That in mind, seems you really wanted to say something about Will's face.

Actually, no, I've seen probably like 5 Arrow episodes and never seen animated Suicide Squad. And you make it sound like I have something against Will Smith, which I don't. Deadshot just seems to be getting the Stallone Dredd treatment (yes, I'm repeating myself) to me. Even if he doesn't always wear the maskin other media, I think, judging by the trailer at least, he's not wearing it enough here. And that actually makes sense because when you cast big names like Smith you probably want to show their mug as much as possible. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Batman's in it but he's pretty much a background character. He shows up a couple times to fuck with the Suicide Squad's mission and that's really about it. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't, man. It's not the best DC animated movie, but it's an awesome ride.

Kalyx triaD 07-12-2015 02:57 PM

Most superhero movies have most the actor's time out of the mask.

alvarado52 07-13-2015 03:04 AM

Yknow, in my head, I always saw Brittany Murphy playing the perfect Harley Quinn...alas, it will remain so only in my head.

McLegend 07-13-2015 05:24 PM

The trailer has been officially released due to the leaks, and seems to be getting "mad" positive reviews across the world.

We shall see if that holds up.

That Margot Robbie girl seems to be doing a helluva job, judging by the trailer.

The Destroyer 07-13-2015 05:53 PM

I kinda like the look of it.

Lock Jaw 07-13-2015 07:43 PM

I will reserve my judgement on this one.... Still not crazy about Joker's "look"....

Damian Rey 07-13-2015 08:03 PM

I could deal with the tats if they kept his face clean. But as always, not overly tied to any incarnation, and this looks like it could decent.

I will say, I love that this film looks nothing like BvS.

Sixx 07-13-2015 08:03 PM

Looks too "modern" or something. The tats, the "grill" or whatever that is in his mouth.

Hard to tell about his whole persona from the trailer, but the look is terrible imho.

That trailer literally did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. Instead of getting me hyped it literally caused my hype levels to retreat into the negatives. In fact it was so bad that it took away some of the hype I had for other movies that are coming up. Well, at least now I can officially wash my hands of any and all DC live action movies going forward. At least until the next inevitable reboot in 10 to 15 years...

I have to say it did absolutely nothing for me as well. They would have done better introuducing these characters in other movies or on TV first. i feel nothing for any of them

Damian Rey 07-13-2015 09:07 PM

Washing your hands? Hasn't even come out yet. I know and understand your hesitation, Wishbone. But I'd at least encourage you to wait for its critical reception.

Not interested in critical reception. Plenty of people liked Man of Steel and it was completely underwhelming in my eyes. I can already tell that I won't like this movie simply from the trailer.

The costumes are god awful to the point that I couldn't stand even looking at Joker. Oh, and that laugh... That lazy, lazy laugh... And what they've done to Harley... (shudders) I can't even begin to tell you how painful that was for one of the world's biggest Harley fans. She was basically all the bad things about New 52 Harley without any of the good.

And I know it's a small gripe but I'm not gonna hold back on it because you know what it matters. Harley has to have the accent. You take away the accent and you've failed, period. Even if they'd gotten everything else right that one detail would have killed it. I know it's petty of me, but I don't care. Fuck whoever decided not to do it. If Chaning Tatum can take lessons to get Gambit's thick Cajun accent right this chick can learn to do Harley's.

The few lines spoken here were also just... bad. It's possible they just chose the worst lines in the movie to display here, but if that's the case then whoever made the trailer needs to learn how to do trailers right because normally you choose good lines for a trailer to help lure people in. And if those were what pass for "good" lines in this movie then the script is likely going to be awful.

Anyway after seeing both of the DC trailers now I can wholeheartedly say that I am not only unimpressed, but I'm damn near offended honestly. I know mainstream media and fans are going to love this movie, and, hell, I'm not gonna blame them. People should enjoy what they want, and honestly as a DC fan (or maybe I should say former fan with the state of the movies and comics right now...) I want to like this. I just can't. I hate everything about it. In my honest opinion it looks like garbage of the highest (lowest?) caliber. In short, DC and Warner Brothers can suck a bag of dicks. Well, except their animation department and Bruce Tim... Those are good people for bringing us the Killing Joke animated movie.

