Dude it's going to blow your mind. It's more than just a great game, because it plays like a movie and the way you interact with the ghostbusters is unique.

As a ghostbusters fan I can't get over how great this was. Just played through the entire thing with my friend and we were riveted.
The story is awesome, the dialouge is awesome and the characters are in full form.
The game itself plays amazingly and has such cool gameplay. The weapons, style of busting, and the upgrades are great.
I particularly liked the PKE reader and the act of actually hunting ghosts and investigating, rather than just shoot em up. But don't worry, on top of the detective work theres plenty of shootin tex.

The design of the levels is so creative. The different locations and concepts are fantastic, and I loved the gimmicks the ghosts had.

Just a really enthralling game. I loved how it added to, and further explored the Ghostbusters mythology too. There are so many connections and references to the other movies, it's great.

And last by not least, all of the in-jokes and homages to the franchise are amazing. Hopefully any fan plays this on Xbox, because the achievments are hilarious. The names are all based on classic lines from the film.

Easily the most fun I've ever had watching somebody else play a game, and hopping in there was great too.

If you have both consoles, looks like the debs slightly borked the PS3 version

About £36 shipped.

Also it is pretty exciting being a Ghostbuster, pretty fucking hard in parts too.

Nice, how long does it take to get here and is there any extra costs at all?

#BROKEN Hasney 06-17-2009 07:12 AM

About a week or two normally. The only extra cost you'd have is if it gets held up in customs and then you'll have to pay import tax, but I've ordered at least 30 games from hem and never been hit with that.

Disturbed316 06-17-2009 08:40 AM

Hmm knowing my luck I would but for £36 it will probably be cheaper than when it eventually comes out over here.

Danny Electric 06-17-2009 09:08 AM

Probably only save about 4 quid though.
I'm lucky that I get 10% off at Game because I work next to their concession in Selfridges.

Xero 06-17-2009 11:45 AM

From what I've played of it (up to the library) it is the single best game I have played in a long time. I GOT TO FIGHT THE FUCKING STAY-PUFT MARSHMALLOW MAN! That is like a dream come true.

The flaws are GREATLY outweighed by the detail, story and overall fun gameplay of ghost wrangling. 10/10 from me.

One gripe follows, though (very minor spoiler, about one of the details in the fire station).

SPOILER: show
The Vigo painting still exists and talks to you (suggesting it's the original). At the end of Ghostbusters 2 the painting was destroyed to reveal the other painting of the Ghostbusters and Oscar under it.

I'm such a nerd...

True, but he'll also get it a whole 4 months earlier

I know. I could sit here and tell people at least 30 things wrong with the game, but you just play it and get lost in it. Pure awesome.

Shadow 06-17-2009 01:54 PM

Been playing the Wii version...it's like you're apart of the god damn cartoon! IT'S SO MUCH FUN!

Gerard 06-17-2009 03:09 PM

Cocksuckers cut multi out of the pc version entirely, id love to hear the rationale behind the best online gaming platform by far geting fucked out of a multiplayer component. Pc and online? thats clearly madness and will never work. :wtf:

They pretty much sealed their fate with regards to sales by doing this, i for one won't be buying it when it comes out here in november or whatever retarded date sony fucked 360 and pc owners with. Bound to be cracked for pc in a day or two so that'll do me. :foc:

maybe they returned it to it's original form during some kind of experiment?
Lol, I know that's lame but whatever. I think they just wanted to give some tips of the hat to GB2 here and there, since it primarily focused on elements from the first film.

There are plenty of GB2 references and connections though. Loved
SPOILER: show
the dancing toaster
This game is great, and successful. If and when they make a sequel, I'd like to see them incorporate a bit more of that.
There's very little they skipped over though.

Some things I'd like to see that didn't make the game...
SPOILER: show

-The Scoleri Brothers. Nothing big, but they're great ghosts that could be a fun enemy, or even get an interesting backstory. I wouldn't be suprised if fighting them in a courtroom bonus level is downloadable or something though.

-Same with the Gozer confrontation from the first film. I was suprised Terror Dogs didn't show up somewhere. Like the coutroom, it could be a bonus side mission for download.

