Maybe they finally debut the new belt next week? I still don't think Cena winning is a 100% definite. Honestly, either result would be shocking to me because I'd somehow convince myself in the middle of the match X will win and then Y ends up winning. I'd imagine RAW1000 will have one of the biggest audiences (Vince is hoping so anyway) in a long long time, and what better way to establish the face of the new generation and the preferred superstar of the "lost demographic" as not just the guy who has had a hell of a year, not just the guy who is having a great run on top, but establish CM Punk as THE MAN in WWE. Everybody and their momma is going to convince themselves that "CENA WINS!!!1" and so having CM Punk win by hook or crook would be awesome because everybody will go nuts and the kids will cry and move on by SmackDown!

If the rumors of Punk turning heel down the road are true, I'd love to see The Rock screw Cena and Punk start acting semi-heelish and finally snapping and going off on all the "sheep" who supported him just over a year ago and already they have forgotten what he tried to teach all of them and they have forgotten to thank him for the best year in wrestling in over a decade. I still think top babyface Punk has a lot of mileage left in it, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to leave some tread on the tires for down the road. Besides, when is the last time a World Champion turned heel in the middle of a title reign? I can't remember and it isn't done all that much anyway, so it'd be unique and give Punk even more room to be creative in the ring and on the mic. No matter what he does, Punk will make it work and make it awesome.

isn't the 20 year mark for raw this coming january? how are they going to have 2 "giant" shows so close to each other?

6 months is a long time between "megashows".

His name hasn't been on the title since around the beginning of June. I don't know why though.

Really? I might check that out later on the iPlayer.

Is Paige trending due to the Channel 4 programme then?

Yeah, she's alright in the looks department and I'm pretty sure that helped her get signed.

But to me, from watching the documentary, she doesn't really have the "right reasons" so to speak, for being a wrestler. :-\

It's just that the only reason for her first match was to fill in for someone who was injured and before she had her first match, she didn't give a toss about wrestling. Even her mum said that in the documentary.

Then her and her brother go for tryouts for the WWE and she gets signed and her brother, who has actually been wrestling since he was 12 and always wanted to be a wrestler for the WWE, gets turned down.

Then Paige talks to whoever was behind the camera, about how when she "makes it big" she's going to get a villa, horses, fancy cars and have loads of money and be famous. Before that though, she mentioned how she would like the attention of all the fans if she made it to America.

It just seems to me that she's in the business for the wrong reasons, but that's just me. :-\

Lock Jaw 07-18-2012 07:37 PM

Cool King is not impressed.

CSL 07-18-2012 07:39 PM

well yeah but there's a bunch of guys that get into the business for the "wrong reasons" and look how many of those turned out well (see: Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Barry Windham, most of the guys WWE have ever recruited out of college and a shitload more, none of these guys grew up wanting to be wrestlers, Bret and Windham's stories are very similar, wrestling families etc) and she too started out when she was really young (13-14 maybe?) and she's "really good" as far as the birds go (plus the aforementioned looks)

as for Zac 1. he still pretty much looks like shit 2. he's still really young the bastard 3. he's on the radar (tryouts, got squashed by Big Show on Smackdown) 4. from what I've heard he's got his head screwed on and can probably look after himself (Roy/Zebra Kid is a "double hard bastard" according to more than one person) combine these things with his families "rep" and I don't think he's ever going to go short of chances in the wrestling world.

Haven't actually watched the doc yet tho so I'll come back and eat some of my words if any of it makes any of what I just wrote bollocks

Emperor Smeat 07-18-2012 08:11 PM

Probably a lot easier for Paige to be signed than her brother regardless of their passion or training just because of how few Divas or women wrestlers the WWE has at any time (main roster or in development). Less strict on the requirements for skills considering they used to hold annual Diva searches just to fill the female division roster.

I'd assume its also a lot easier for the WWE to develop a female wrestler to their style than a male since he needs to be decent with promos or provide a certain skill in order to stand out and be worth the investment.

I don't get it. Jack Swagger's World title reign is criticized a lot. He had a good match with Orton at Extreme Rules, his feud with Big Show was mildly entertaining (which is more entertaining than Cena's storylines) and his loss to Rey Rey was "shocking".

I know the whole "snap/badass submission machine" thing is a very beaten dead whore around here, but this could honestly work for Swagger.

At the very least, as I've stated elsewhere, they need to repackage him as something other than a blatant Kurt Angle clone. Change up his look. Have him keep the 5 o'clock of a guy on a losing streak, have his hair all ragged, (important) have the announcers put over his losing streak and his frustration, ditch the singlet and the patriotic color scheme, and give him an edge.

There is something to having him be able to take the piss out of Ryback and yet not be able to "beat" him. Could give him and Skippy something to do in the way of a program.

Triple Naitch 07-19-2012 01:02 AM

Many second-generation guys over at FCW, but none has "broken through".

I wonder what's going on.

Yeah, Zac's match with Big Show was shown on the documentary. Also, I found out last night that her mum now works for SHIMMER and currently holds the Shimmer Championship. Anyway, a quote from Paige on the documentary before her FCW debut left me a bit confused and thinking "....what?".

But it's crazy how the last second-generation wrestler that has really made it has been Cody.

There's a lot of them in FCW but they haven't been able to "make it", to distinguish themselves. It's strange.

Also, where's Ted Dibiase Jr? Is he injured?

I definitely think that says something about booking a character that arguably the most over star in wrestling history didn't wrestle all that much on TV. As much as people complain about the lack of actual wrestling on Raw nowadays, when you have creative writers you can have intriguing angles and make people wanna see the big payoff on PPV.
