I dunno, it may not have been super-over, but people seemed to get behind it

1 BEER!

Headcheese where pretty over. Al Snow is surprisingly over. Steve Blackman, for a guy with a blandish personality (I would not call the guy boring, he obviously had a good sense of humour considering the things he milked, he was just a straight man) got over heaps.

Way to kill it Carl.

WHAT?

Just change your 2 beers to...

2 beers, <---- and it's fixed.

NeanderCarl 04-07-2007 09:12 PM

Definitely have to agree with whoever said "DAMN!", Head Cheese, Vito in a dress and Eugene...

I'm not surprised, per se, that "what?" got over.. it was entertaining. I just can't believe the EXTENT that it got over to, where people were chanting "what?" in segments and interviews that had nothing to do with Austin, and randomly Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon managed to become synonymous with "what?" even when they had no on-screen association with Austin whatsoever. Nowadays, it seems restricted to Austin once again, but the fact is that six years later, it is still over. That is amazing.

Trust me, we won't be hearing "DAMN!" in six years.

Wooing with chops is pretty amazing in the extent it got.

Also, the "TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" thing every time there's a two count. I believe that started in Montreal, possibly the PPV where Sylvan reffed the main event (Hogan/Rock?)...

311 04-07-2007 09:16 PM

The Wooing is an amazing testament to Flair in my opinion.

NeanderCarl 04-07-2007 09:17 PM

Oh yeah... and also the crowd shouting "YOU!" whenever Hogan does the finger point. Where did that come from??

And speaking of the "YOOOU" thing, am I the only one bothered when the fans count when Hogan does his punches? Or when Michaels is setting up Sweet Chin Music? I miss the clapping/stomping with Michaels and the "HOO! HOO! HOO!" with the Hogan punches.

When the fuck did WWE become Sesame Street?

ddpBANG 04-07-2007 10:04 PM

^ I was just thinking about that, Xero. When and why the fuck did the fans start counting when HBK's "tuning up the band"?

The One 04-07-2007 11:46 PM

WHAT?

El Fangel 04-08-2007 12:11 AM

Oh and when doing turnbuckle punches, fans ALWAYS count. Although when in the southern states im pretty sure its piped in. I mean once the guy gets hit more then 10 times you can tell the crowd has stopped counting.

That's because they've run out of fingers.

Xerzes 04-08-2007 01:52 AM

The Ultimate Warrior.

I think a few would have run out before then.

Evolution 04-08-2007 01:35 PM

Turnbuckle punches in Spanish. Seriously. Is it Super Crazy who does it? My mind's drawing a blank.

Yeah, why DO they count when HBK's tuning up the band? It's not like he has a certain number he always gets to, unlike Hulk who always uses 3 punches.

I don't know, I'm used to them counting that.

I like when someone goes really fast and fucks up the fans. Foley used to do the 3 turnbuckle smashes really fast and it was funny hearing the fans try to keep up.

Chavo Classic 04-08-2007 03:42 PM

Ladder matches. Seriously, who the hell thought of that idea???

A non-wrestling-fan friend of mine saw his first ladder match a few weeks ago and commented that it was the stupidiest fucking thing he'd ever saw. I didn't bother trying to explain Ultimate X

Chavo Classic 04-08-2007 03:42 PM

....actually Ultimate X isnt a bad inclusion either.

Xero 04-08-2007 03:43 PM

At least Ladder Matches make sense. _____ on a Pole matches are just retarded.

McLegend 04-08-2007 03:45 PM

Have pole matches ever really gotten over though?

Xero 04-08-2007 03:47 PM

I'd say they were pretty big up until the Ladder match really took off (say 98-99).

The One 04-08-2007 03:47 PM

WHAT?

Anybody Thrilla 04-08-2007 03:49 PM

The best pole match was Trish Stratus vs. Terri Runnels in a Paddle on a Pole match.

Chavo Classic 04-08-2007 03:49 PM

Ladder matches make sense? Have you thought about it subjectively? There's a belt hanging from the ceiling and the only way to get to it is to use a ladder. I think 'Climbing for Dollars' from the Running Man makes more sense.

Xero 04-08-2007 03:53 PM

How does having to climb up a ladder to reach something NOT make sense? It's a challenge after being beaten up for 15-20 minutes.

Sure, some of the logistics, like taking 10x as long to climb it as anyone else doesn't make much sense, but if you don't get the overall challenge in climbing a ladder after getting your ass kicked you're pretty stupid.

If anything, it makes just as much sense as using a chair as a weapon.

Xero 04-08-2007 03:53 PM

... In fact, what is up with that?

Anybody Thrilla 04-08-2007 03:53 PM

Well, I mean, how else would you get it without a ladder? Trampoline?

Xero 04-08-2007 03:55 PM

Or, as Vince McMahon (I believe) put it at WrestleMania X, you'd need to be Andre the Giant with a Jet Pack to reach the title.
