Cyndi Lauper "Guest Starring" on RAW this week.

Hope it leads to her going into the Hall of Fame. Like I've said, her, Tyson and Mr. T are first three celebrities that should have gone in based on merit.

FourFifty 06-15-2012 07:42 PM

Hey, you don't know him, and this is crazy. We need a bald rookie, book Maven maybe?

Yeah. There's no way someone named Daniel Crummett exists.

Sorry, we're full. Should check out that other bandwagon for loving Brooke Hogan. It's pretty empty and could use some jumpers.

Mr. Nerfect 06-15-2012 10:14 PM

Vince McMahon really bothered me on RAW this week. Is anyone else in that boat?

Xero 06-15-2012 10:38 PM

You mean mocking Good Ol' JR's Bells' Palsy?

Xero 06-15-2012 10:41 PM

Feels like that's a DAMN iNATOR post.

Mr. Nerfect 06-15-2012 10:49 PM

Yeah, that, and basically saying Big Show is shit, Tensai is shit, Daniel Bryan is shit, Sheamus is shit, etc.

Xero 06-15-2012 10:51 PM

Well, it IS the "shoot era"......

Xero 06-15-2012 10:52 PM

Saddest/scariest thing is that Vince probably takes the most care into crafting his own segments, so he thought they were gold and got the talent over...

Mr. Nerfect 06-15-2012 10:52 PM

I just read the Impact report, and it sounds pretty decent. Austin Aries has the choice to give up the X-Division Title and challenge Bobby Roode at Destination X. Part of me is kind of hoping they go all the way with Aries and have him win their World Title.

Roode could then be pissy that he's not in the Bound For Glory Series, and he pays someone to keep attacking James Storm's opponents, costing Storm points for losing by DQ. Roode is revealed as being behind it, and we do get Roode vs. Storm at Bound For Glory, but it's just not for the title. Aries defends the World Title against the winner of the Bound For Glory series, which, in my dream world, would come down to either Samoa Joe, Magnus, Kurt Angle or Christopher Daniels.

That's what is really scary about the whole thing to me. I enjoy Vince McMahon the character at times (I seriously used to be a mark for it), but his whole appearance on RAW seemed hostile and awkward. "Look at how cool Vince McMahon is marching to the beat of his own drum and hating on his own show!"

Xero 06-15-2012 10:53 PM

Have been hearing TNA is pretty good lately. Might actually give them a chance.

With my/their luck I'll tune in on the week they decide to finally put Brooke and Hulk vs. Eric and Garrett into motion.

VSG 06-15-2012 11:07 PM

I am going to their house show tomorrow and paid for top seats with the meet and greet option. Guaranteed to meet Kurt Angle, Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy (lol). Might try to sneak a few pictures with them.

Anything that TPWW wants me to ask them? I am fairly certain Hardy will be high as fuck though.

#1-norm-fan 06-15-2012 11:32 PM

Yeah. Ask him to say the alphabet backwards.

#1-norm-fan 06-16-2012 02:30 AM

I don't remember the last time a heel was booked as well as Mark Henry a little bit before and then during his title reign.

Juan 06-16-2012 02:42 AM

His reign as ECW champion was pretty good too

Lock Jaw 06-16-2012 03:03 AM

Loved his mini-feud/series against CM Punk just before he left.

Tom Guycott 06-16-2012 03:05 AM

It is like a "refined" run similar to when he started the whole "Silverback" thing. I was a fan of that too, and it looked like it was headed to good things for Henry. Then he got hurt again.

As usual, he will return as a face for awhile. Such is the pattern in Mark Henry's career.

Come in as a face > turn heel > get injured

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

#1-norm-fan 06-16-2012 03:06 AM

I can't remember if I enjoyed his ECW title reign or not. I do remember that it seemed like they were just throwing the title on him because it was a third rate title for what amounted to a glorified developmental brand. He was the "big fish in a small pond".

I loved the fact that they had him go Orton clean twice to win and retain the World title. I'm a huge Orton fan but that's how you build a monster heel to the top. Take one of your top faces and just have him try his best and fail to topple him. I wish they could have built it to a big climax with Orton finally overcoming Henry. Could have been a classic moment.

Tom Guycott 06-16-2012 03:06 AM

Just started watching Smackdown. Why was I expecting AJ's explanation to be:

"There's a very simple explanation... I did it... for the Rock" ?