Fignuts 07-13-2015 10:18 PM

You're right that the accent seems like such a minor thing for Harley, but I've heard the character use it in animated form for so long that even when I read comics I instinctivly read her dialogue with the accent. So to hear her without it does feel somewhat off.

And yeah, new 52 Harley sucks

As for the trailer, it doesn't really do anything for me either way. Not good, not bad. It is something that exists.

Wishbone 07-13-2015 10:19 PM

Given the "Rotten" tattoo next to her mouth I'm not sure I'd want to risk sticking my Wish"Boner" in there.

Wishbone 07-13-2015 10:19 PM

I apologize completely for that awful, awful pun I just made. I fully accept responsibility for any damages it may have caused.

I have that problem with the Joker and Batman in comics. Always read in Kevin Conroy's and Mark Hamill's voice's respectively without even meaning to.

Kalyx triaD 07-13-2015 10:53 PM

I'm still hoping foolishly that Harley retains her accent. It might be one of those things that just got subtle in translation. I don't think the 'druggie pixie dreamgirl' voice is bad or not fitting, it's just that Harley accent is one of those things I would have prioritized with the actress even before costume fitting.

10 minute time-out, young man.

Damian Rey 07-14-2015 09:13 AM

Man of Steel was actually not critically well received. Fans and the general audiences liked it, but from a critical standpoint it was not considered to be a strong film.

The accent gripe is 100% spot on. That's probably the only thing I took away from the trailer that bothered me. Like Kalyx mentioned, maybe it was lost in translation for the trailer.

The director is coming off the ensemble film "Fury", and also is credited for "End of Watch", both being well received. So I have hope. I do think Harley should have an accent, but it's not make or break for me. We shall see.

And don't apologize for that pun. Well time and well placed.

Rhinestonecowboy 07-15-2015 12:35 AM

I had my reservations about this movie, especially after the horrible 90's makeover joker pics were released, but after watching the trailer, I think I'll give the film a chance. Still not sold on the joker look, but I can let it slide if leto's performance is good.

Rammsteinmad 07-16-2015 05:10 AM

Going solely by that trailer, this film looks shit.

Fignuts 07-16-2015 06:50 PM

Everything is shit to you, though.

Wishbone 07-16-2015 07:44 PM

That may be, but I agree with him so >:P

Crimson 07-18-2015 01:10 AM

Don't see why Harley and Joker need facial tattoos. Joker looks like a tranny with the red lipstick.

Hope its a good movie though, Leto will do great I'm sure

Kalyx triaD 07-18-2015 05:08 AM

It would seem Harley simply draws on her face. Her face is clean in some shots.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-18-2015 11:35 AM

Margot Robbie aside, this looks shit.

But she'd make a KKK robe look good.

Sepholio 08-10-2015 09:08 AM

So Leto posted a picture of his shadow on the ground and he appears to be wearing a similar outfit to what Joker was wearing in the infamous death scene in The Killing Joke.

Obviously no one knows if it means anything, but the possibility of at least parts of The Killing Joke occurring within the framework of this movie has me a tad bit stiff in the nether regions.

What death scene in The Killing Joke?

Sepholio 08-10-2015 09:20 AM

not death scene, but shooting, my mistake.

Sixx 08-10-2015 09:24 AM

Ah.

Well, I saw said photo, but I don't think it means anything really. Leto is a tease, like that pic:

Pretty sweet trailer, actually....

Damian Rey 01-20-2016 12:14 AM

Have to say that it looks like it could a pretty fun movie. I didn't hear Harley's accent so I'm sure we'll hear bitching but overall it looks like it could be a blast.

Leto laughing in that tux tho.