- Something where you get to drive the Ecto 1, or man a turret on the back of it.

- Stay Puft mode. One mission or mini game where you can control Stay Puft and destroy the city and complete some objective.

- Maybe something regarding the statue of Liberty. I think it'd be great if you, the ghostbusters, had to bring the statue back to life again and have a Godzilla-style fight with Stay Puft.

That's really just a wishlist though. The game was more fun, had a better story, and included more elements from the films than I had even hoped.

A few connections I marked out for...
SPOILER: show

-Saying Evo Shandor and his people did experiments to get the pink slime from the black slime, and then put it in the sewers. Vigo obviously then used it to power himself, but I always wondered how it got there, and what the origin was. Very cool to connect the two movies like that.

-A Slor!

-"The 12th floor has a history of disturbance"

I can do semi decent at times, but Ray always dies, or when I fall he dies trying to come save me. I know I'm close to beating it just can't get there. Would be a lot easier if didn't waste my money on the two proton pack upgrades.

Died a couple of times on that but I just stayed close to him and used my photon blast or whatever it's called and got past it.

Ghostbusters on PS3 lags behind 360 version; developer explains

by Christopher Grant { 2 minutes ago } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...station001.png

Richard Leadbetter – Director of HD consultancy Digital Foundry and author of Eurogamer's multiplatform comparison Face-off features – tweeted that playing Ghostbusters on the PS3 was like "time-warping back to the dawn of PS3 development." Ouch! That's especially painful to read considering the high hopes Terminal Reality – developers of the just-released Ghostbusters game – have for their multiplatform Infernal Engine.

Internet reports of a less-than-stellar PS3 version of the title originated at Lens of Truth on Monday, were later corroborated by Gamezine.co.uk and, following tomorrow's publication of Leadbetter's most recent Face-off feature, will be further corroborated by Eurogamer. Confusing the issue even further is the following quote from Terminal Reality's Mark Randel, who told VG247 last year, "We're one of the few developers who love the PS3 and have a great time with it. We have great technology for the PS3 and we want to show it off."

Instead of leaving it up to internet Matlocks, we asked Terminal Reality to comment on the controversy. A spokesperson for the developer told us, "For the record, the PS3 version [of Ghostbusters] is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version. So you cannot directly compare a screen shot of one to the other unless you scale them properly. The PS3 does have less available RAM than the 360 – but we managed to squeeze 3 out of 4 textures as full size on the PS3."

So: is the PS3 "maxed out"? Or is Terminal Reality's engine – despite comments to the contrary – just not up to snuff on the PS3? With most recent multiplatform titles performing comparably, if not identically, on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, we'd be inclined to agree with Mr. Leadbetter: it's like "time-warping back to the dawn of PS3 development" when PS3 games were routinely outperformed by their Xbox 360 counterparts. Let's hope the irony of the situation is lost on Ghostbusters' exclusive European publisher ... Sony. As well as the franchise's owner ... Sony Pictures.

RoXer 06-17-2009 05:25 PM

oops

#BROKEN Hasney 06-17-2009 05:28 PM

It's more noticible on Ghostbusters but it happens all the time. The 360 has quite a few strengths over the PS3, but the PS3 is more powerful overall. Because they 360 is the more popular console right now, devs tend to make the game for the 360s strengths and then port it to the PS3.

A notable exception is Burnout Paradise, which does look better on PS3.

D Mac 06-17-2009 05:45 PM

PS3 version looks fine to me.

Jeritron 06-17-2009 06:23 PM

Yea, but you don't have acheivments. They're a blast and hilarious

D Mac 06-17-2009 08:47 PM

PS3 has "trophies". Their version of achievements.

G 06-17-2009 08:49 PM

Dr. Pepper and Dr. Thunder, Diesel Mac.

Kapoutman 06-17-2009 10:53 PM

I just battled the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This game is just amazing. The dialogues are great, Peter is his usual hilarious self, Egon is a nerdy as ever, it's just great. I don't think I've ever anybody repeat a line in the entire time I have played.

