Yeah, there really isn't much to look out for in terms of prospects in AAA. Montero is obviously the big one. McAllister and Nova (starting pitchers) are the only other bigger ones. Then there's border-line guys and relievers and stuff.

Evil Vito 06-07-2010 09:02 PM

Note sure how I feel about Harvey. Has potential obviously, but seeing his delivery he looks exactly like John Maine. Chris Sale was probably the safer bet, but the Mets are afraid to go over slot.

ClockShot 06-07-2010 09:57 PM

Jim Joyce dodges another bullet.

Skippord 06-07-2010 10:07 PM

literally?

ClockShot 06-07-2010 10:10 PM

Nah. Joyce is behind home plate at the phils/padres game and Hamels had a no hitter going through 6. A-Gon took care of that with a home run.

No worries for him now.

Skippord 06-07-2010 10:30 PM

so the Rockies drafted Clemson's starting quarterback

interesting

ClockShot 06-07-2010 11:01 PM

Yankees just drafted this High School SS from Upstate NY.

I guess they see the next Derek Jeter in him......

Nervous Ferret 06-07-2010 11:04 PM

Kyle Parker!!! :wavesad: Love that guy. As "sick" as he was last year at QB I am pretty sure he won't pass up the $1 million+ signing bonus he will get

Emperor Smeat 06-07-2010 11:20 PM

MLB draft is the only draft out of the main leagues that I barely ever get interested in following. I understand why they have it during the middle of the season since MLB season is very long but they could do better by waiting until after college baseball finishes its playoffs.

At the same time all the draft picks except the occasional "big" name pick ends up waiting a few years in the minors leagues although to be fair NHL is sort of similar with its draft picks most of the time.

RP 06-08-2010 01:36 AM

Thanks for Carlos Silva Seattle! Hows Milton Bradley working out??//?//?

OssMan 06-08-2010 03:47 AM

What makes you say that? If you mean the next shortstop after Derek Jeter then yeah maybe. The kid is only 17 he could take the Shortstop role when he's like 20 or 21. But, the way you say it it almost seems like the Yankees are thinking that this Culven guy will be as great as Jeter as a shortstop. I never read anything that says they did. I did read that Culven's favorite player is Derek Jeter.

But, I don't think I have ever read anything about them seeing another Derek Jeter in him. Other then the fact that he might play shortstop and come from the minors like him and be good for the Yankees when/if he gets called up to the big leagues.

I don't think there will be another DJ. At best this kid will be a good shortstop and work out good on our team 3-4 maybe 5 years from now.

Would Romine be under the Borderline stuff? I had always thought Romine was a good prospect. All though he might be in Double AA for all I know.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2010 08:58 AM

Predict Strasburg's line

5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 113 million inflated expectations

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2010 09:05 AM

Also just a head's up for you guys but I'm gonna probably be really pissy about this Strasburg hype cause ESPN is already talking about how Strasburg will be battling Jason Heyward as the only two candidates for rookie of the year. Fuck you, ESPN.

Skippord 06-08-2010 09:23 AM

I'm already pretty upset about ESPN saying that as soon as Strasburg comes up he'll be the best pitcher in baseball.

Innovator 06-08-2010 10:11 AM

CG, 2 H, 3 BB, 25 K

Skippord 06-08-2010 10:14 AM

I think you're being a bit generous with the 2 hits

Innovator 06-08-2010 10:16 AM

What was I thinking

Anything less than a no hitter is a failure, according to ESPN

Skippord 06-08-2010 10:25 AM

ESPN is already naming him the winner of the Cy Young and the NL's starter

Most of the Yankee fan sites, Baseball America, and KLaw all thought we were getting Christian Yellich. Marlins took him before us and the next best thing was Castellanos (sp?.)

Keep in mind Damon Oppenheimer the Yankees Scouting Director was calling the shots. Cashman or Hal Steinbrenner didn't have a real say in it.

I guess what I'm saying is, nobody saw this coming. So we're all kinda scratching our heads right now.

OssMan 06-08-2010 01:11 PM

Strasburg definitely not going longer than 5 IP. Might try and go to the game tonight. Tickets are mad expensive but supposedly they should be cheaper right before the game. Worth a try

Nervous Ferret 06-08-2010 03:24 PM

Strasburg 6.1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 R (unearned), 4Ks

Triple Naitch 06-08-2010 03:27 PM

5.2 6 hits 0 ER 7Ks

Skippord 06-08-2010 04:59 PM

ESPN has a countdown timer

MVP 06-08-2010 05:22 PM

5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 6 K

Last I heard it's standing room only.

McLegend 06-08-2010 06:00 PM

He's going to be lights out tonight.

7IP 10Ks 1 ER, and 100 pitches.

Skippord 06-08-2010 06:08 PM

I doubt they let him throw a hundred pitches

McLegend 06-08-2010 06:23 PM

Yeah probably.

Not going. Decided not to even try, don't feel like going. Fucking Nationals Park sold out, what is this. Haven't seen that since they opened the park or maybe opening day when a bunch of shithead Philly fans made up 75% of the crowd. It is going to be all Nationals "fans" too even though half the people there will be there just because it's a big deal.

DaveBrawl 06-08-2010 08:37 PM

I wonder how the Nats tickets for the series against the White Sox will be next weekend. My brother is a big fan of the Sox, but there is likely little chance we would be getting tickets if Strasburg pitches that Saturday which is the way it would appear just looking if he pitches every 5 games. It's a Fox game too so I bet it is him.

Nervous Ferret 06-08-2010 08:41 PM

good lord strasburg. K's for 6 of the first 9 outs. Still hasn't faced a major league team yet tho (lol the pirates)

Droford 06-08-2010 09:03 PM

Fuck the Grandyman

Evil Vito 06-08-2010 09:52 PM

God I wish Strasburg didn't play in the same division as the Mets :(

OssMan 06-08-2010 10:00 PM

I have never seen a Nationals strike out 14 before :(

FakeLaser 06-08-2010 10:08 PM

Filthy

Droford 06-08-2010 10:14 PM

I can hardly wait to see him set the MLB record for strikeouts vs the Orioles in a couple of weeks.
