So you see the problem here? It's expensive, and not as common for gaming as it's made out to be.

Not really. If it isn't comfortable to play then that is definitely a negative.

Because it will be impossible to find a controller that is comfortable to play.

Gonzo 04-27-2005 03:59 PM

I didn't say that but you have your gripes I'm sure so I'll have mine.

UmbrellaCorporation 04-27-2005 04:24 PM

As far as I'm concerned, the Nintendo 64 had one of the worst controllers ever, but it had some of the BEST games ever (No Mercy and Conker's Bad Fur Day).

I never could figure out the proper way to hold that damned thing! Were you supposed to grab the control stick by grabbing the middle part or what? I just always stretched my thumb over from the left side to the control stick.

I don't really have my gripes.

Especially sice I'm not the one crying about how horribly I'll be affected by a bad controller.

Oh, and nic cards are so cheap these days I think they're going to start giving them away in happy meals. It wouldn't be that much extra on top of the wireless.

DS 04-27-2005 05:39 PM

Again, in order to take use of them, someone would have to have a wireless router. The cards only recieve data, they don't send. So if they don't have a router, it's completely useless. Also, not all cards will work with all routers.

That would tag on another $20 at least on the price and that is if the card worked with all routers.

And cards that are more compatible (That is, compatible with a wider array of products) are more expensive and still not universal.

That's not true at all, you are thinking too much in terms of simply using pc equipment. It would be entirely possible to have wireless system links that don't require a wireless router at all. Handheld games are doing it quite well. Granted the bigger consoles would have to send more data than a handheld, but I don't think its too far fetched.

You guys are acting like I said it was fact or something, hell I didn't even say it was probable. I merely said it would be pretty sweet, if you'd like to argue that point then by all means go ahead. Now that I think of it, it would be pretty damn cool if the Xbox 360 could make me a sandwich too, but I don't expect to see it either.

When it comes to price I don't think 20 bucks is an issue here. There have been talks of the system (fully loaded) costing up to $500. If I'm paying that much for a system is 20 bucks going to make a difference? Nope. I can't see anybody saying "I would pay 500 for a xbox, but its just way over priced at 520."

JEsus fucking Christ.

No, we're not making it out as though you said it was fact, we're making it out as though WE said it was fucking unfeasible.

God Damn it. Why can't people on the net read simplistic fucking English? Does your brain have a PSP's battery life or something?

Okay, ignoring your retardation for one split second, let's pretend that all they do is create a wifi link like a DS or PSP has. You'd need something that didn't interfere with a wifi router. You'd need to apply a second set of connections: One for the regular connections, one piece of hardware dedicated to a link. Now it would have to be more powerful than a DS/PSP connection is, not interfere with other products, and be built into a reasonably sized unit. Not only improbable, but impractical and still stupid, and would be more than another fucking 20 dollars. I know, when you pop a tiny price tag on it, it seems so reasonable, but you have to factor in time and effort to make an inobtrusive link-up with limited appeal, strong functionality, and unlikely to cause issues.

The DS and PSP both accomplish this by proprietary software which is limited in scope. And since game linking is such a common feature on portables, it's more desirable.

Now take that, jump your ass back on the short bus, and fuck off.

AareDub 05-02-2005 12:37 PM

Aww, KK got upset with me. That's cute. Chill out, I still love you :P

I still stand by my original argument that wireless linking or wireless lan capability would be pretty damn sweet..... now if they could only work on that sandwich thing.

DS 05-03-2005 09:34 PM

Gates says the next Xbox will ship this year.

DS 05-07-2005 12:18 AM

Here's some more preview of the next-gen graphics. These are from the creators of Max Payne.

OMFG

Tornado 05-07-2005 04:27 AM

I think I just wet my pants...

DS 05-07-2005 10:46 AM

Here is the X360 controller.
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen002.jpg

Although there is a wire, sources said the final product would only need a wire for charging. These aren't actual Microsoft words but it's apparently a pretty reliable source, enough of one for Gamespot to call it true.

Ninti the Mad 05-07-2005 11:13 AM

I wonder if htose pictures are in-game or not.

Also, Half Life 2 looks almost as good.

bigdaddysuperfreak 05-07-2005 12:54 PM

That controller look like crap

Ninti the Mad 05-08-2005 11:35 AM

Well, seems like Elijah Wood is the host. wtf?

And the Killers are going to perform.

Ninti the Mad 05-08-2005 11:36 AM

Make that controller a matte black and it'll be fine.

FearedSanctity 05-08-2005 02:12 PM

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...7751772606.jpg

It's still ugly looking. And huge

Tornado 05-08-2005 02:23 PM

Good God. Thats Hideous.

M. Banana 05-08-2005 03:33 PM

Why did you post a picture of a DVD player?

Team Sheep 05-08-2005 05:22 PM

Who cares about what it looks like. I think the PS2 looks like a pile of crap but the graphics are awesome. For it's time anyway.

DS 05-08-2005 06:18 PM

I like the look. Finally something other then black.

Yeah, I don't get all this pissing and moaning about how it looks. Fucking retarded.

UmbrellaCorporation 05-08-2005 09:19 PM

I'll probably be flamed to hell and back for this, but I like the way it looks.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Xbox. A lot. But this one looks better to me, and maybe it'll stand a chance of not breaking a small child's back when you drop one onto him/her.

Bad Company 05-08-2005 09:29 PM

Video game shots are pointless, they were showing screen caps of that quality years ago.

Yeah, pre-rendered though. Real time is a whole different ball game.

AareDub 05-08-2005 11:21 PM

System is decent looking, but the controller looks unusable. I'll have to go 3rd party (as much as I hate that) for this system. I can't stand when a d-pad is one huge button.

I still don't know if this is "real time" rendering though... It looks amazing, so amazing that it's almost too good to be true :D

I can't believe a guy who was crying about being called a NAzi on a message board is trying to make that argument.

Eh, that's exactly what I DON'T like about the PS2 controller. When you're playing something with a weird control system like RE, you hope and pray that it's an analog stick game (or at least I do). The segmented buttons make it annoying as hell for me.

I was totally pissed when I got Halo 2 and found out that the D-pad didn't move Master Chief on there. I always used the D-pad in the first Halo.

Ninti the Mad 05-09-2005 01:40 PM

Yeah, because Nazis and video games fall in one category.

Idiot.

DS 05-12-2005 09:53 PM

If any of you missed it, don't worry. There wasn't much to see as most of it had already been leaked but there was some game footage that was pretty nice.

el fregadero 05-13-2005 12:20 AM

I caught the very end where they had Mr. Hahn and some other celebs playing some game. Didn't impress me.

Engadget is showing the video that was released on Ourcolony.net. It shows off some pretty cool features etc, it's basically what I was hoping the MTV thing would be. If you guys were disappointed with the MTV thing you should check this one out.
