44% rotten rating at Rotten Tomatoes. :(
|
It got shitty reviews because the critics treated it like any other movie. You can't do that with this.
|
Stallone even said it, and it's true. This movie is a tribute to 80's action movies and is really only for action fans. Fuck plot and everything. That being said.....I'm still in awe of seeing it and I went into a state of shock like 8 or 9 times throughout.

the aoutomatic machine gun shot gun was pretty sweet
|
I know. Just when I thought the movie couldn't be any better and the Expendables seem out numbered, in comes Terry Crews with his BFG and I nearly fainted once again....
|
Gonna go watch the shit out of this on Wednesday.
|
Tell you what, that very first kill in the movie really sets the tone for what's to come.
|
Took the wife along with my dad and stepmom to see it...
Fucking loved it.... There was a little dragging in the first 20 minutes but after that its a nonstop action ride... Only thing that kinda took away from the movie for me was the bad CGI in some scenes...but all the awesome action sequences make up for it. |
^Yep
Loved that they gave Statham a Transporterlike fight on the basketball court. |

Great movie. Don't know what's with all the critical hate. Especially loved the scene with Arnold and Stallone and the other dude in the church..."What's that guy's deal?"
"He wants to be president." Fucking priceless. |

I was actually expecting the movie to be Stallone with everyone else carrying the background...I really wasnt expecting Statham to actually be a main focus other than Stallone...Great role for him... All the stars were great...Couture seemed to me as the only person who didnt really fit in. |
So who plays who?
I mean, who plays good guys, who plays bad guys? Heard Stone Cold is a villain and I'd guess Mcikey Rourke, too? |
Stone Cold is bad, Rourke is good.
|
Dolph Lundgren
SPOILER: show |
so..they're gonna do a sequel
Maybe they'll get Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and JCVD |
I'm going to get flak for this but, not only is Chuck Norris too old for this but, he's way too Christian to do it.
|
Chuck Norris is 68. Stallone is (NINTENDOOOO) 64. Van Damme is 50. Useless information.
|
Was it me or did any one else think Lundgren was like his Universal Soldier character...
And as far as who should be in the next one...I was kinda hoping that during the big 3 scene maybe Arnold would have said something to Stallone about the mission saying that maybe if things go right that he will tag along next time.... But as for the ones already mentioned...JCVD would be good granted he turned down this one. Norris would be good for a cameo but he is kinda to far out for anything else. Seagal may be a choice for a bad guy. |
I haev a feeling the next one will be Stallone's Expendables going against Schwarzenegger's (Sp?) group trying to do the same mission.

I really think the team up or rival with Team Arnold thing would make it a sequel worth doing. It would be far better.
I don't think it's out of the question since this is making money and will have a sequel, and Arnold is supposed to be returning to acting at the end of the year. Hopefully they could get JCVD and some other nice choices for Team Arnold. Bruce Willis' character as the main villain would be badass, or maybe Kurt Russel |
Jean-Claude Van Damme Refused to Lose to Jet Li in The Expendables
17 August 2010 5:29 PM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news » Jean-Claude Van Damme claims that he didn't want to take part in Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables," because Stallone refused to give him story details. But according to Stallone, that wasn't the case. "I wanted to set Jean-Claude against Jet Li, but he didn't want to lose to Jet," Stallone told The Sunday Times. "He didn't think that was cool. But that's why it would be cool; to have Jean-Claude beaten by the other man. Hey, they could have a rematch. But Steven Seagal and Van Damme, they weren't really into our gallows humor." During a premiere for the movie, Stallone said that he and Van Damme recent spoke and Van Damme regrets not accepting Stallone's offer to be in the movie. The two are now figuring out how to work together on the sequel |
So there will be a sequel....
I say get Jackie Chan and Tony Jaa in this and have them square off. It would be epic. |
YOUR MOM
|
Just read online that Stallone is already getting a cast together for Expendables 2. He mentioned that hes trying to get all the people he and the fans wanted for the first one but couldnt join on...like Seagal and JCVD.
As for the supervillian......Stallone but a post on Twitter stating that he was having lunch with Bruce Willis about playing the next villian. |
They should have Willis play the villain, who tries to pit Stallone's team against Arnold's team (featuring the new cast members)
Then they all just team to get Bruce Willis and his small army of henchmen. Pretty simple math |
Off topic: Has Stallone ever played the bad guy?
|
Wasn't he the bad guy in Spy Kids 3? :P
|
The sequel needs...
Bruce Fucking Campbell |

Just give him a chainsaw and a BOOMSTICK!

Goody little two shoes....goody little two shoes....
|
Steve Austin was a bad guy in the first. For the sequel, how about Dwayne Johnson.
|
He has worked with Arnold before.
