He could be the worst fighter in the world and his personality would sell this fight for me.

Kris P Lettus 04-16-2008 05:14 PM

I used to hate him and found him annoying, but after his TUF appearance, I grew to love him..

That quote about Sylvia is ROFLMFAO..

RP 04-16-2008 05:20 PM

Well, he'll have a tough time running his mouth when he gets his teeth kicked down his throat Saturday. Thats all i know for sure.

Its not going out of the 1st round. St. Pierre will KO him.

Rob 04-16-2008 06:06 PM

GSP's most convincing wins all came against grapplers - BJ Penn, Hughes, Parasyan, Sherk, Koscheck. We have already seen Serra's KO him once and although his wrestling is better, his BJJ certainly won't be close. Obviously GSP is the favourite but there is no way I'm counting out Serra.

Reavant 04-16-2008 06:26 PM

personally im happy if either guy wins

Reavant 04-16-2008 06:26 PM

i def want lutter over franklin tho

Rob 04-16-2008 06:31 PM

Franklin came off like such a pussy on the Countdown show.

In other notes from that show, Georges St Pierre's sister is smoking hot. And I'd fuck Travis Lutter's wife too in a heartbeat.

Yeah but Travis Lutter isn't really that famous, which would be my point btw.

Did Serra and White really NEED to re-enact what Serra did to get his title shot in the middle of the Octagon?

RP 04-19-2008 02:12 PM

LOL Serra called him Frenchie.

Man Serra is gunna be picking his teeth off the ground tonight. Seriously, this is over in the 1st round. Matt Serra will be shitting his own teeth.

In 10 years of fighting, I have undoubtedly concluded that the most exciting action in MMA is the knockout â whether you’re a fighter or a fan.

There is nothing more intense than watching two fighters going at it, then âBam!â In a flash, you’ve got a knockout.

However, there’s a certain type of knockout I think we should discuss, especially in light of UFC Fight Night 13.

During the April 2 event, we saw both Houston Alexander and Karo Parisyan floored by big shots. The fights were stopped, but both fighters argued the stoppages and said they would have been fine to continue â despite the flash knockouts.

As I see it, a flash knockout is a clear-cut knockout, but in the world of MMA, it is not considered a clear knock out. Many fighters are allowed to continue to fight if they become conscious after a brief moment of unconsciousness.

In most cases, when a fighter has been flashed, he believes he can still continue to fight. My personal belief is that the referee should be totally responsible for the decision of whether a fight should continue. I also believe that once a fighter is out, he should be out. A fight should never be continued after a fighter has been knocked out, no matter how short the duration of the knockout.

That’s why I think the rules of MMA need to be amended to account for flash knockouts. It’s for the safety and health of every fighter in the MMA world.

I will agree that knockouts are a very big part of MMA, but so is the safety of the fighter once he has sustained serious head trauma. And make no mistake about it: a flash knockout is serious, regardless of the duration of time the fighter is unconscious.

Fighters train every day for hours with the absolute knowledge that at any time during a fight, they can suffer a knock out. But I believe that the governing bodies of every organization should call a knockout a knockout. They need to be able to spot when a flash knockout actually occurs and prohibit fights from continuing â even if fans disapprove of the stoppages. Such measures will protect the fighter so that he may fight again another day.

Most fans’ complaints derive from the fighter complaining that he could continue to fight and was only out for a few seconds. As tough as it is for them, fighters should also stop complaining—because ultimately, this procedure will protect the sport from becoming purely barbaric.

There is a school of thought in MMA that believes flash knockouts are boring and disappointing â something of a letdown and not ârealâ knockouts. Well, in fighting, a knockout is a knockout. The safety of fighters in MMA should always be paramount to the entertainment value of the fight.

I myself have been flashed knocked, and it came during my first career loss. I was facing Hayato Sakurai in a December 2000 Shoot event. After rethinking my experience, I believe the fight should have been called right then during the KO, but I was given a standing eight count and was knocked out by a knee later in the fight.

I woke up an hour and a half later in my hotel bed fully functional but totally unaware of the fact that I had lost almost two hours of my life. Even in a sport as brutal as MMA, I cannot be more adamant about the seriousness of head trauma after a flash knockout.

