Seahawks win, they host the Saints in the playoffs..

If the Seahawks lose, they pick 8th in the draft..

lmfao

Ermaximus 01-02-2011 11:30 PM

Guess I'm rooting for the Steelers in the playoffs now. Stupid fucking Jags defense laid down today.

James Steele 01-02-2011 11:41 PM

Do the Rams know you have to actually catch the football when it hits your hands? I haven't seen the Rams play much this year, but Bradford is really accurate. Wish the Rams would play with some balls though.

James Steele 01-02-2011 11:44 PM

CATCH THE GOD DAMN FOOTBALL YOU PIECES OF SHIT!!

Supreme Olajuwon 01-02-2011 11:56 PM

James Steele 01-03-2011 12:27 AM

How can the Rams have so many shitty OL and WRs when they have had so many prime draft picks?

Corndad 01-03-2011 12:28 AM

Worst. Playoff. Team. Ever.

D Mac 01-03-2011 12:29 AM

Wow losing record winning a division and hosting a playoff game. Unreal.

D Mac 01-03-2011 12:30 AM

Well Bradford got his rookie season under his belt. He'll be back and better.

Evil Vito 01-03-2011 02:16 AM

Honestly, I don't see any reason why anybody who isn't a Saints, Rams, Cardinals, or 49ers fan would root against the Seahawks. There's virtually no chance that they win anyway, so if anything it'd just be a massive upset that might never be seen again.

For next week's games, I'm rooting for:

-Seahawks over Saints (just for the lolz, nothing against the Saints who should win easily)
-Colts over Jets (Jets have become easier to dislike lately)
-Ravens over Chiefs (complete toss up. I'd be just fine with the Chiefs winning but the Ravens have the best chance at knocking off New England)
-Packers over Eagles (the only one I'm 100% supportive/caring about the team winning)

Evil Vito 01-03-2011 02:19 AM

Oh yeah, and inevitably people are going to say that a team has no business hosting a playoff game if the Wild Card has a better record. Fuck that. The system is fine as it is. If you win the division, you get a home playoff game. If you get rid of that you may as well just get rid of divisions altogether and take the 6 best teams per league.

If you can't beat a shitty team on the road you have no business advancing anyway. It doesn't need fixing.

OssMan 01-03-2011 03:20 AM

The only thing that really needs to be changed is who gets to host playoff games. The seedings should be determined by record.

D Mac 01-03-2011 04:47 AM

Go Chiefs

Nervous Ferret 01-03-2011 04:49 AM

Was hoping the Jets would get to play the gay Chiefs in the first round. Chiefs are secretively really good methinks, but they are totally destined to lose in the first round this year.

ClockShot 01-03-2011 08:18 AM

For those of you looking ahead to the future, here's what the 2011 draft order is looking like as of right now. It could change around during and after playoffs.

 1. Carolina (2-14)
 2. Denver (4-12)
 3. Buffalo (4-12)
 4. Cincinnati (4-12)
 5. Arizona (5-11)
 6. Cleveland (5-11)
 7. San Francisco (6-10)
 8. Tennessee (6-10)
 9. Dallas (6-10)
 10. Washington (6-10)
 11. Houston (6-10)
 12. Minnesota (6-10)
 13. Detroit (6-10)
 14. St. Louis (7-9)
 15. Miami (7-9)
 16. Jacksonville (8-8)
 17. New England - from Oakland (8-8)
 18. San Diego (9-7)
 19. New York Giants (10-6)
 20. Tampa Bay (10-6)
 21. Seattle* (7-9)
 22. Kansas City* (10-6)
 23. Indianapolis* (10-6)
 24. Philadelphia* (10-6)
 25. Green Bay* (10-6)

 29. Chicago* (11-5)
 30. Pittsburgh* (12-4)
 31. Atlanta* (13-3)

I still see nothing wrong with the system as is. Winning the division should get you a home playoff game no matter what. If the wild card team is any good they should have no trouble beating the inferior division rival on the road (as the Saints will do on Sunday).

Although, the idea of scrapping divisions and taking the 6 best teams from each conference is slightly intriguing. The schedule would consist of 15 games against your fellow conference members, and 1 game against an opponent from the other conference which is based on the previous year's standings (ie: the 2011 season would feature a Pats/Falcons game, a Steelers/Bears game, etc.) - pretty much the only way to ensure than an "underserving" team doesn't sneak in.

