Oh, was I the only one that thought Dickov's penalty was going to be saved the second the ref pointed to the spot?

We didn't see it over here. But I thought he would score, but its one of those where theres shitloads of pressure and you have to really hold your nerves. Good save apparently.

toxic rooster 04-24-2004 01:18 PM

I dunno what it was, I just...knew that James would save it.

Granted I had the same feeling when Murphy took his penalty for liverpool :-\

Wengerland 04-24-2004 01:34 PM

Why the hell did it take the ref 5 minutes to get round to the penalty being taken from when the decision was made? That had to be playing on Dickov's mind, but yeah i thought he'd score.

Yeah thats what I meant by the pressure on Dickov, emotions were running high, the fans were in full force, Dickov HAD to score if you want to stay up, especially with City in the position they are in.

What a choke artist

toxic rooster 04-24-2004 02:02 PM

West Brom promoted again :o

But how many chances did Anelka have to bury Leicester (and Leeds probably too) today?

Wengerland 04-24-2004 02:04 PM

Yep.The only 3 players who are good enough for the premiership are leaving us at the end of the season.

That being Bent,Ferdinand and Izzet btw.Walker probably is too i guess.

toxic rooster 04-24-2004 02:11 PM

Yeah couldn't they have picked a better name than Izzet, it's very confusing

Because the commenator will be all like "Scowcroft, Izzet"

And I'll be going "IS IT WHAT"

and he'll be all like "Izzet"

and I'll be all like "IS IT WHAT"

Wengerland 04-24-2004 02:19 PM

There's been a few occasions when they just say "IZZET"

*then he shoots*

"IT IS!!!!!!!!!11"

Anyway, looks like we'll have to get something from Arsenal and thats just hoping Man City lose all their games, though i reckon we'll lose all our remaining matches and finish bottom.

Cactus Sid 04-24-2004 04:32 PM

<font face=verdana size=3 color="#ff6600">I feel a bit sorry for the way Norwich and West Brom have been promoted this year, they've both gone up because other teams have failed to win games, rather than them beating teams and going up.

Just seems a bit of a shame since I can remember us playing Burnley and Rotherham last season and the atmoshpere was amazing. :(</font>

Rob Ban Fan 04-24-2004 06:46 PM

<font face=verdana size=3 color="#ff6600">Also, hopefully we can get a point tomorrow. If we get a point or a win, im sure we'll stay up, if we lose then we're right back in it. :(</font>

Cactus Sid 04-24-2004 08:33 PM

Play up Pompey, everyone in the country wants them to stay up

Cactus Sid 04-24-2004 08:34 PM

Except Southampton fans

Wengerland 04-24-2004 08:50 PM

Yeah i even came up with a new version of their crowd chant.

El Capitano Gatisto 04-24-2004 10:02 PM

Rivaldo is the man.

toxic rooster 04-24-2004 10:47 PM

Yeah this one time I was watching Arsenal v Blackburn with my mates. David Tugay was playing for Blackburn, and every time he got the ball the commentator would go nuts and go "TUGAY!!!" and every time he did that my mate would go "a girl and a pizza place"

My tip is Leeds to win tonight. Only because we know what they can do with their backs against the wall. But my money's on Leeds or Man City following Wolves and Leicester down :(

toxic rooster 04-24-2004 10:48 PM

LOL at irony of "my money's on Leeds to go down"

I know this isn't Premiership talk, but it's still football talk.

This afternoon I just saw extended highlights of the Athens derby between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos which ended up being 2-2. F</>ucking hell, I have NEVER seen so many flares being let off at the one time (when Panathinaikos went 1-0 up). Behind that goal about 10 were ripped before the penalty taker took his shot, so there was a fair bit of smoke when the penalty was taking place, and when he scored it, about 40 more were ripped and chucked everywhere. That entire goalie area was covered with flares and most of the ground was covered in smoke. The game had to be stopped for a few minutes so the cops could get all the flares off the pitch

Still I was sitting there going HOLY SH</>IT  :|

Hopefully it's like that for the Olympics. :D

Oh and just quietly, go Leeds for tonight.

toxic rooster 04-25-2004 04:55 AM

Wee Gooner will be up till 2 watching MASSIVE night of football tonight

Leeds v Pompey
Chelsea v Newcastle
Arsenal v Tottenham

3-2
2-2
2-0

yianni 04-25-2004 05:27 AM

At least that's what I want it to be. In reality though it will probably be

1-2
0-0
9-0 :p

Wengerland 04-25-2004 05:57 AM

2-1 to Pompey
2-1 to Newcastle
1-1 in other game.

I was pleased about our fans yesterday.:y:

Wengerland 04-25-2004 05:58 AM

I read on teletext that Ronaldo has said he'll follow Beckham to Chelsea,if that's where he goes.Stalker

toxic rooster 04-25-2004 06:01 AM

So you're predicting that Arsenal will lift the trophy tonight?

PS It is now mathematically impossible for ManYoo to overtake arsenal

Wengerland 04-25-2004 06:32 AM

I think i read that the last 3 Arsenal/Spurs games at the Lane have finished 1-1,so i'll just go with the flow.:$!

toxic rooster 04-25-2004 06:42 AM

So?

The last 3 Arsenal-Leeds games all finished 4-1 :-\

Rob 04-25-2004 06:43 AM

Man United are sh</>it!

Next season can't come quick enough.

toxic rooster 04-25-2004 06:44 AM

I'd love to see the result of an inquest into their season.

Wengerland 04-25-2004 06:48 AM

Ok i think Arsenal will win, forgot that United and Chelsea had won their so they most likely will.

I'll go for 3-1 to the Gunners.

You mean like not losing to you in three games? :p

Have to gloat over something.

Dazz 04-25-2004 07:44 AM

1-0 to the Pompey so far, Yakubu after nine minutes, Duberry let him go, header into the bottom left, thatnk god we sold him.

Yeah I'm going to stick £20 on you winning the league next season.

Ferguson is a clever guy, he knows where the weaknesses in you team is, who to bring in, who to get rid of.

Depends who Chelsea bring in. Arsenal won't have another season like they just did.

Ronaldo and Beckham.

*crosses fingers*

The Mask 04-25-2004 08:29 AM

yeah it's probably ours next season. We haven't not won it two times in a row while the premierships been going, have we? :$

this'll be the first time we haven't won it in 2 successive seasons though :'(

I bet once it was out of reach fergie just made us job, so that he can go to the board and go "och, we're shit, gimme money" and he'll buy lots of awesome people this summer.

At least he better f</>ucking do, good god.
