When I was a kid doing e-wrestling promos on AOL, my character "Extreme Legend" Bobby Brawler had a mental breakdown after losing his first match in the Main Event at a PPV against another guy. After the loss I decided to put him out for a few weeks and brought him back as Broken.

Broken was a really fucked up idea. I had him kidnap the girlfriend of another guy's character and, in a promo, he walks out of the bathroom with a bloody coathanger.

Is this Matt Hardy/Jeff Hardy thing anything like that?

I really like the idea of Aron Rex doing a modified version of the intellectual savior gimmick again. I don't know if I'd choose Tyrus as the bodyguard.... maybe Rob Terry (I heard he's wrestling again). Just because of that perceived British refinement.... I think he'd be a good compliment gimmick wise

It's easily the best thing in wrestling this year. The Broken Brilliance is astounding.

Pretty genius in my opinion. Jeff has always been my favorite Hardy but not any more. Single handedly got Impact it's biggest rating this year and got WWE to copy his Final Deletion match with the Wyatts so they had to see some genius in it. It may not be for you but it is the best Matt has been in years.

For the record, I do love the Broken Matt Hardy/Brother Nero stuff if only because I'm convinced the Hardyz wrote it themselves while on a cocaine binge.

I'll continue to only watch one-off TNA bits online though. I can't ever envision a scenario in which I sit through an entire Impact ever again.

I think it's both. I think Matt is genuinely funny in the role and I laughed out loud during the FINAL DELETION. It's corny but it's done with awareness. As opposed to when WWE tries comedy and it's corny but you can tell it's done with the intent of being brilliant. I've shown this to people without being embarrassed for wrestling. Can't do the same with WWE anymore.