ClockShot 01-03-2011 03:34 PM

Denver
Cleveland
Carolina
San Francisco
Dallas
Minnesota

With the exception of Dallas and Minnesota pretty much keeping Jason Garrett and Leslie Fraiser, who's gonna be head coaches of these teams next year? I know everybody is gonna make a run a Jim Harbaugh, but I think he's waiting to see if RichRod gets axed at Michigan.

Ermaximus 01-03-2011 03:50 PM

Harbaugh to Denver.
Gruden to Cleveland.
Del Rio to the nearest garbage can on the street corner.

Crimson 01-03-2011 03:55 PM

You think Harbaugh would take Michigan over an NFL gig? He's still young so it can happen, but hard to see him pass up the NFL ,especially if teams are going hard for him.

I wouldn't mind if they adjusted the playoffs so the better record gets homefield . As long as the division winner still gets the same seeding as a reward. Like if they went by pure records this year it would be

6)Seattle @ 3)New Orleans
5)Greenbay @ 4)Philly....oh wait it'd be the same thing this year excpet of who they'd play in the second round. So if the Saints and Eagles won instead of NO@ ATL and PHI@CHI ,it would be NO@CHI and PHI@ATL.

But if you give them the same seeding but just give the better record the homefield then it's the same as now just with the Saints being at home. Meh nothing dramatic either way I suppose

I think Goff has stepped in nicely, solid, but not spectacular. Boley isn't too bad in his own right. The other spot is a weakness.

The Giants need to get back to the days of having a stout linebacker group. I understand the philosophy by drafting defensive lineman, but they really need to grab stud linebacker. If they don't do that, they absolutely need to draft an offensive lineman. It isn't a "sexy" pick, and even though the unit played well through injury this year, they need to get younger on the offensive line.

DrA 01-03-2011 04:21 PM

It's always been mathematically possible for a 7-9 or worse team to make the playoffs. I don't know why it is so urgent to change the divisions around now that it finally happened.

Evil Vito 01-03-2011 05:36 PM

I can actually see a 5 seed hosting a 6 seed (Green Bay @ New Orleans) in the NFC Title game this year. I'm almost certain the Bears will be taking an exit in their first game, and the Packers going over the Falcons wouldn't surprise me either.

In fact, may as well make my predictions:

Wild Card Weekend:
NFC
Saints over Seahawks
Packers over Eagles

AFC
Colts over Jets
Ravens over Chiefs

Divisional:
NFC
Saints over Bears
Packers over Falcons

AFC
Patriots over Ravens
Steelers over Colts

Conference:
NFC
Saints over Packers

AFC
Patriots over Steelers

Super Bowl 45:
Patriots over Saints

Yeah, the NFL is cyclical anyway. Some divisions are going to be shit, and some are going to be superior. It just works out that way.

Because the NFL is a reactive organization and won't change anything until it causes a problem. A bunch of people getting hit in the head? OK, helmet to helmet hits are now illegal. They won't change the bullshit challenge rule until a ref blows 4 calls against one team in a game and that team gets fucked over by not being able to challenge the fourth one.

NEW YORK -- Two massage therapists say in a lawsuit that complaining about sexually suggestive text messages from Brett Favre cost them their part-time jobs with the New York Jets.

Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole sued the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, the Jets and a Jets massage coordinator Monday in a Manhattan court. The lawsuit comes days after the NFL fined Favre $50,000 for not being candid in an investigation into allegations that he sent lewd text messages and photos to a Jets game hostess.

Favre's agent didn't immediately return a telephone call. The Jets declined to comment.

The lawsuit says Favre sent a third, unidentified massage therapist a 2008 text message asking whether she and Scavo "want to get together" and suggesting he had "bad intentions."

Innovator 01-04-2011 03:03 PM

Giants potential schedule is set:

HOME: Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles, Packers, Rams, Seahawks, Bills, Dolphins

AWAY: Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles, Jets, Cardinals, 49ers, Saints, Patriots

Ermaximus 01-04-2011 03:07 PM

I know who the Jags play next year, I just don't know which games are where, but we've got a rough schedule next year.