I believe that the officiating of MMA matches has come a long since the inception of the sport, and referees are far more trained and knowledgeable about injury and its effects today than at anytime in history. I believe they’re in the ring, and that we should let them do their jobs. However, they must realize a knockout of any kind is a knockout. That’s it. The fighter goes home to train and live and fight another day.

I counted atleast 3 fighters that wont ever step into a UFC fight again last night. Kalib Starnes pretty much lost his man card for good. That was the most embarressing thing i've ever seen in the UFC. I dont think i can recall any judges score card reading out as a30-24 victory. It was like Starnes went in and literally threw the fight for some reason. I was stunned. They scored it 10-8 10-8 10-8 and he didnt even have points taken from him. ROFL My god. Dana White may have had Starnes assasinated after that fight. That or Starnes should be officially on suicide watch. I'm fat and overweight and if you told me i could get in and fight Nate Quarry, i'd actually think i had a legit chance. The guy fights like he has a invisible back brace on and Starnes is literally running away from him. Quarry walks like he's Robocop and throws punches similar to the Khali Chop, and Starnes is running from him. What in the fuck was that shit. Something is up with that. I was floored by that trash.

Travis Lutter is a peice of fucking shit imo. The biggest fight in his life against Silva and he didnt make weight, then the second biggest fight in his life ( perhaps the biggest considering the Silva debacle ) and he comes in out of shape and gasses after the first round. UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE THIS GUY. He did manage a sick arm bar. Too bad he had no wrist control or he may have escaped with an unimaginable win. This guy is a fucking joke. To come in out of shape after all the fucking shit he took for missing weight in the Silva fight? Before this fight, Lutter was arguably the most hated guy in MMA because of the Silva fight. Now...Well like i said, i dont see Dana White letting this guy back in the ring ever. Especially now with Bisping looking really good at 185. Fuck Travis Lutter.

As for McArthy. He was pretty much a jobber anyways coming into the fight against Bisping. I guess someone forgot to tell him that. I was kinda hoping Bisping would land a kick to his jaw right as he stuck his tongue out. Leave his fucking tongue laying on the ground. But that didnt happen. Still Bisping kicked the shit out of him and all the guy could do was make stupid faces and shit. That guy probably wont ever fight for UFC again either.

lol seriously

Blue Demon 04-20-2008 11:43 AM

^^ that was amazing.

Kris P Lettus 04-20-2008 12:39 PM

Kalib was a douche on the show and still is a douche..

Vastardikai 04-20-2008 02:07 PM

It wasn't so bad that Quarry did the Screech attack, which was ROFLMAO funny. What made it so sad was that Kalib ran away from it. And Kalib has no right to be pissed off, in my opinion, especially from the "running man." You can't bitch and moan like a little pussy when you went to the Eddie Sanchez school of fighting (see Sanchez-Cro Cop, Eddie was running for his life.). The fans were shitting on the fight, as they should have. But Quarry clearly wasn't to blame.

And, as far as McCarthy goes, he blocked most of Bisping's onslaught. Maybe a little too well, because of the knees that hit him square in the wrist. He probably broke his arm. Bisping vs. Franklin or Bisping vs. Silva would be interresting, but he stands a better chance against Franklin.

I don't want Matt Serra's ribs right now. I was rooting for GSP, my buddy for Serra. We saw Rush come out and I said "He looks ready." my buddy grudgingly agreed. When he's on, GSP is unstoppable. I wouldn't mind seeing GSP-Serra III, especially if it's in New York.

Travis Lutter is a bitch. He was over-weight for Silva, blown up for Franklin. Show some god damned respect for the sport. Though major props to Rich for that God-level armbar escape.

For Broadcasting purposes, Kenny Florian > Joe Rogan.

Also, the Canadian fans are AWESOME!

Kris P Lettus 04-20-2008 02:17 PM

Dunno about that whole KenFlo>Roggan thing..

But, LMFAO @ Quarry saying "how did you go from getting punched in the face to interviewing people?? I want that job.." to Kenny..

The armbar escape was impressive in that, he kept his head and rolled through it twice. But if it was anyone other then Lutter, Franklin would have had a broken arm and tapped. Lutter just let go of his wrist. For no reason.

no look at the fight again... lutter had his leg crossed over the arm and couldnt anchor the body down so franklin could bridge out over his own head. Lutter would have had it if he had his leg over the chest but he wouldnt have been able to get the armbar at all though if he didnt tuck the leg so whatever.
