Sorry about showing the sig, but there's a line in it that kind of says it all about WWEliteXC.

I want UFC to have competition, but from a real promotion, not a bullshit mma/pro wrestling company.

Absolute gentleman.

Also got a pic with Dan Hardy. Really pleased to get that one as he had a great fight. A really sound lad as well.

Really why? Is he laughing at the fact that he'll never even get as much as a mention from UFC cause he sucks balls and is really overrated? Is he laughing cause he was scared of Nick Diaz and didnt wanna fight? I guarantee this much. Nick Diaz and Eddie Alveraz will have several fights in UFC before Dana White even thinks about KJ Noons during his morning shit.

Hopefully UFC sign (or resign) Nick Diaz, Eddie Alverez, Jake Shields, Robbie Lawler, and Rua.

no the fbi will investigate him. dana raised a bretty big stink.

This could be a good thing for Kimbo though. I mean, there must be thousands of people confident enough to fight him in his yard now.

Maybe him being a huge pile of shite was all a bluff until he got back to the bigger leagues of garden party brawling.

I'd doubt some of those names. Robbie Lawler for example was being paid an insane amount of money and he isn't gonna get close to it in the UFC.

Kris P Lettus 10-21-2008 03:26 PM

I'm kinda hoping UFC goes after some of their women..

Mainly for Gina..

I'd like to see Nick Diaz back in UFC also..

Rob 10-21-2008 03:38 PM

I think there is a chance for Diaz. No chance for Gina though unless they try women in the WEC. Very slim chance though.

Kris P Lettus 10-21-2008 03:42 PM

That makes me sad.. I mean, at first I was skeptical about womens MMA but some of those bitches can fight for real..

Plus, Gina is super hottt..

I don't think he hates it. I'm thinking that he believes he has enough trouble right now getting male MMA regulated and taken seriously and trying womens MMA only makes it harder right now. Plus the gap between the best fighters and the others is massive. Severe lack of competition.

Diaz seems like a shoe-in considering he's one of the most exciting fighters there is and his brother is tearing it up in UFC right now. I would love to see Diaz vs GSP. How sick would that be. GSP would most likely win, but I think he'd take a beaten in doing so.

Rob 10-21-2008 09:17 PM

Diaz wouldn't even get a fight with GSP. He has too many losses on his record to talent not close to a title shot like the pussy Armenian and Dirty Diego.

Rob 10-21-2008 09:19 PM

Oh I found a link to the Hardy vs. Gono fight but there is no sound (Japanese feed) so if someone wants it, I'll link.

Yah duh. I mean he'd have to string together some victories first, but i dunno if you know this or no, but Koshchek is in line to get the next title shot at GSP if he wins his next two fights which are like 2 months apart now. I'm just saying, Dana is gunna want to get some new fights going and that division is close to recycling the same fights as long as GSP keeps winning. Plus Diaz vs GSP = ratings.

1 - Alves vs. Koscheck fight is winner gets title shot. If Koscheck wins, he doesn't even have to take the December fight to get the title shot although he probably will. He is getting a shot regardless though.

2 - I don't think Diaz can take the top guns at 170lbs to be honest and I wish he could. I think Alves, Serra, GSP, Koscheck and Fitch would beat him right now. And I wouldn't bet on Diaz against Matt Hughes or Diego Sanchez either. Paul Taylor, Marcus Davis, Mike Swick and Chris Lytle would all favour their dances too although I think he would probably beat them.

Impact! 10-22-2008 01:56 PM

imo I think Diaz could beat Serra, Lytle, Davis and Swick. I think he would have trouble against guys like Sanchez, Hughes, Koscheck, and Fitch, though I don't think it would be outside the realm of possibility for him to beat them. I don't think he'd be able to Karo, Alves, or GSP though...

