On DS9 they had an episode where they went back in time to the tribble episode on the original. They just edited the characters on to the old show. And at one point, in the mess hall, Jullian asked Warf where the klingons were. Warf points over and Jullian asked what happened. Warf said simply, "We don't discuss that with outsiders."

Enterprise looked higher tech than the original, who cares?
