Rampage is usually very skippable and formulaic.
I was expecting this to happen when it started given it’s over-saturation from AEW, exactly what happened with WWE. Dynamite is usually really enjoyable 9 times out of 10. But 3 hours of wrestling per week is too much. I think 1 and a half hours is the sweet spot. I usually torrent dynamite so get it without adverts which usually comes in about an 1h45 mins which is okay. |
Rampage always had that stink of Thunder. It is too much content. That detracts from everything you do. And the show is predictable and formulaic, as you said. Predictable doesn’t have to be bad, but when you’re advertising Bryan Danielson vs. Pineapple Pete or whatever, there is just no drama.

My interest in ROH has faded. This guy can’t do it.

I wouldn’t mind the odd segment in it to change things up though. Although as a WCW watcher Thunder segments used to infuriate me because I didn’t get Thunder in NZ. |
I'm a fan of Rampage because weekly rasslin shows should be an hour. Just get right to the stuff.

Can’t even hit a million WrestleMania week. Ouch.

Quote:

Ok LAST WEEK was the last time they ever hit a million.

Almost a million is another great number.

|
2.1 million viewers for Raw. That’s only 1.2 million more than AEW this past week. Fucking losers.
|
989,000 for Dynamite
Can't even capitalize on it being Wrestlemania season R.I.P |

IT does seem like AEW viewership has dipped since the WAR IN UKRAINE? Is it true, yes it is... possibly because AEW smart fans are watching MSNBC and CNN now? Think on it, and when you do go ahead and slap your money on the table because you can bank on it.
|
Another strong number for Dynamite!

I wonder how Tony is going to spin losing 1/6th of his audience from last year next week. They have been eating off of that "look how we grew our audience from last year" after NXT moved for 52 weeks now. That is now over, CAN'T WAIT to hear how unopposed by NXT his awesome booking LOST 200,000 viewers from April 14th, 2021.
|
oh man - gotta go subscribe to his twitter because I CAN"T WAITTTTTTT!!!!!!!

Tony is gonna ruin it. I am not able to support someone like this guy, he's pathetic.
|
Agreed. Very embarrassing that a money mark nerd with Asperger’s books a better weekly wrestling show than Vince McMahon.
|
Not true. Vince gets better ratings, therefore it's better.
|
True.
|
Vince books NXT now doesn’t he?
:o |
In all seriousness if ratings directly reflected quality, Raw would have somehow managed to hit 0 viewers at some point. It is shockingly bad television.
|
That's just opinion. Ratings are facts. Therefore Raw and Smackdown are the two best wrestling shows on t.v.
|
You’re forgetting the fact that my opinion matters 3 million times more than the goobers who watch and enjoy bad television.
|
Guaranteed the majority of the audience who watches and enjoys Raw nowadays does so while eating TV dinners and boogers.
I only do one of those things. |
The thing is, independent studies have shown that most of Raw and SmackDown’s audience is bots.

Obviously that’s the 25% that are real (barely functioning) people.

Sorry again for my ignorance, but who’s complaining about the WWE fans?
|
AEW needs WWE so bad. They need its shadow to play in. They need something to throw rocks at. They need a culture to respond to. And if the WWE somehow gets better than it currently is, AEW is dead. It’s not notably different enough to thrive even now.

Tony totally hid this version of himself in the shadows for a while. I really don't like it.

Lol at the idea that people who don’t like AEW are robots. The drones are the ones watching this boring shit.

It’s unfortunate that most wrestling fans are bots programmed to not watch AEW.

What the fuck is a “duballo”? Is it supposed to be a portmanteau of “dub” for “AEDub” and “juggalo”? I really dislike Reddit so f you xrod for polluting TPDub with its stink.

I’ve definitely noticed AEW fans who ask questions like that. “What do we think about this?” They’re looking for meaning and to belong. It’s human. But it’s no use pretending this doesn’t exist.

Damn. 1.1 million people tuned out of WWE that night when Roman’s special came on? OUCH!
|
Yeah that’s a tough look.
|
That WrestleMania week bump ain’t gonna last them forever.
|
WWE spent at least $1 Million on Cody's Pyro tonight. 1 million, that of course being a number of viewers Dynamite does not get in it's ratings...

Oh wow @ a Roman Reigns documentary doing better then Rampage.

The ratings discussions are great. The Meltzer side take the numbers too literally, but it’s more interesting than the actual wrestling.
|
It really isn't great. I find wrestling fans like to talk about ratings to sound smart. Typically, it has the opposite effect. The fuck does it even matter? As long as my fave shows aren't getting canceled, I don't fucking care about the ratings.
|
Will never get why rasslin fans seem to care so much about ratings. If I enjoy the show, I'll watch. If I don't, I won't. I have no stake in "the numbers" (as I'm sure most fans do) so it's pointless to drone on about it.

I don't hate Meltzer because I appreciate his love of wrestling. But hearing him discuss ratings and demos literally saps all the life out of me. It honestly sounds like he does it to legitimize himself. And as we've discussed (and he's acknowledged), the promoters will use the ratings to tell whatever story they wish. It's basically "juking the stats."
He wants to add the "business" element to his journalistic pursuits. And much like wrestling fans, he just sounds like a blithering moron when he talks about the numbers. Moreover, just like the promoters, he uses them to tell the story he wants. We'd all be better off looking at the numbers at a distance and talking about what's happening on-screen, as fans of most television do. |
lol I wonder if fans of How I met Your Mother go to Big Bang Theory forums and argue about key demos?

It’s a stat that doesn’t read well, sure. Put up against April-May 2021 it beats their rating 10 out of the next 13 weeks. I think this was the period they were moved for a few weeks, just makes the comparison difficult.

Neither the scope nor the growth of this company is impressive.

SmackDown: 2.142 million viewers
Rampage: 482k AEW got less than a quarter of SmackDown’s audience. |