Just one question: How do I upgrade weapons? I have just blasted through the game up to after the Stay Puft battle without returning to the Firehouse. Is there a special place in the firehouse to upgrade the equipment?

PapaGeorgio 06-17-2009 11:11 PM

You can upgrade any time, just pause and there will be a tab for upgrades.

I'm doing pretty good on Pro now. Got past one spot I was stuck at. Was really close last night a lot of times apparently. Beat the next level too, then called it a night. Only complaint is the A.I. at times. The characters don't know how to step back and shoot, they always got to be right on top of the monsters, and then they get incapped. IE the boss of the library level. But once I started using the portals in the room, things got easier.

UmbrellaCorporation 06-17-2009 11:44 PM

LMAO @ the *SPOILERS* Vigo painting

It says different things, some of which I found quite hilarious:

"I have seen the ultimate evil...but the glove doesn't fit!"

And:

"You will elect a greater evil than me...TWICE!"

This game is great. And torching stay puft was my wet dream.

Gray 06-18-2009 04:42 AM

On that website DVDBoxOffice above, it says the format is in NTSC. I thought the Ghostbusters games on the platforms where all region free?

I suspect its only a typo from the website, but thats going to be a right kicker if infact it is region locked to America.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-18-2009 04:47 AM

NTSC is a video format, not a region. The game is region free.

G 06-18-2009 10:44 AM

There is no co-op?????????

Disturbed316 06-18-2009 12:13 PM

The inner Ghostbusters mark has got the better of me and I've just ordered it. Now just you watch it get held up at customs

Not in the sense of Player 2 jumping in as one of the other Ghostbusters to play through the main storyline, no.

Gerard 06-19-2009 05:25 PM

These stone angel cunts are seriously pissing me off, this is one of these games where theres barely a difficulty curve, it just spikes up at unexpected places. :foc:

Also check this old concept for the cartoon.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wEPwBPdtU9U&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wEPwBPdtU9U&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Jeritron 06-19-2009 06:00 PM

Seems more or less the same as how the cartoon actually turned out. The only difference is the costumes being the same color, and based on the movie. That's cool, but I guess they wanted to switch them up for the purposes of a colorful cartoon.
I would probably have preferred they were the same color, like in the movies. That always kind of irked me, even as a kid. Not as much as Egon's blonde hair, and Ray and Venkman looking like vice versa.

I still liked that they explained the new colors though, and dedicated an episode to how it happened, and how the series bridged with the first movie. Probably the best episode.

G 06-19-2009 07:22 PM

OMGGGGGGGGG SO EXCITED

I have enough money to go buy this tomorrow. I hope they still have it w/the $20 gc. :(

G 06-20-2009 11:55 AM

JUST GOT ITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

can't play it till tonight tho :(

PapaGeorgio 06-20-2009 12:04 PM

We will have to play online sometime soon. See who the ultimate ghostbuster is. Wearing my GameStop t-shirt right now.

G 06-21-2009 11:27 PM

This game is just absolutely incredible. :(

Just arrived to the island. Will finish by tomorrow.

G 06-22-2009 04:28 PM

I really love this game. I have all but 2 of the single player achievements. Beat it on pro, and under 100k in damage. I'll do another run to get the 100k, but I'm having big doubts with beating it on pro, because of those stupid stone angel things at the cemetery. :(

I'm going to give online a go in a bit.

Lately though, developers are leading on the PS3 and then porting to the 360, because it means less trouble at the end. It's easier to upscale a game developed on the PS3 to benefit the 360 than it is to downgrade a 360 game when porting to the PS3.

I've started it on Pro and going for the shit ton damage one. The only trouble I've had thus far is during Stay Puff level where you are with ray and you go into the building, up the elevator. Then you have to destroy all those little shits, and Ray is obviously no help. Was stuck there for an hour, but next day beat it easily. Otherwise, the library boss was a bit of a challenge. But if you use the portals to move around the level it ain't that bad. Not much farther than that. was playing the museum then it froze and never went back yet. But overall starting with pro wasn't much of a challenge, though by sounds of it not looking forward to stone angels.

Jeritron 06-22-2009 07:50 PM

Can't believe I got to see/fight a SLOR!
