The most interesting thing Triple H ever did was cut the legs off his tights and that was cool for 8 seconds before I wondered where The Undertaker was.

Shawn really pushed for Hunter to get his shot. DX was their idea and it got passed because of Shawn. Hunter has always had people in his corner. And it turned out pretty well for him. I'm not saying he didn't do the work but he has had luxuries that many guys have not had. (Ie:best friend main eventers, wife that is the boss of the company) You can not say those things did not help him. You can't. I know the knob gobbling thing is kind of your calling card around here, but it cannot be argued that those things did not have an effect.

As a performer, he's alright. He's not incredible but in no way is he bad. But the esteem you show this guy is a little weird.

Those same main event friends who got him buried for over a year when 2 of them left? The same main eventer who got so coked up that he was long gone from WWE once Triple H become a cemented main eventer? The same wife who made him a multi-time WWE Champion before they ever met?

James Steele 11-14-2013 09:13 PM

Seriously, how can you be so hateful toward a face like this?

By the time Shawn left, Hunter was completely set up for success. He had a brand in DX that he could build off of that had name value. Shawn's contributions sent Triple H to the top of the upper mid-card immediately after he left. Never once did I say that hunter didn't work hard or put in the work, but he had a whole lot of help that other guys don't really get. Marrying Stephanie did not get him to the main event, you are right. Hard work and a little help from his friends got him to the main event. But marrying Stephanie pretty much solidified him being in the main event for the rest of his career.

friends in high places maybe helped initially, absolutely (although I fail to see who on the roster that didn't get "that shot" at the time was any more "equipped" or deserved more to be there) And Michaels was gone from March '98 onwards (in a significantly reduced/non-existent role of influence), at which point Triple H was a solid mid-card act, a decent foil for the "top guy". The most significant portion of his career came with none of those friends around, he took the ball and ran (with a solid supporting cast) and out-did the original DX in a situation where most tend to fail (the "next incarnation" of a successful act) He went from mid-card guy to one of the top babyfaces to the top heel in the company on the back of his own ability, he broke through the glass ceiling on nothing but merit. Where he places amongst the top guys ever is certainly up for debate but he got himself into a position to even be mentioned in that conversation in the first place in the exact same way Austin, Rock and Taker did.

Shelton Benjamin has nobody but himself to blame for his push not working out. He's the one who decided to botch all the time and not improve his mic skills when given the ball.

SO...does anyone else here think the falling out between Pete Leone and HHH is sexually related?
http://www.tpww.net/2013/11/major-ba...t-wwe-firings/

Curd 11-15-2013 02:51 AM

I'm not saying Trips is bi or anything. I think Leone propositioned Stephanie because he got too buddy-buddy with Hunter and didn't think he'd get himself fired.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-15-2013 11:38 AM

Hunter is definitely a top-ish guy, no doubt. But not THE guy. He works with THE guy, and honestly when at his best, brings the most out of THE guy. But a company can not be rested upon his shoulders.

I respect him actually though. He is kind of a huge gay in how he likes to steal thunder, but the man's work ethic cannot be denied. The way he explained how he got into the production and booking part of things just shows how smart and driven he is. One of the few legitimately intelligent and savvy guys in the business, with tons of drive and initiative. It's just a shame that he loves to over shadow people. But I can't say I wouldn't do the same in his position. Spotlight is hard to let go of.

Since this is an appreciation thread I'll list the things I do like about Hunter Hearst Hemsley.

1. His wrestling style went well with his blue blood gimmick it had a certian fanciness about it,but the dude can be the most hardcore fucker in the ring when called to do so.

2.That Conan the Barbarian entrance attire he had.

3. The fact that he knows what its like to be under utilized despite being talented will hopefully make him push talented but misused wrestlers.

The Rogerer 11-17-2013 07:09 PM

4. That he relies on a signature weapon (real tough guy) that he uses in a way that completely brings you down to earth and ruins suspension of disbelief every time

James Steele 11-17-2013 07:17 PM

I'm laughing uncontrollably at your pure wit and charm, The Rogerer.

Curd 11-18-2013 02:24 AM

The HHH hate is a conspiracy of vanilla midgets.

wwe lost match..

Triple H vs The Undertaker vs Gangrel vs Tajiri in a elimination spitting match

Tajiri's mist would not stand up against Gangrels blood, gangrel would be grossed out from undertakers tobbaco spit, undertaker would lose to triple h cause h2o is healthier than tobbaco.
