By popular demand, we're renewing our annual PPV simulation series by simming the upcoming "No Mercy" pay-per-view for our readers using WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.
Here are some notes about the event: 1.) As it has been every year, the 45-minute PPV is Insider Only 2.) Jon Robinson and myself (Jeremy Dunham) will be providing voice-over commentary with trivia, tips, opinions, and more. 3.) We will be using the Xbox 360 version of the game this year (a first). 4.) To keep the simulation as accurate as possible, it will be filmed as CPU vs. CPU 5.) Due to the length of the video and the enormous size it creates, we will NOT be offering it in HD resolutions. However, we will have it in 640x360. 6.) We'll post this on IGN Insider Friday Night in celebration of Friday Night SmackDown. Match Lineup Main Event -- Booker T vs. Batista vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay Co-Feature -- Mr. Kennedy vs. The Undertaker Undercard Bout #1 -- Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Undercard Bout #2 -- Gregory Helms vs. Matt Hardy Hope you like it, and we'll see you again then. I wish I had Insider. |
Ahhhhhh that £16 a year subscription fee is once again paying off.

Smackdown Countdown: Chris Benoit
http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...4092856835.jpg
Video 1 - Entrance :'( Benoit :'( I hope he comes back soon. He comes out and pretty much walks down to the ring. He slides in the ring and salutes the crowd and does some warm up stretches. Video 2 - Fighting time Benoit vs Psicosis, Benoit reverses a ground grapple and takes down Psi, and then locks in an STF. Benoit and Psi reverse each others grapples but Benoit gets the upper hand and executes a small package for a two count. After a backbody drop, Benoit locks in an ARM BAR but Psicosis doesn't tap out. Video 3 - Fighting time II Benoit takes down Psi with a clothesline and heads up top for a headbutt, but Psi rolls out the way. I really hope we can turn off the camera effects for the finishers, its a pain in the arse. Benoit gets up and takes Psi down and locks in the crossface. Psi has no choice but to tap out, really quickly. Benoit then climbs the turnbuckle and celebrates, like he did when he won teh Rumble a couple of years back. http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...4092824117.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...4092825476.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...4092824914.jpg |
according to Gamingring, EVERY wrestler has 3 attires, that remains to be seen.
credit - gamingring's podcast |
That's an interesting note. That's a good change if it's true. I think it was Shut Your Mouth that was the last game that allowed you to pick different attires for everyone then they decide to change to Cena or HHH or some other character that was given a second costume slot.
|
Yeah, just listening to it now. I know Triple H has a suit and Cena has his camo jersey, and I'm guessing Kane's will be his masked attire, but I wonder what people like Umaga and Boogeyman will have.
As for what I'm doing first, I'm not really sure. I may jump into a Rumble or just mess around with some of people in exhibition. |
Hang on, if there's three costumes for every wrestler, and Trips has his suit and his wrestling gear, does that mean his third attire is DX-related or would it be what he wore at WM22?
|
Could be.
|
Jeremy Dunham edited somebody's post and said "There aren't three attires for every superstar.", so I wonder which ones do?
|
We did a follow up with THQ on the alternate attire question to clear things up, and here is the ruling.....
"Charles, This was an interpretation error on our end. Apologies. We only have three alternate attire options total in the game - not three for each SuperStar. The SuperStars with alternate attire are JBL, Triple H and Kane. THQ, Rep..." credit - Charles Shane, gamingring.com looks like they're going downhill this year. |

Smackdown Countdown: Mickie James
http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...5112309341.jpg
Video 1 - Entrance  Mickie  Mickie comes out jumping all over the place with the Womens title around her waist. She skips down to the ring and when she gets in she climbs the turnbuckle and salutes the crowd. Video 2 - Fighting time Mickie vs Candice, Candice punches Mickie square in the vagina. Mickie then rolls up Candice but is too close to the ropes for a count. JR keeps calling Mickie "him". Mickie fires off a kick to Candice's vagina, then punches it and attacks her knee. Mickie rakes Candice's eyes before taking her down with a snapmare. Video 3 - Fighting time II Mickie hits a swinging neckbreaker but Candice reverses her finisher. Mickie returns the favour by slapping the crap out of Candice and takes her down with a clothesline. Mickie then nails Candice with a MICK KICK, KING and gets the three count. She then celebrates. http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...5111624364.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...5111625130.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...5111625676.jpg |

Not bad, I probably still wont play GM Mode more than once though.