FORREST GRIFFIN vs. “SUGAR” RASHAD EVANS

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 27
LIVE FROM THE MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA – LAS VEGAS, NV

The stacked fight card will be headlined by UFC light heavyweight champion and the original Ultimate Fighter® Forrest Griffin as he defends his belt against The Ultimate Fighter® Season 2 heavyweight winner Rashad Evans, who is fresh off a devastating knockout win over former UFC champion Chuck Liddell.

“We are ending 2008 with a fight card like no other,” said UFC President Dana White. “One for every fight fan out there.”

UFC® Fight Club™ members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to this event Wednesday, October, 22 at 10a.m. PT via the website ufc.com. A special Internet ticket pre-sale will be available to UFC newsletter subscribers Friday, October 24 starting at 10 a.m. PT. To access this presale, users must register for the UFC newsletter through ufc.com.

UFC 92: THE ULTIMATE 2008 is available live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network, TVN, Bell ExpressVu, Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $44.95 for standard definition or high-definition broadcasts (where available).

Not one, but two titles are on the line on December 27th as former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir continues his pursuit to regain the belt when he meets Interim UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira in a showdown between the two coaches of this season’s edition of The Ultimate Fighter®. Also on tap is a grudge match between two former champions, as MMA legend Wanderlei Silva takes on former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Who is the greatest champion to ever come out of The Ultimate Fighter? That question could very well be answered as Forrest Griffin (16-4) meets the red-hot Rashad Evans (17-0-1) for the 205-pound crown. Las Vegas, Nevada’s Griffin has won three in a row, including a submission victory against former PRIDE® champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and a stirring decision win over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Niagara Falls, NY native and former national junior college champion wrestler Evans is starting to compile quite a highlight reel with knockout wins over Jason Lambert, Sean Salmon and most recently UFC legend Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell.

“Forrest fights from the heart just like me, and everyone underestimates Forrest until they get in there with him, like me,” said Evans. “I think he and I are going to be like Ali vs. Frazier – this will be the first time we meet, but it won’t be the last, so I want to set the precedent. Fighting Forrest for the title is a dream come true; it’s crazy to think about how far I’ve come, but I’m going to treat this like every other fight. And like I’ve shown time and time again in my fights, opportunity is all I need.”

As always, Griffin remains focused and humble.

“I’m happy that the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 gets to fight the winner of Season 2,” Griffin said. “I think that’s great for a couple of reality show guys. Rashad has a great wrestling background, he has a lot of power and explosiveness, and he doesn’t just knock guys out, he knocks them out for quite a while. But I know a lot of people will be watching this fight. This is a great fight card, I’m honored to be on it, and I’m definitely not going to let anything slide.”

It’s almost time for The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir coaches to step from the Octagon™ apron to inside the cage and decide who deserves to be the heavyweight champion. Las Vegas’ Frank Mir (11-3) will meet the only man ever to hold the PRIDE and UFC heavyweight titles, Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira (31-4-1). The matchup features two Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts that seem to enjoy high-profile matches.

“I’m excited to get back in the Octagon December 27th and finish off what was started on The Ultimate Fighter Season 8,” said Nogueira. “I’m the Interim Champion, I’m fired up to fight Frank Mir. He’s one of the best ground guys in America and I’m looking forward to testing my skills against him.”

As former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir readies himself for his greatest test yet, he appreciates the fact that he’s about to lock horns with an MMA legend.

“It’s a huge honor fighting Nogueira,” Mir said. “No matter what happens at the end of the night, I’ll be a better fighter for it. I’m looking ahead; I’m not looking back at where I came from. I’m going to keep pushing forward, and getting my title back is just another step forward for me.”

In what has “fight of the night” written all over it, former PRIDE champion Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva faces a man who he has beaten twice before in Memphis, Tennessee native Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Both of these fighters have dynamite in their fists, and Rampage (28-7) is looking to prove that he is a different and greatly improved fighter.

“Wanderlei is an exciting fighter with awesome skills,” said Jackson. “I think this is going to be the fight of the year. Don’t miss it.”

But Curitiba, Brazil’s Silva (32-8-1), who is coming off a vicious KO win over Keith Jardine, didn’t return the compliment.

