seriously do they need to change the name. how important is this to their lives?

New Pay Per Views make no Sense

I Don't like this new PPV Business.

What they should do:
- Get ride of Hell In A Cell, It's Stupid, and to many gimick PPV's is bad...

- If they Insist on still keeping/calling it Bragging Rights; put it in between The Rumble and Mania...

- Take "No Way Out" and make that the Hell in a Cell PPV if they must have an anual HIAC PPV...(this way they can keep the name and go back to regular format if they don't want to do a Hell in a Cell)

- If they want to have an anual Elemination Chamber, just add it to the damn Survivor Series, Have traditional Survivor Series Matches too.

- If they must creat another PPV, I can't thinkn of one from the top of my head but I'd say bring something back (King of the Ring, any big NWA/WCW PPV, I wouldn't mind a When Worlds Colide type thing, with one night contracted wrestlers like one night stand, with new japan, all japan, AAA, whatever international promotion they can. Hell even bring back one night stand but don't make it ECW, make it just one Night stand for wrestlers who aren't usualy in the company contracted for one night to work their ass off, free agents from all over the world against Raw, ECW, Smackdown... it would be a good way to bring in FCW Development, say they're from the indy circuit)

Edit: Ooops, this was supposed to be asking what you guys would do with it and what you think of the new PPV's they have...

Mr. Nerfect 10-10-2009 04:15 AM

I don't like the idea of an annual Elimination Chamber. I've said this before, but I believe that the EC should come naturally from feuds. It made sense when it was first done, as you had a lot of guys going after the World Heavyweight Title -- and it was a way for Eric Bischoff to say "this title has arrived!"

Now it's done to decide #1 Contender's and stuff. Bullshit. The same goes with Hell in a Cell. It's meant to be a "feud-ender," yet now we have set dates when we know that any two guys are going to go into the match. Fuck that off. Hell in a Cell should only come about when a feud demands it.

TLC is in the same boat as those two. Bragging Rights I don't mind so much, but it seems to be off to a messy start. It might be better to have the entire card as inter-promotional, or just do a completely separate "Bragging Rights Match" between SmackDown! and RAW. Then surround that with a normal card.

If they want to make PPVs more "exciting," then I don't see why they haven't brought back King of the Ring -- or replace Armageddon with the Starrcade name. It's just a name change, but it would be good to wrap up the year with something big.

Team Sheep 10-10-2009 08:22 AM

I hate the Bragging Rights idea. There hasn't been any tension, loyalty or passion between the two brands for years. Why are we suddenly supposed to care about guys fighting for their brand? The Raw vs Smackdown main event thing wouldn't inspire me to purchase it in the slightest.

I agree about Hell in a Cell also, it is supposed to be a feud ender, and you expect guys barely being able to walk to the ring, covered in cuts and bruises the next night on Raw. This week, they all just walked out perfectly fine. Shawn Michaels came out skipping and dancing, Punk was fine with a smile on his face. Hell in a Cell means nothing now, just a glorified cage match, and that's being generous. I feel sorry for the writers having to book 3 cell matches in one night.

Droford 10-10-2009 08:27 AM

If the WWE wasn't so PG, the coolest Gimmick Match PPV name would be WWE: First Blood (First Blood Matches)

Droford 10-10-2009 08:30 AM

I cant wait for Cena/Orton TLC. Greatest Match Ever.

And you know Cena/Orton will be the final 2 in the RAW Elimination Chamber.

Cool King 10-10-2009 09:14 AM

I don't see why they didn't just keep the PPV name as No Way Out.

It makes more sense seeing as the WWE seem to want to make the PPV names related to the Main Event. So No Way Out made sense as there is No Way Out of an Elimination Chamber....unless the refs screws up on locking the door correctly and someone falls out like what happened to The Undertaker.

But other than The Royal Rumble, I don't think I'll get use to having PPV's named after matches. So saying "Hell In A Cell", "TLC: Table, Ladders & Chairs" and now "Elimination Chamber" as PPV names will never really feel right to me. :-\

We now have 10 out of 14 PPV's that are gimmick PPV's.

Royal Rumble - Main Event is a Royal Rumble Match
Elimination Chamber - (I'm guessing) All World Title matches are contested inside an Elimination Chamber
Backlash - WrestleMania Rematches
Extreme Rules - All matches are contested under "Extreme Rules"
Night of Champions- All Matches are Title Matches
Breaking Point - All Main Events are Submission Matches
Hell In A Cell - All Main Events are contested in a Hell In A Cell
Bragging Rights - SmackDown vs Raw for "Bragging Rights"
Survivor Series - 8 Man Tag Team Elimination Matches (I'm guessing this year they'll be 3, one for each brand, unless they forget about ECW for the second straight month in a row)
TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs - All Main Events/World Title Matches will be TLC matches.

Five years ago we only had 4 gimmick PPV's.

How times have changed.

Batista03 10-10-2009 10:44 AM

I agree about the Hell in a Cell match. HIAC should be a match that is booked throughout the year. It was bad enough that the Elimination Chamber has to be for both shows on the same PPV. And now that is PG, hell u dont even see blood or hear damn or anything. Cage matches are suppose to make u leave everything in the ring, but now they go in and very few come out looking like they went to hell and back.

Bragging Rights would work if they build up the Raw vs. Smackdown feud and it would go great to have the PPV around the month they release the SvsR games. But they dont even have a damn general manager for Raw to make the feud work. Making PPV named after main event matches is crazy imo. I agree about using some of the PPV WCW did and having wrestlers from all over come to one or two PPV a year.

I hate that the WWE is now PG. It sucks ass.

Londoner 10-10-2009 10:53 AM

I think the changes highlight how uncreative the writing team is now, if we needed anymore proof, well there we go. Well done vince!

kareru 10-10-2009 01:22 PM

maybe if they are running out of names they should use some of the names from the old wcw ppv's

e.g

Halloween Havoc etc etc

Juan 10-10-2009 01:59 PM

Isn't there already a thread dedicated to complaining about the new PPV names?

Sovereigntywillpr 10-10-2009 02:38 PM

If so sorry, someone put up a link if they find it... and than I guess close this one.

Afterlife 10-10-2009 03:28 PM

To be honest, I"ll be very surprised if there is another "Hell in a Cell" ppv.

Another survey has been sent out to WWE fans asking to help rename yet another PPV. This time it's the May Judgment Day PPV.

According to the list on the survey, fans can pick from the following names: Judgment Day, Riot Control, MultiMania and WWE War Games.

CSL 10-11-2009 03:44 PM

Heard that this afternoon, Judgment Day is gonna be the WarGames show. About time.

Sixx 10-11-2009 04:03 PM

Multimania, ahahaha.

Afterlife 10-11-2009 04:31 PM

What, exactly, is War Games?

CSL 10-11-2009 04:40 PM

Kind of like a cross between Hell In A Cell and Survivor Series. Two teams with staggered entry, two rings, a big cell type cage covering both rings, no pinfalls, can only win by submission, KO or giving up/'throw in the towel'/surrender

thedamndest 10-11-2009 05:08 PM

It's the dream of every kid who ever played with action figures. My War Games always included monster trucks and dinosaurs.

Afterlife 10-11-2009 10:05 PM

Two rings?

Wow, that's one low cage when Bobby Eaton can jump up and grab hold of the ceiling with little effort.
