I remember a segment where Eddie, Benoit, malenko, and someone else came through the crowd and hit a their finishers and the crowd erupted. It's on YouTube I'm sure.. The ddp thing was when he was revieled as the stalker for undertakers wife. He pulled that hood off and the crowd went nuts.. Also on youtube

You're welcome.

But seriously, Chavo Guerrero has always been really over.

The person you're missing was Perry Saturn, they were called The Radicalz and they debuted in the WWE in January of 2000. The buyout and subsequent "Invasion" started around Mania of 2001.

The Invasion didn't work b/c smarks hated the booking and the marks boo'ed the "invaders" just because they were WCW guys, not because they were over in any sense or even knew who some of them were. 90% of wrestlers from the Invasion were not "over"

That's something that they never discussed on programming (that I recall) after the buyout - The Radicalz could have been a sort of "advance recon" group for the wCw/ECW alliance.

It was poorly booked, incredibly one sided, I think even Vince would agree in hindsight.

Rammsteinmad 05-05-2013 02:55 PM

The reason the Invasion failed was because Kurt Angle turned on the Alliance.

I'm pretty sure on some DVD Vince flat out said that they fucked up the angle.

People hated the invasion because they didn't use any real WCW stars other than Booker T and how they treated DDP. I think the way Buff Bagwell handled his shit was the reason they knew that they just couldn't trust WCW guys.

I dont remember the Radicalz even being around during the invasion, I'm sure they were all either injured or gone at that point.

Rammsteinmad 05-05-2013 05:28 PM

Perry Saturn was around, but I think he was just squashing jobbers on Heat at the time.

According to Wikipedia, the group disbanded twice with the first happening in 2000 and the other happening right when the Invasion storyline started.

By the time the Invasion started, Eddie was already out of the WWE, Malenko had retired, and Benoit was kicked out of the group months earlier. Saturn and Terri Runnels remained but they split shortly afterwards.

Hmm, would Sandman be considered a mid carder? He was a former ECW champion, but his biggest claim to fame in WWE was his entrance at One Night Stand 2005

Classy and Gassy 05-05-2013 10:50 PM

I dont know if Jake Roberts is considered midcard but the DDT chants were over

Austin joining them pretty much killed it. After all the shit Bischoff did to him in WCW and how much Austin has ranted about his time there it makes no sense for him to then suddenly side with them.

Sandman was never crazy over outside of ECW, where he was pretty much the guy.

What did Buff do?

ron the dial 05-06-2013 11:41 AM

had mommy call in sick for him

Ultra Mantis 05-06-2013 02:15 PM

Then got in a backstage fight which resulted in him getting twatted by Gregory Helms via alleged frozen water bottle.

The Ripper 05-06-2013 02:48 PM

Lance Storm was kinda over. The only time I remember where he was close to actually being a big deal was during the last few years of WCW with his Canadian stable. But his lack of personality really held him back. He's a great in ring guy, and his stuff with his Canadian stable was good but he had the personality of a goldfish.