Titans twice, Colts twice, Texans twice, Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Saints, Falcons, Bucs, Panthers, Jets, and Chargers.

parkmania 01-04-2011 03:13 PM

AFC North plays the NFC West.

Steelers schedule is:
Home: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tennessee, New England, St. Louis, Seattle
Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Arizona, San Francisco

Going 5-1 in the division (assume a sweep of CLE, a split with either BAL or CIN and a sweep of the other) means the record next year should be near 12-4 again.

And going back to Assman's league leaders post, didn't Ed Reed miss like the first 6-7 games of the year on the PUP list and he still winds up leading the league in INT.

and
Jacksonville(W)/Tennessee(W)/St Louis(W)/Seattle(W)/SD(?) on the road.

Im calling 14-2 for the Ravens next year. Only 2 games Im worried about outside of the Steelers are the Colts/Chargers. Split that and split the 2 vs the Steelers.

Fucking hell, calling your team's wins for next season already.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-05-2011 09:30 AM

Yeah but look at that schedule. It's very possible that every AFC North team could win at least 10 games next year, even the Bengals and Browns.

Team Sheep 01-05-2011 09:33 AM

According to Droford the Ravens win the Super Bowl every year anyway.

Evil Vito 01-05-2011 10:28 AM

For winning a Yahoo league, I get to be in "The League of Champions" - basically every week of the playoffs I pick a QB, RB, two WR, TE, K, and DEF. The top 60 teams each week get a $100 Visa gift card, the top accumulated points after the Super Bowl gets $3,000 cash.

The catch is, you can't use a player more than once. So predictions play a huge role in it and you're almost encouraged to pick players you think will lose. For instance, if you think the Pats and Saints will be in the SB (as I do), you need to make sure you save either Brady or Brees to use that week.

My Wild Card weekend team is:

QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Shonn Greene
WR: Dwayne Bowe and DeSean Jackson
TE: Jacob Tamme
K: David Akers
DEF: Saints

Toughest call was easily QB. I had Vick initially as I think the Packers will win, but I think Rodgers is a safer bet. I figure if Vick plays great and gets the Eagles through, he'll be an option later on. If not, I'll still have Brady, Brees, hopefully Peyton, and others to pick from later. Saving Jennings though so hopefully he won't go to waste.

Think the Colts and Saints will both win but the pickings were slim this week and there are enough good TEs and DEFs to slot in later on.

I know this is going to be random, but:

The 1998 Minnesota Vikings should've fucking went to the SuperBowl. I will always be an Eagles fan first, but the Vikings are my 2nd favorite team. Wtf, the best offensive season in the NFL up to that point, Big 3 Offense, John Randle still in the league...:nono:

Still cannot believe this shit happened..That was Randall's year to finally win a ring with concentration to the offense in his career, Carter's time for being one of the top 5 wide receivers of all time, and Moss's immediate impact on the NFL and to potential be the "Michael Jordan" of the NFL...got dammit..

Kris P Lettus 01-05-2011 03:43 PM

Johnny Vegas 01-05-2011 03:50 PM

lol i accidentally stumbled upon the game when i typed in "Randy Moss Highlights" on YouTube. Man, this game pisses me off, not only because we were supposed to win, but the Falcons got gangbanged in the SuperBowl. Would've been a waaaay better SuperBowl, full of stars and hype of offenses of the two teams (DEN & MIN)

Boomer 01-05-2011 04:05 PM

Atlanta was 14-2 that year, so its not like they were complete pushovers. I agree it would have been a more exciting Superbowl though. That Falcons team didn't really have anybody really worth watching (Morten Andersen!).

Fucking New England on the Road again...what the hell..By my absurdly early calculations, the Ravens should go 6-2 at Home (New Orleans and either Cincy or Pittsburgh for the losses) and 5-3/6-2 on the Road (combo of Pittsburgh or Cincy and New England for the losses)

Ravens went 7-1 at home, lost to Pittsburgh. They went 5-3 on the road and lost to Atlanta, Cincy and New England.

So essentially the only 2 games I got wrong were the New Orleans game which they won and the Atlanta game which they lost.
Had them losing to Cincy and Pittsburgh.