“I’m not fighting him for money – I’m fighting him for pure pleasure,” Silva said. “He talks bad about me on the Internet, yet he won’t talk bad to my face. I don’t like him and I can’t wait to beat him down at UFC 92.”

Diaz already gave a good Karo a very close fight which I personally thought he won. Kayo has been shit since really.

I don't think he would last with Matt Serra at all. Serra's jujitsu is certainly stronger as is his power. Diaz isn't going to be able to do those stupid half ass jabs to him. Also I think he'd struggle standing against Lytle and Davis.

RP 10-22-2008 08:04 PM

What? Diaz would murder Matt Serra.

Rob 10-22-2008 08:54 PM

Serra has been stopped twice in his career and one is arguably the flukest KO in the history of MMA and the other was against the arguably the best welterweight ever.

Diaz isn't gonna knock him out and his jujitsu isn't better than Serra's so although he might, I very much doubt he'd submit him. Serra also won big fights and Diaz has pretty much lost all of his biggest fights.

I love watch Nick Diaz fight but I can't see him being a top guy ever really. Serra already proved his worth.

RP 10-23-2008 08:39 AM

First of all Rob, you're severly overrated Serra's BJJ. As far as in ring MMA, Diaz has shown way more and way better BJJ in his fights. See the Sanchez and Parisyan fights. Aside from a fluke tko ( imo ) on GSP, who's Serra beat? Lytle, ok, but Lytle wasnt nearly as good as he is now.

Diaz has beaten, Robbie Lawler via knock out. He banged the shit out of Gomi and then finished him with a gogoplata and i refuse to believe marijuana had anything to do with that. If anything it worked against him cause i mean what retard would go into the ring with Gomi stoned off his ass. He shoulda got the decision against Karo.

Serra's BJJ isnt built for MMA. Sure i think if Serra and Diaz were to enter a BJJ tournament, i'd probably give the edge to Serra. But we're talking about MMA. Whole nother ball game. Serra would get worked over badly by Diaz if they fought.

Impact! 10-23-2008 09:32 AM

Serra V Diaz would be an interesting fight, it could really swing either way imo...Diaz's problem is he either seems to on (really on) or really off. If he can fight at his best imo he'd beat Serra, but I can still see it going to Serra just as easily.

RP 10-23-2008 09:35 AM

I actually think Diaz's problem is he tends to fall in love with his stand up game. He has great BJJ. But sometimes he just stands and trades punches for 3 rounds.

Impact! 10-23-2008 10:16 AM

That's definetly another problem. I think he still thinks he's incredible for standing and banging against Lawler (Knocking him out certainly didn't help that either).

Sorry what fights since the Lawler fight has Diaz stood and traded for 3 rounds?

And his BJJ didn't beat Parysian or Sanchez so it wasn't that great.

In all seriousness, I love Nick Diaz but he hasn't come close to looking like a world beater since he lost the two previously mentioned fights.

Nate Diaz on the other hand has looked better and better.

It isn't on for sure. Koscheck says he'll do the fight if he is injury free. Anything can happen this Saturday. The commission could give him a medical suspension for a cut or something.

Getting headbutted is called Pulling a Shamrock? Isn't that a Liverpool kiss (or something)

Rob 10-23-2008 12:55 PM

Well the rumour is maybe he didn't get headbutted. Maybe he gigged himself to get out of the fight because he was getting half the money Kimbo was. He did demand more money the morning of the fight.

I don't believe this though but the rumour is out there.

Fabien Barthez 10-23-2008 01:12 PM

I'd still love to see the cut. Or just hear a bit more from him about it than the predictable garbage he said on TV.

There is more to it than meets the eye. (NPI) If it was as honest as made out, there wouldn't be so much silence on the matter. I think Ken is lucky with the outcome of the fight, because had Kimbo done as expected, the MMA media would have been firmly knocking on his door seeking answers.

