Since I have nothing better to do, I decided to look up a random southern state in a random late 80's/early 90's year.

They ran 19 shows in the state of Tennessee in 1989.

That's significant

Bad News Gertner 07-14-2017 01:02 AM

Had a bit more time so I did another one

They ran 32 shows in the state of Texas in 1991

Destor 07-14-2017 01:17 AM

Now run new york

Destor 07-14-2017 01:21 AM

They ran Ny 19 times in 89...by april

Destor 07-14-2017 01:22 AM

Data is nothing with out perspective

Bad News Gertner 07-14-2017 01:57 AM

Wasn't talking about New York. I was just responding to your post where you said they didn't run the South often at all.

Specifically said he ran them.

Bad News Gertner 07-14-2017 02:05 AM

Lol I totally took that as you ment ran "2-3" shows a year

Andre will hook them in to the show, but a guy like Chris Jericho will keep them coming back, and to me that is what matters. Jericho may not have been as big of a "draw" as Andre, but he was/is consistently more entertaining (in my opinion). Seeing Andre would then eventually run thin and you would be left with going to the show to see Jericho do his thing.

The end result is that you can't have Jericho without Andre but who could you replace Jericho with? You can get a pretty good list going I bet

Lock Jaw 07-14-2017 03:27 AM

And Jericho would be a better choice than 95% of that list (in my opinion)

Mr. Nerfect 07-14-2017 04:40 AM

It depends how high-end you made your list. Eddie, Angle, Benoit, Bret, Perfect, Flair, Austin, Rock, Hogan, Steamboat and Savage came to mind without stretching my thinking too much.

That's why I don't get the "Jericho is a Rushmore wrestler" argument. He's not even in the top of his class. And that's not meant as a knock -- he's an all-time great, but that's not the same as being #1 in a field, or even in the top four.

More like 2-3 tours. Theyd sweep through the state hitting the typical venues on their way to larger markets.

Black Widow 07-14-2017 01:52 PM

Jericho not even close Ha!

Destor 07-14-2017 02:12 PM

tied again...geez

I posted the entire Andre vs. Strong Kobayashi match a few bouts ago, but here is the Tombstone from it:

Yeah this one was easy for me. Jericho is the GOATNNKN (greatest of all time not named Kevin Nash). Sorry Andre.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-14-2017 05:54 PM

While I think Jericho himself would vote Andre, i think those voting Jericho just have a far stronger emotional connection with y2j.

Where Cena and Show lost for me is i have 0 connection with them. I respect both but show is a flop and most of Cenas run is corporately manufactured. He got over in hos own but when he was given the ball, he failed to emotionally connect with the older crowd in his intended role.

On an unrelated note that has no bearing, i loved gearing Bruno who hates everyone, put Jericho over HUGE on talk is jericho.

Admittedly yes, i grew up watching Jericho compete years before i saw anything of Andre's career.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-14-2017 06:57 PM

Id seen some Andre before i saw jericho but very limited. And yet connect more emotionally with Andre than i do cena or show both of whom i grew up watching. Well i stopped watching due to the cena era.

I think this is it. I don't want to sidetrack this into a conversation about the Cena era, but once we're able to look at it in retrospect, it's going to be interesting to see where it falls. Is it going to be considered a success or a failure? Cena's run is complicated. I'm not suggesting we discuss it here, but it's certainly intriguing.

Destor 07-14-2017 08:59 PM

Not like weve been on topic up until now

Mr. Nerfect 07-14-2017 09:19 PM

I dunno, discussing how shitty Jericho's talk shows were is kind of on point.

Destor 07-14-2017 09:21 PM

Haha

Lol ok, where did you get that from

Mr. Nerfect 07-15-2017 03:11 AM

He heard it from CyNick, so it must be reliable.

lol I like it when he has good guests, but he rarely has good guests. I'd be happy to never listen to Corey Taylor ever again, that dude seems like a fucking idiot.

#1-norm-fan 07-15-2017 09:29 AM

If I'm starting a company today, as great as he is, I could find another suitable Jericho and not suffer too much. Andre is irreplaceable.

Bad News Gertner 07-15-2017 09:38 AM

All the Wrestling podcasts on podcast one are terrible.

Edge and Christian have easily the best "wrestler" podcasts

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-15-2017 09:45 AM

I enjoy Killing the Town.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-15-2017 09:46 AM

E and C are the best tho

Bad News Gertner 07-15-2017 10:18 AM

Mooney and Duggan's is an easy listen, although Duggan repeats himself alot. J.J Dillon's and Tony Schi one's are pretty good too.

Bruce Prichard's is the worst wrestling podcast around

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-15-2017 10:19 AM

Prichard is just clearly such a fucking liar/carney

Bad News Gertner 07-15-2017 10:22 AM

And the constant impressions. I try and listen because some of the topics are interesting, but I end up turning it off after 10 minutes. Conrad is a fucking abortion too.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-15-2017 10:27 AM

Conrad is the ultra mark, and he acts like he presses Bruce, but he really doesn't. I do like Prichard's Vince impression, but it ends there.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-15-2017 10:34 AM

My problem with Conrad is he desperately wants to be "One of the boys", and I've been led to believe he gets to hang out with them because he pays them to be his friends.

He's just a fat mark, who happens to have money so he's not dwelling in a basement.

Bad News Gertner 07-15-2017 10:49 AM

Prichard does an amazing Dusty Rhodes

Destor 07-15-2017 01:36 PM

With a day to go this match could go either way

This. The topics are very interesting, but you can tell the dude is working. He gets quite a lot of stuff wrong too. Like, not in terms of his story versus the online one, just in terms of things historically.