The matches were good. I just wish they wouldn't have made it a habit of breaking his "monster" streak by jobbing him to Sheamus in like a minute on Raw and having him look normal again leading up to it. Might have actually given that vibe that he's still the same guy who beat Orton cleanly and could easily take the title away from Punk.

Emperor Smeat 06-16-2012 04:49 PM

Might be a small sign of the future or just WWE prioritizing hyping a ppv but the 3 hour RAW (45 mins) had less wrestling overall than the normal RAW (52 mins) a week before.

The extra hour didn't add anything extra in terms of in-ring stuff. In terms of ratings breakdown, the Punk/Bryan promo gained viewers while the JR skit lost viewers.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:08 PM

At the TNA house show, done with the meet and greet. Garrett Bischoff looks like a slap-worthy douche but is pretty cool irl. Matt Morgan was an ass though, did a quick round and didn't sign anything, let alone take pics. He even ignored a disabled kid :nono:

VSG 06-16-2012 09:10 PM

Bought a "brown bag" that's teal in color. It had random DVDs, a TNA impact shirt, a 10 year slammiversary program with pages for each person which came out real useful for autographs.

Oh also a "random" action figure which was either of Foley or Nash (ex-TNA). Ended with Foley here, no complaints.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:12 PM

Good god Velvet Sky is so fucking hot. Took pics of most people with a stupid old point and shoot as TNA does not like DSLRs :n:

Angelina Love is an ugly, anorexic man.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:13 PM

Lol Jeff Hardy randomly showed up at the ramp entrance, did his hand motions and left. Fairly certain only 10ish people noticed.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:14 PM

OF COURSE I get to sit surrounded by sweaty, obese, smelly people.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:17 PM

Random guy with microphone announces 15 min countdown to the show and immediately Lady Gaga's Bad Romance blasts through the arena speakers.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:23 PM

Winter/Angelina Love vs Tara/Velvet Sky. Sign guy had a sign for everyone and Tara came over to talk to him.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:50 PM

Obese guy next to me got warned for shouting "I'll make you squirt hard" nonstop to Velvet Sky. Finally shuts up. Thank god.

VSG 06-16-2012 09:54 PM

"Pull her hair out" chants going on. Wow rough crowd.

VSG 06-16-2012 10:02 PM

VSG 06-16-2012 11:36 PM

Great match. Went easy over 20 minutes.

When did Hardy debut this new theme? It is even worse than his "Modest to the top". Also he took over 2 minutes to make his entrance and is high as fuck. He missed a girl's hand when going for a high five and hit her boob.

VSG 06-16-2012 11:57 PM

Good match again, managed to get a pic with Bobby Roode and Sign Guy before leaving. I will give TNA this- they put up a heck of a house show.

That usually sums up an episode of Impact, but they actually put together a good house show.

Did you get free tickets for covering it for a paper? Or did you just go as a normal spectator?

Again, never saw the appeal to the looks of "Angeliner". Just because she's in the limelight and has boobs and presumably a uterus doesn't automatically make her hot like a lot of people seemed to go batshit over. She just looks like a trampy dressing man. Glad someone else around her has the sense to see it that way... just sorry you had to in person.

I really want Mark Henry to come back as a babyface bad-ass. Has he ever played that role before? Every time the dude has been half-way credible has been as a heel, from memory. The dude is getting up there in age, and can't be depended on as a long-term babyface investment -- but as a dude who can win a World Title, spend a few months being cheered before stepping out of the spotlight, but perhaps still doing public appearances for the WWE? Henry could nail that.

It would all depend on just how big a Mark Henry return would be; but I could see the dude getting a pretty nice return pop.

whiteyford 06-17-2012 08:55 AM

The problem is they'd water him down as soon as he got over, they did the same thing with Orton and Sheamus which is a shame because i think Henry could play that role well.

Matt Morgan finished his commitments with TNA Wrestling at last week’s live event tour in Texas. At Saturday’s show in Houston, Morgan grabbed a sign from a ringside fan reading “Going, Going, Gone” and held it up to the audience.

Morgan expressed frustration with management during a radio station interview Thursday promoting the house show tour, saying his “beef is with the company.”
“I don’t feel like I’m getting what I’m putting into TNA,” Morgan stated on 102.5 FM The Bear. He then called himself the “ultimate head-turner in TNA” and said he’s tired of a “carrot dangling in front of my face.”

He did do that last night, and it was Sign Guy's sign. I think I got a picture of that, need to check.
