They are gunna win it today. I've never been so jacked for the Canucks as I am this year. However I think the Malhotra injury will hurt them come round 3-4 and I don't think they will win the Cup.

OPTIMUS RRRRRRREIM!

See Montreal, that's how you beat the Bruins in Boston. Maybe if they ever grow some balls, they could do it to.

OOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPTTTTTTIIIIIMMMMMUUUUUUUUSSSS RRRRRRRRRRRRRREIM!

Oh, and Jack Edwards has got to be the worst play by play man in hockey. Fuck is he ever painful to listen to.

And they just won their first President's Trophy in franchise history.

Veteran NHL referee Bill McCreary will officiate his final NHL regular season on Saturday.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=557936

Quote:

Regarded as one of the best ever to officiate the game, McCreary holds the League records for most playoff games (297) and most Stanley Cup Final games (44) refereed. He will finish his career second on the NHL's all-time games-refereed list. The native of Guelph, Ontario, is one of only four referees to reach the 1,500 games mark -- a feat McCreary accomplished on Feb. 16, 2008.
I remember that he brought the Stanley Cup to my school when I was in Grade 8 after the Nordiques won the cup. During the lockout, he did work in home renovations here around town.

Another in the long line of top NHL officials to come out of Guelph. On that note, Andy VanHellamond was elected to city council during the latest municipal election back in the fall. :y:

Nordiques won the cup.

I must have missed that one.

Gertner 04-02-2011 01:53 PM

Leafs vs Sens tonight. Another must win. Kinda worried because Craig Anderson has been tough.

Looking forward to another fight between Jay Rosehill and Francis Lessard. Their last tilt was a fight of the year candidate.

Emperor Smeat 04-02-2011 04:29 PM

:D
Thrashers 2-3 Bruins, Bruins win the division.

El Fangel 04-02-2011 10:39 PM

PRICE!

El Fangel 04-02-2011 10:42 PM

Toronto up by 2 with a min left. They are looking good lately.

The Nordiques? The Nords didn't win until they became the Avalanche.

Been gone for a week...need to catch up on this topic, gonna bring some old shit up.

KleptoKlown 04-03-2011 03:00 AM

speaking of old shit...man did the nucks ever look like pensioners vs the oil tonight.

oh well...exactly what they needed. look for the nucks to spank the oil come Tuesday. I'd rather them put up a stinker vs the worst team than the hawk or whoever else they will see in the playoffs

and what about Dallas? Wow talk about the worst time to be slumping. I blame Crawford. He somehow manages to bring out the worst of a team when the best is needed the most. Except for the last 60 seconds, the Stars showed no motivation at all. Talk about missing Modano. Vigneault > Crawford...despite Crawford's cup.

KleptoKlown 04-03-2011 03:09 AM

you guys know about myp2p.eu ?

not always the best quality, but lots of live games

Savard should retire. He is a smaller version of Lindros. There are more important things than hockey.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hamhius retire in the next year or two either. Such a shame...he's still a kid. Hope the nucks land Weber in the offseason, otherwise, we have to trade Schinder or Hodgson for more D depth.

For once the Toronto media may be onto something. Brad Richards is a free agent in the offseason...and Burke is going to push hard.

He would be a perfect fit...but I am not convinced Richards wants to be a Leaf. TB and Dallas are hardly hockey markets. Richards has made millions while keeping relatively private. He can kiss his private life goodbye if he signs with the Leafs. Richards has always struck me as a private guy, and he already has a cup. He's going to make millions no matter where he goes. Up to him if he wants the added pressures of playing in the Leafs market.

Thats what makes the Sabres so dangerous in the playoffs. Either Buff/Boston or Philly/Pits in the East finals will be insanely exciting.

You got a link to that??

Sadly, it's players like Malholtra that are the difference that win the cup...or lose it.

Raymond is being moved to 3rd line centre...Raymond, Hanson(one of thee most underrated guys in the NHL...) and Torres. That sounds more like a scoring line than a shut down line.

He grew up in P.E.I so you may be on to something, but Richards was drafted by Tampa and dealt to Dallas so he's kind of a wild card. It depends. If he were to sign with Toronto and help turn Toronto into a playoff team Richards would own that city.

I've always thought that Dallas was playing over their head. Two stats about Dallas that have concerned me over the year. They are below average on face offs and penalty killing. The combination of the two is a recipe for disaster.

Richards has stated, in a Hockey News interview I believe, that he wished to stay in Dallas with Neal and Eriksson (obviously things were working) but with the Neal trade. I wouldnt be so sure anymore. Maybe if Benn takes Neals place but I could see him traded and no other team is in need of a top center as bad as Toronto then perhaps maybe Calgary and Columbus.

Bonus points for McCormick clearing the front of the net and killing two canes.

Gertner 04-04-2011 01:58 PM

lol Rick's call on that save is awesome. I wish Buffalo still had a heavy like Rob Ray, because I LOVE when Rick flips out during fights.

YEah. We had shit Andrew Peters and no McCormick who really isnt a great fighter. But he answers the bell when he needs to so I really like him. He is all Hustle.

Blitz 04-05-2011 02:11 AM

Well, Bruins end the Leafs' season by losing. W2G Boston.

Lara Emily 04-05-2011 03:35 AM

The Leafs magic number for missing the playoffs is 1, 1 point lost or 1 point gained by Buffalo

El Fangel 04-05-2011 05:16 AM

Yeah, they dont have a shot in hell anymore but that is the closest they have come in recent years.

McCormick at least fights quite a bit, and yeah, Peters was pretty bad.

El Fangel 04-05-2011 05:44 PM

Here is a question, who are the best two fighters in the NHL right now. I dont mean wins or total fights I mean best to watch.

Orr, Carcillo, Downie, Bissonette come to mind for me.

Hanso Amore 04-05-2011 06:03 PM

I dunno - I dont see many people handling Lucic, though he isnt your typical goon.

El Fangel 04-05-2011 06:04 PM

And, Go Go Gertner rant.

They were one New York Islander loss away from making the playoffs in 06-07
That game was hilarious, the Devils played their back up (which pissed off Leaf Fans) then with the Isles up by 1 John Madden scored at 20:00 of the third period, it was literally like a tenth of a second left, giving the Leafs fans renewed hope and then the Isles went and won it in a shootout and eliminated the Leafs. Great stuff
