DOA was fun, sir.
Too "video-gamey" like DOA but with a different atmosphere. DOA was fun actually especially since I didn't expect anything from it. That had a more upbeat tone while this movie tries to be so serious.
Movie is mostly about Jin, his mom and the Mishima boys. They tried to sum up everybody in a few minutes so no one else had their character built up or had their back story delved into at all. I could list more than a dozen things I felt was wrong with the movie but I'm not gonna. I don't expect much from any video game based movie but years of anticipating a Tekken movie I thought they'd actually make one better than this. It's pretty hard to do a tournament style movie based on a video game that works with the exception of MK so I can't fault them that much. |
How are the fight scenes?
They are not bad but nothing special about it. John Foo and Lateef (Gordo) are talented martial artists and watching them is enjoyable. There's too much camera movement and it's too flashy for my tastes though. Also they have the old "hero is outmatched and doesn't stand a chance at first but in the end has the heart to beat his opponent" shtick. Some fights are short and lacking. It's like the first time I watched a movie with fights where it makes me not care about the fighting.

July 19th. Still nerd-raging over Christie's casting. |
Was this ever even in theaters? I don't remember seeing it anywhere but on this forum.
July 19th? I saw this in a second hand store today.
Just looked it up. We got it May 2nd. How lucky for us.
