Droford 06-06-2010 01:56 AM

Buck Rogers in 1980 took over as manager of the Brewers 15-2 and that was the worst loss by a team in their manager's debut. Juan Samuel lost 11-0 in his debut..

I guess this doesn't count Dave Trembley when he lost 30-3 to the Rangers on the same day the Os announced that they removed the "interim" tag and made him the permanent manager..

OssMan 06-06-2010 02:04 AM

Watching the Orioles play the Red Sox at home is so sad. It is so disgraceful how many Red Sox fans filled up that stadium. I seriously wanted to cry at the end of this game.

Was that the game where the closer for the Rangers actually ended up with a save due to some weird loop-hole in the rule?

Orioles main problem is their bullpen and part of their starting pitching since they are getting hits and scoring (although not as much this year) but their bullpen ends up like the Rangers and kills most of their potential wins.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-06-2010 02:27 AM

Buck Rogers in the 24th and a half century.

Jeritron 06-06-2010 06:29 PM

Big day for Droford

Mets come back from a 5-run deficit to sweep the Marlins. Sweet.

Didn't see the game though, went to go see the Binghamton Mets (Mets' AA team) play the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins' AA team). Reese Havens looks really good, possibly the 2B in 2012 (or even 2011 depending on what happens to Castillo). Kirk Nieuwenhuis also was pretty impressive.

Evil Vito 06-06-2010 06:58 PM

Assuming he doesn't start the game before, I think we can pencil Ubaldo in as the NL Starting Pitcher right now.

DaveWadding 06-06-2010 07:07 PM

U - baldo can't touch this.

DaveWadding 06-06-2010 07:08 PM

even the 2 runs he gave up today were kind of a fluke. Conor was just sitting on a changeup and it was long gone.

Skippord 06-06-2010 07:20 PM

I don't think Ubaldo should have pitched that inning

Boomer 06-06-2010 07:50 PM

Great Dodgers Braves series. Would love to see a playoff series as tense as all these games.

I didnt hear but the last two innings cause I went to a minor league baseball game, which the Os affiliate won 4-3.

Was really happy to hear the Os win on the way home though.

Skippord 06-06-2010 11:54 PM

this Buehrle-meter stuff on baseball tonight is really annoying

ClockShot 06-07-2010 07:56 AM

So is anybody even remotely interested in the draft today?

Evil Vito 06-07-2010 09:29 AM

You know, thinking about it...Ubaldo, Halladay, Lincecum, Wainwright, Johnson, Pelfrey, Broxton, Marmol

If all of those guys are healthy and available, the NL may actually win this year :o

Problem is, you aren't allowed to pitch in the game if you start the Sunday beforehand. Watch like half of those guys end up pitching that last day and become ineligible for participation.

Never been too interested in the MLB draft because it's such a crap shoot and most players won't be heard from ever again. And the ones that do make it don't show up for years.

Unless you're super sexy like Mike Leake.

Evil Vito 06-07-2010 12:53 PM

Mets will be going SP in the draft I'm sure, think there is a guy from UNC they are looking at, name escapes me. There are some solid bats coming up through the system now but they are still strapped for starting pitching prospects.

People keep calling into WFAN saying the Mets need to push hard for Cliff Lee. But I dunno. That move may very well put them into contention right through the end of the season, but it'd mean parting with most of the top prospects in the organization, including Jenrry Mejia. The system seems like it's only just now being re-stocked, so I can't see it being worthwhile especially since Lee has said numerous times that he will test the free agent market no matter what, and the Mets won't outbid a lot of the teams trying for him. If Lee agreed to an extension I'd say go for it, but shit like that doesn't happen in mid-season.

I mean look at the Brewers. Hindsight is 20/20 and all but I'm sure given how their '08 postseason went they would have rather not made the Sabathia deal. And even then, there was a more logical case for the Brewers making the trade since it'd been like 20 years between playoff appearances as opposed to 4 for the Mets.

Innovator 06-07-2010 01:24 PM

I loved a couple weeks ago when a Met fan called up saying YES is biased towards the Yankees

That is all.

There's a hillarious Mastercard commercial to be made about this Perfect Game somewhere

I dunno about that. They got to the playoffs and LaPorta's been pretty terrible for the Indians. They were a sinking ship anyway so at least they got a nice run to the playoffs first.

True. Plus without looking, weren't LaPorta's 2 main positions LF and 1B? ie: the only two places the Brewers had no vacancies

Loose Cannon 06-07-2010 04:13 PM

Innovator 06-07-2010 04:20 PM

Jesus Montero is supposed to be good. Catcher.

Loose Cannon 06-07-2010 04:21 PM

3B/2B Zack Cox
C/SS Justin O'Conner
OF Bryce Bentz
RHP Matt Harvey

DaveWadding 06-07-2010 07:08 PM

Peter Gammons just called Matt Wieters retarded.

Watching the draft..the Os are supposed to take Machado who is a good SS and they dont have any decent SS in the entire organization.

DaveWadding 06-07-2010 07:20 PM

Major League Baseball Network Analyst Peter Gammons just called Baltimore Orioles catcher Matthew Wieters retarded.

no he didn't, he said his growth has been retarded by the team because they won't let him call games.

Yeah, Monstero is really up there on the list. Nova as well. Also you'll keep an eye on the guys who have seen big league action already. Melancon, Alba, Golson, Sanchez, Miranda, and Boone Logan sucks. If he comes out of the bullpen, boo him.

ClockShot 06-07-2010 07:44 PM

Brew Crew release Jeff Suppan.