Kris P Lettus 10-23-2008 03:51 PM

Quote:

Affliction Entertainment, the fledgling fight promotion that first splashed onto the MMA scene with its ubiquitous t-shirts, has rejected a bid to partner with the industry-leading UFC.

MMAWeekly.com spoke to multiple industry sources that confirmed that the basics of a deal had been brokered to allow Affliction back into the organization as a major clothing sponsor, including the possibility of UFC/Affliction co-branded apparel.

The UFC banned the clothing company in January of 2008 when they learned of Affliction’s desire to promote MMA events.

In exchange for the formal partnership, Affliction would agree to cease operations as a fight promoter. Select fighter contracts from Affliction’s talent roster would presumably be bought out by the UFC.

A meeting took place between UFC and Affliction executives on Sept. 26, where the idea was first openly discussed. Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio was present, in addition to UFC president Dana White. According to a source, Randy Couture and his lawyers may have attended the meeting as well. Talks were cordial, and Affliction executives agreed to come up with a proposal of their own. All agreed the group would reconvene in a short time period to sort through the issues of a potential deal.

Communication began to deteriorate, though, with Affliction’s ad campaign for EliteXC’s “Heat,” on Oct. 4. The airing of several ads trumpeting Fedor Emelianenko’s return reportedly made UFC executives wary the deal was not being taken seriously.

The partnership was placed further in doubt by Affliction’s lucrative licensing deals with UFC champions Randy Couture and Georges St. Pierre. Couture’s clothing line, Xtreme Couture, is controlled by partners of Affliction, according to court filings from the now-dismissed legal action with the UFC concerning Couture’s employment agreement. Couture has a substantial, but minority interest in the popular clothing brand.

Affliction had also partnered with boxing promoter Golden Boy on Sept. 13, announcing a deal to co-promote four boxing/MMA hybrid cards in 2009.

Two weeks passed since the first meeting with no constructive communication between Affliction and the UFC. Both sides believed the deal was off the table, but on Monday, a conference call took place between, among others, Lorenzo Fertitta and Todd Beard, Affliction’s co-founder.

Though the deal was not formally rejected by Affliction, it was clear that the goodwill between the parties had disappeared. While it’s unclear how the conversation went south, it went south quickly, with both parties directing profanities at one another. Towards the end, Beard reportedly told Ferttita, “you’ve (expletive) with the wrong guy.”

Needless to say, Affliction’s window of opportunity with the UFC appears to be closed.

A resolution between the two companies may have been beneficial for both. The UFC could have counted one less competitor, and potentially picked up fighters like Emelianenko and Arlovski, ensuring a robust future for its heavyweight division. Affliction could have re-established a proven revenue stream and cemented itself with a company that’s rapidly approaching global proportions.

But ultimately for Affliction, the decision that got them kicked out of the organization has kept them from getting back in.

According to sources from within Affliction and CBS, there may be little reason for the clothing company cum fight promoter to mourn the loss. Talks of a broadcast partnership that could place Affliction on primetime television are ongoing.

Few details have emerged on the shape of Affliction/Golden Boy’s first announced co-promotion in January, though Atencio confirmed that the card would showcase only mixed martial arts events. Emelianenko is still the headliner of the show, facing Andre Arlovski for the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight belt on Jan. 24 at The Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Affliction are stupid for not making this deal happen..

I don't know if i even believe that happened.

I doubt it. His cut is legit. How it got it is another story. I don't think he fucked it up anyway purely because I can't see Ken Shamrock refusing $250k.

how are they stupid? the stipulations of the deal are that theyd have to stop promoting fights and only certain fighters were going to be bought up anyway.

It would be horrible if UFC ate them up.

Im glad at least someone in the business has integrity and cares about the fighters

Kris P Lettus 10-23-2008 05:59 PM

I can see your point but, they already had to cancel a show due to the money not being there.. I can see that happening again.. They have the chance to be a sponsor to the biggest MMA promotion ever, instead they are gonna end up a t-shirt company who failed at being a contender in the sport of MMA.. Then even those fighters who UFC is interested in right now, will be just as unemployed as the fighters they are not interested in..

