What a fucking joke.
Pretty sure I'm never going to play that again.
lol why's that?
The aiming is slow, and I usually like low sensitivity on my aim. Problem is, these... things aren't gonna wait for you to line a shot. Me and my bro were running around like chickens constantly running out of ammo while the smart fuckers were flanking us to high hell. And this is one of the earlier areas?
Well it's a good challenge.
Good challenge? You're set up for failure from the beginning.
wimp
I have found it tedious so far.
Left 4 dead is a phenomenal zombie game and that's what i have been playing a lot of. In comparison resi5 demo sucks. It looks amazing no doubt, but i'm not convinced by the gameplay in the demo...not by a long way. |
Sgand and I played through it yesterday and it is terrible. I didn't get through the 2nd level because I had to leave so I might run through it again but I dunno.
The aiming is slow. I get that. I understand that. It's a slower game. Fine. You could even say it's trying to be more tactical. Sure. But it is still balls. I'm not saying slow is bad, but THIS slow is. Haven't all RE games had a slow pace anyway? So it's slower. I can get over that. As I play though the level a little more I get to a cutscene and then zombies come after. Fine. I shoot a few zombies. Reload. What have you. Nothing out of the normal. Then suddenly I'm out of ammo. WTF? I ask sgand "Hey you have any ammo?" and no, he's out too. So now we switch to our secondary weapons and blow away a few more. We are scrounging for ammo the entire time but get nothing but herbs and gold and all that. Then the big boss with the ax breaks down the gate. It didn't occur to us to run past him so we unload shotgun/sniper rounds into him and he ends up pounding us to death. So we reach that point again, and decide to run past him, saving as much ammo as we can. We have to wait for backup to come. Fine. We sprint to the other end of the gate, turn around, and who's behind us? The entire horde and the big slow ax wielding boss. He couldn't get to the fucking gate to break it down for a good 5 mins but now he's going to be on my ass the entire time? Whatever. I try to headshot some zombies because I'm low on ammo and guess what? It takes 3 shots to the head to bring them down. It also takes 3 shots to the body to take them down. And how many shots do they start me out with? Like 10? How am I supposed to get ahead? I saw some explosive barrels and shot them but it didn't stop the bleeding. So what do we do now? We're out of ammo, we can't move while knifing(god forbid), and we got angry ass African zombies on our tail the entire time. So our stratagy was to run. That's all. Just run around the entire fucking map. And guess what, it worked. We survived! And then the demo ends. That was it. That was the level. You get to a cut scene, wait for the boss with the ax to break the gate, and then run around for 10 mins. That's what capcom wanted us to experience. God it's bad. Just really bad. And then going into inventory is a bitch too. I even practiced that the on 2nd runthrough before we did anything and I still fucked it up. I will say the graphics are great though. As is the sound. Other than that... |
This is sad news. Never a huge RE fan but they are fun games and 4 was quite good. Ah well.
I played it, I actually really - really enjoyed it. It's hard as all hell, but I love it.
How can you love it?....you're like one of those women who fall in love with serial killers on death row...you FREAK!
I'll say it was a little too action pack for my RE taste. Still looking forward to the whole game.

Dude, it's nothing like Rainbow 6. :wtf:
It's incredibly teamwork oriented, relies on tons of conversation between you and who-ever you're co-oping with. Well placed shots mean more than spraying bullets, there is a huge focus on ammo conservation and the it's a slower pace. That all is Rainbow 6. The inventory system is reminiscent of the the early Rainbow games on top of it all.
Obviously it's not identical, but there are more comparison to be drawn between the two of those then other shooters. |

