Hong Man Choi is ten times worse then Sylvia

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 07:58 PM

Well, yeah but Fedor is still the best heavyweight in the world..

The only person who could give him trouble ATM is Couture..

Hong Man Choi, Nog, Gary Goodridge, Ogawa, etc etc..

Sylvia has better takedown defense than you give him credit for. Jeff Monson is a better wrestler than Fedor and he struggled like anything to do anything to him. This is probably the most dangerous fight out there for Fedor right now and I wouldn't be shocked at all if he lost.

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:03 PM

Fedor last fight against a top level fighter was Crocop, and it was nearly 3 years ago.

I can not say he is the best heavyweight in the world atm. In fact I honestly don't know who is.

And again with the expection of Hong man Choi (who sucks) none of those guys are as big as Tim Sylvia.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 08:07 PM

All of them are over 6'3"..

I know Sylvia has a nice take down defense but Couture took him down at will..

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 08:09 PM

Also, Matt Lindland isn't a garbage fighter even though he is past his prime..

Mark Hunt is an awesome striker too..

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:12 PM

Yeah but see Matt Lindland naturally fights at middleweight, and didn't stand much of a chance against heavyweight figther the caliber of Fedor.

Sylvia is 6'7 though, which is like half a foot taller then Fedor.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 08:24 PM

Hong Man Choi is 7'2"..

Innovator 04-08-2008 08:26 PM

Sylvia sucks

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:26 PM

I am well aware, which is why I said excpet for Hong Man Choi.

Innovator 04-08-2008 08:30 PM

The fight will be Sylvtastic...

Sylvia might land a punch....Fedor will take him down....submit him

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:31 PM

And he really sucks. I cannot say that enough.

Syliva is much better then him. So his height difference wasn't a factor, because he is terrible.

Rob 04-08-2008 08:59 PM

I'm tipping Sylvia for the upset.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:02 PM

Rob "Underdog" Harvey

First Serra over GSP and now this..

:nono:

Rob 04-08-2008 09:05 PM

I think Sylvia is a bad match up for Fedor and he avoided fighting him in the past. Point blank told UFC he didn't want to fight him and wouldn't fight him when Dana White was willing to do Pride exchanges. And except for Serra last time, I did good on tipping the big fights last year.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:14 PM

Speaking of which, I thought (that faggot) Fallen Angel was gonna start a UFC Tipster League thing..

Rob 04-08-2008 09:17 PM

I'll start one tomorrow then. Are there like 10 people who wanna do it though? Otherwise I can't be fucked.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:22 PM

me, legend, yourself, reav (even though he dropped out of our NFL one after like week 3), Inno, Mercury Bullet, RP, HBK2K, Stickman, Crimson, etc etc

We've got a few MMA fans here..

Also, you could post a link in the wrestling forum cause I'm sure their are fans in there who don't post outside of that forum..

:-\

Rob 04-08-2008 09:37 PM

Yeah if I haven't posted it by tomorrow, just remind me. I'm lazy like that. I need sleep now though or I'd do it now.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:38 PM

All good..

Reavant 04-08-2008 09:57 PM

k fedor didnt take hong man choi down... he pulled him on top of himself. He took nog down so easily because nog wanted to be taken down so he could work his jits. A lot of the other guys that he took down were much lesser opponents. Sylvia is a tough person to fight with good skills and great takedown defense. He could be some serious trouble for Fedor. Personnally im putting my money on fedor but i could see fedor not being able to take him down and just taking shots to the face most of the fight.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 11:13 PM

I issed one week and was too far behind to care around week 8..

Plus the Saints sucked..

Reavant 04-09-2008 12:11 AM

i missed like 4 weeks in a row and decided the same thing

HeartBreakMan2k 04-10-2008 03:38 PM

Yeah, I actually suggested the MMA tipsters a while back but couldn't be arsed to run it myself. However, I'd be all about participating.

Rob 04-11-2008 01:27 PM

I'll sort it over the weekend.

listen to yesterdays show

Trigg says that when the ufc cut affliction from their shows, they cut over 50% of the fighters income who were sponsored

Thats the main reason Timmy left.

says hes already heard they are negotiating with Sherk and St. George Pierre. its pretty much a done deal

he said that when their contracts r up, they will leave and sherk has 2 fights left. thats why he didnt resign be4 the peen fight.

Dave Meltzer also said the same things in the new wrestling observer
wrestlingobserver.com

Rob 04-11-2008 07:32 PM

They had to cut Affliction once they announced they wanted to start their own MMA group. Not the UFC's problem.

Kris P Lettus 04-11-2008 08:00 PM

Isn't Rampage sponsored by Affliction too??

Reavant 04-12-2008 09:11 AM

yup... theres a ton of guys sponsored by them. Also they give a lot of fighters free shit. Even the ones that dont have a shirt with their name on it.

Just yesterday sherdog released that Fedor will be facing Tim Sylvia over the summer. DreamFighters.com has learned through some sources, and also on the Savage Dog Show, that they have added some fights to the fight card. Here are the rumored bouts:

Tim Sylvia Vs. Fedor

Andrei Arlovski Vs. Ben Rothwell

Babalu Vs. Mike Whitehead

Pedro Rizzo Vs. Josh Barnett

Alexander Emelienenko vs. TBA

These are however rumors, and from limited sources, but we will bring you confirmation once it happens.
Interesting but I dont think its true. Now I know Rob doesnt believe me but I actually DO help Andrei train his wrestling. Hes been on vacation since his last fight and hasne been in contact with my coaches so I find it unlikly that hes got a fight coming up, but we'll see.

Rob 04-12-2008 05:47 PM

Actually I do believe you train with him.

Reavant 04-12-2008 09:12 PM

I stand corrected

Reavant 04-15-2008 01:57 PM

Im an idiot... overtime, the place i train at, is having the senior level wrestlers have their workouts there for getting ready for the olympic trials and stuff and JD Bergman and Tommy Rowlands are gonna be there and my coaches are like, hey you want to come in and work with them, they need a bigger guy to work with. and im like sure. Why i said that i dont know but yesterday i wrestled bergman and i held my own but still it wasnt pretty and today i get to wrestle rowlands... what the hell was i thinking? meh

Reavant 04-15-2008 02:04 PM

oh and i will see andrei tomm so hopefully i can get some news as to whether he is going to be on that card against rothwell.

RP 04-16-2008 10:40 AM

Best Buy has all there UFC DVD's 30% off. There like 10 bucks.

Kris P Lettus 04-16-2008 03:47 PM

I want the box set which is like UFC 50-60 for like $110..

I've been putting off buying it for 2 years..

:(

Rob 04-16-2008 03:56 PM

I don't like the UFC PPV DVD's. No intros and music and some missing hype videos. Pointless.

UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra knows he isn’t going to be the fan favorite when he steps into the octagon at Bell Centre in Montreal in front of the expected largest crowd in North American mixed martial arts history on Saturday night.

“I’m having my trainers and sparring partners boo me on a regular basis, so I’m getting used to it,” said Serra, who defends the title against hometown hero Georges St. Pierre. “It’s the same cage, it doesn’t matter the city.”

While others are talking about the expected noise level for the main event, Serra is thinking about how quiet the crowd will be if things go as he plans: a knockout or submission win.

But he recognizes they won’t be silent at the start.

“It’s not a problem,” Serra said. “I’m just going to get to feel like Tim Sylvia feels in every city.”
LOL

Serra is the man..