Kris P Lettus 10-23-2008 06:02 PM

p.s. don't get me wrong, I hope they do well, cause competition is great for the sport of MMA as a whole.. The better the comp is, the better UFC has to be to remain on top.. I just don't think they'll be able to contend in the long run..

Rob 10-23-2008 06:15 PM

UFC would be stupid for taking those huge contracts. Affliction have maybe 2 more shows in them before them go under.

Reavant 10-23-2008 06:30 PM

affliction only had a plan for 3 shows anyway. I think they were just trying to open the door for other companies but with this elite xc fuck up, its not lookin good

Affliction website promotes Emelianenko vs. Arlovski for Jan. 24 | MMAjunkie.com

Fedor Emelianenko will apparently meet Andrei Arlovski in the "Affliction: Day of Reckoning" main event, after all.

Although Affliction Entertainment Vice President Tom Atencio recently declined to confirm any details of the event, the organization's website now promotes a Jan. 24 headline fight between the current WAMMA heavyweight champion and the former UFC title-holder.

Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland, Vitor Belfort, Vladimir Matyushenko, Jay Hieron, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Chris Horodecki are also promoted as event participants.

The event was originally scheduled to take place Oct. 11 in Las Vegas, but "Day of Reckoning" organizers postponed the event last month. As MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) previously mentioned, a new partnership with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions was cited as the reason for the postponement, but slow ticket sales may also have factored into the decision.

"Day of Reckoning" is expected to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The main card will air on pay per view, and the preliminary card is slated to air on HDNet.

Arlovski (14-5) was last seen successfully defeating IFL champion Roy Nelson at "EliteXC: Heat" earlier this month. The bout was a co-promoted affair between Affliction and the now-defunct EliteXC, which recently alerted the Nevada State Athletic Commission that it's ceased operations.

Prior to the Nelson victory, Arlovski defeated former IFL stand-out Ben Rothwell at Affliction's debut event in July. At that same event, Emelianenko (28-1) defeated former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia with a quick submission victory in the night's main event.

Brock Lesnar may be training for the biggest fight of his short career when he faces off against Randy Couture at UFC 91 in Las Vegas, Nevada in November. Lesnar knows he will face off against stiff competition when he faces Couture, so lesnar’s representatives have asked the NSAC to remove veteran referee Steve Mazzagatti from consideration to officiate the bout.

Lesnar’s representatives, David Olsen and Brian Stegeman told Sherdog.com about why they asked for “Mazz” to be removed from consideration.

Lesnar’s reps claim he was “involved in what we believe was a controversial ruling in connection with the Mir-Lesnar fight.” Lesnar’s reps told Sherdog. ”They asked that Mazzagatti be removed from consideration for the UFC 91 main event to avoid “distraction” and “any further controversy.”
The incident they are speaking about is when Mazzagatti took a point away from lesnar for hitting Frank Mir in the back of the head at UFC 81 earlier this year. Lesnar was critical several times of Mazzagatti’s point deduction in the bout.

Head of the NSAC Keith Keizer said he thought Mazzagatti did a great job calling the fight at UFC 81.

“I think Mazzagatti did a great job that night,” Kizer said.
With Lesnar’s request to have Mazzagatti removed from consideration, you have to wonder if this could actually come back to hurt Lesnar in his professional MMA career. I am not a referee, but I am pretty sure Lesnar’s blows were illegal from what I remember. Besides will referees backlash at Lesnar for attempting to pick and choose his officials? I guess we will find out in the near future.
He has a point but it seems kinda unprofessional..

I dunno..

Destor 10-24-2008 01:01 AM

Hell yeah has a point. Still not smart though.

Super anti-UFC.. It's funny cause Dana even said that Ferrall used to be all on UFC's nuts (which he did cause I used to listen to him on Sirius) until EXC and Affliction offered him more money.. His loyalty is bought and sold.. I used to like him..