You guys do know it's still a work in progress don't you? I won't judge until I've at least rented the complete game first.
Oh, I thought I downloaded the whole game?
Then they have a loooong way to go. They must be redicoulusly behind sscheduale
The only part of the demo that I really didnt enjoy was the fact you had to shoot most of the enemies multiple times even in the head to take them down...
my most pissed moment was when there is a enemy like an inch in front of me...I shoot him in the face with my handgun and he just steps back a little in pain, fast forward to when you are playing the level and hop to the top of the building with Sheva, I am at the guy throwing molotovs as far away as he can be and one shot in the face takes him down. I really didnt mind the whole low ammo thing because it made the game more interested. The first time I played the demo I was low on ammo all the time but my room mate and I have been playing it through multiple times and we now have a shitload of ammo come the end of the demo. The demo has its problems but hopefully these problems have been fixed by the time we get it. If not I still found the demo interesting enough to play the full game when its released. |
Im sticking to the hope that the finished product is worth the trouble as a whole.
Even if it falls short of part 4, it'll still be one of the better games this year. capcom could half-ass and turn out a decent game.
Yeah it brings the survival to whole new level in "Survival Horror".
Seriously this shit is hard. Partially due to the controls, but mostly due to... well yeah it's the controls!
Do we need a Run Button anymore? |
Meh, I like L4D okay (fact nonwithstanding that it looks and feels cheap) but this will be my pick for the zombie game of the year, I think.
It is definitely a lot harder than RE4, and the controls are a bit more frustrating, but I think I'll come to terms with it in time. |
They aren't zombies, UC
Downloaded the demo, never played an RE game before.
After playing the demo, I am going to continue the above trend. Game sucked shit. Controls are sluggish, and generally require two buttons, stopping to reload does not equal horror elements or strategy. If this is how all Resident Evils have played, I hope the sales of this game are as bad as the game itself. Thank God Dead Rising 2 just got announced. |
Yeah I think I'm done with RE, unless they seriously revamp the next one. And I was a huge fan up to 4.

As for this one, I don't understand the hate for it. Sure, the controls are sluggish, but to me, 4 felt pretty bad in that aspect too. RE has never been known for its control scheme, especially back in the earlier days (to move any direction, press up? what). I hope it gets better reactions when it comes out, but I'm loving the demo. Played it through several times already. |

That's the problem. They were great years ago, but so much better shit has come out since. |
I just got through playing the RE5 demo properly. I checked options and increased the speed of aiming to fastest and it made aiming decent. Ammo is everywhere, believe it or not and you just have to look for it. At no point in the demo did I run out of ammo even though Sheva did constantly, even when I split my ammo with her. Check drawers, other shacks etc and you should find plenty of handgun ammo. There is even a machine gun in a brief case somewhere in the first level which makes things a little easier. Not being able to shoot or reload while moving is a bit stupid and it cost me in the second level. The chainsaw boss at the end of level 2 really shows the fault in the "no walking while shooting" thing. Having a fast, one-hit-kills boss in a narrow alleyway that I can't avoid and shoot doesn't work. Overall, While it's a bit harder than usual RE games it's not as great as I thought it would be and I'm not talking about the typical fanboy thoughts of a game being flawlessly orgasmic. I expected it to equal RE4 and I think it's fallen short but with it only being a demo, I can't really say that. It's not at all scary based on the demo. I think the chainsaw boss would have been freaky if I hadn't gotten used to Dr Salvador in RE4.
Hopefully, in later levels, the game really picks up. I wont be buying it on release now and I wont be getting the LE. Once I'm done with whatever games I get between now and RE5 coming down in price, I'll buy it. |
I've yet to complete the demo, played very little with my bro. I'll finish it later.
Yeah renting it first for sure. My only "must buy" is GH Metallica now.
Played both levels of this last night with a friend and seriously had no problems at all with the aiming or controls. It was fairly hard at places but nothing that bad. "Mr Chainsaw" and "Mr. Giant - and I mean holy fuck that is a giant axe" ate a shitload of ammo though.

Dunno, hardcore RE fans complained that ammo was too abundant in 4. So maybe they're going back to the way it was in the first 3? Which might be a good thing, because as awesome as 4 was as an action game, by giving you the arsenal and ammo of a small nation, you kind of lost that nervousness and trepidation you got from pulling out a firearm.
But yeah, if they are going to do that, fine, but one shot to the head should kill. |
Quote:
I agree with the ammo thing as well, having to conserve ammo certainly increases the sense of nervousness in the game. Although with me because I'm so jumpy the idea of a giant centipede or spider jumping out of an enemies head massively increased the sense of nervousness for me anyway. |
Anything jumping out of anyone's head makes me nervous regardless.
Mother fuckers need to respect the head shot:mad:
