Michael will be included in the training session being done by GLAAD. WWE takes this very seriously and is against discrimination of any kind based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion or other.”

A rep for GLAAD could not be reached for comment.

TMZ.com has also posted screen caps from Cole’s tweet. It should be noted that Cole earlier tweeted that he was not told to issue an apology. WWE’s statement to TMZ.com contradicts that statement. Once again, damage control at its finest folks! I can’t imagine Vince McMahon is thrilled with this either. Good luck at RAW Monday, Michael!

UPDATE: The Baltimore Sun has picked up the story. Expect a ton more in the coming days.

Are you freaking kidding me?

"TMZ.com has also posted SCREEN CAPS from Cole's tweet".

Screen Caps and all that?

LOL Cole is the man

Kane Knight 03-27-2011 08:17 AM

Oh shit son, it's real now.

SaskatchewanChamp 03-27-2011 12:42 PM

Wouldn't surprise me to see Michael Cole out of a job after Wrestlemania. I can see Lawler beating him so bad he is put in a coma until this all blows over. (Much like Vince McMahon after Bret shit pumped him)

Lock Jaw 03-27-2011 01:41 PM

 Cole isn't going anywhere.

Grablot 03-27-2011 02:07 PM

Vintage Cole! lol.

I think too much is being made of this, Cole is just being in character.

BUT if WWE made a policy for talents to tone down on slurs, then Cole is to blame.
Personally I think GLAAD is just looking for attention. Its an insult, its not saying that gay people are bad, its just a way to diss someone. Like if you call someone shorty, are short people going to have to feel insulted? lol!

Seriously? 10 days after the GLAAD announcement no less you dont see an issue with a homophobic slur being used by a WWE talent?

I honestly think that Cole has just boosted his image even more on WWE, and you know Vince McMahon won't hesitate to jump on something like that to use to his advantage.

actually I bet Vince is pissed

actually I bet Vince is really "ROFL good one, Cole" but he has to act "pissed" in the interest of being politically correct.