In our last hands-on with WWE Smackdown! Vs RAW 2007, we covered the known roster, the new analog control scheme and the tremendous variety of props and other implements of destruction you can use to obliterate your opponent. Our friends at THQ stopped by for another visit, but this time, they showered us with info on the newly redesigned Season mode, the General Manager mode and the Create-a-Wrestler mode (which you can witness first-hand if you click the Movies tab above).
There are three paths to the new Season mode: the Champion Path that stars you as the current belt-holder in a battle to fend off all comers, the Contender Path pits you against the champion in a quest to earn the belt and the General Path lets you focus on the storylines that run through a given season. Your main point for dealing with the intricacies of wrestler management will be your customizable Locker Room, where you can put up posters, paint the walls different colors and generally decorate it however you like. http://www.gamesradar.com/us//images...shot_large.jpg The Locker Room holds the nerve center for your entire bone-snapping operation: your computer. Here, you'll get emails, check out web articles and view cut-scenes that all basically center on the story - what alliances you've forged and what feuds you've ignited. All of these things conspire to feed you little bits of the story and accentuate the soap opera feel inspired by the emotional outbursts of your fellow wrestlers. At any moment, you could get the email that will result in a path-changing decision, and some wrestlers will take advantage of your rookie status to wrangle you into alliances that may not necessarily be within your best interest. We've heard that there are about 36 different storylines, so the broad range of tales should easily be able to accommodate ongoing, multi-season play sessions. The General Manager mode (which can be played multiplayer against other GMs) slots you into the overlord position, where you'll need to keep your motley crew of wrestlers entertaining the masses. Once you've got your roster of wrestlers assembled, you have to decide which of them will be "clean" and which will be "dirty" - this is important because wrestlers have to be on opposite sides of the clean/dirty fence in order to fire up rivalries. Speaking of rivalries, you're in charge of setting them up in a fashion that reminds us of when we were twelve and we'd put bees in a jar, shake up the jar and watch them fight to the death. Essentially, you'll select a storyline based on the quality of the writers (represented by a star rating) and then choose the key players in it along with the length of time you want it to go on. As time goes on, you'll see how your epics play out in the ring along with a healthy dose of cut-scenes and drama. http://www.gamesradar.com/us//images...shot_large.jpg You can also check out how your wrestlers are stacking up on the Power 25. Their rankings are reflected in addition to a number of other important factors to their success. Mic Skills are useful for squeezing the best show ratings out of rivalries and promos while Injury Frequency will clue you into how fragile some of these behemoths really are. If you're inclined to fire up your own customized wrestler, you can put them through the paces in the Velocity sub-shows in order to train them up before beating them down in title matches. There are also a variety of promos that you can run to boost the popularity of your wrestlers ranging from things as innocuously vulgar as bikini shows to out and out slander against rival General Managers or the wrestlers they manage. Throughout all of this, the game allows you to simulate any part of the process to prevent you from getting stuck in spreadsheet hell. If you don't want to get so hands-on with the down-and-dirty day-to-day operation, you can always just have the game play that part for you - it'll make all the necessary decisions for you. The final thing we saw was the extensive work that has been done on the Create-a-wrestler mode. Specifically, you can now create entrances for your wrestler, and the retooled entrance designer gives you complete control over the timing of each and every incendiary device and lighting effect, so you can be sure your wrestler steps out with class. As far as customizations for your wrestler himself (or herself - see, there's a key customization right there!), the bar that has been set with the 360 is easily matched. You thought Oblivion gave you a ton of options for shaping your character? WWE Smackdown! Vs RAW delivers eight sliders for your character's nose alone that enable you to adjust virtually every dimension of its shnoz. In addition, you can bust out with some aging effects if you envision your wrestler to be seasoned (or even past his prime). http://www.gamesradar.com/us//images...shot_large.jpg Along with 250 new pieces of clothing (which can be "stylized" so that a baseball cap can be tilted to the side if you prefer it that way), you'll also have access to a wide variety of body textures. These textures enable you to add tattoos, wounds or body hair that you can colorize in whatever bizarre shade you like (we have already drawn up plans to create Blanka of Street Fighter II fame). Once the demo was done, it was clear to us that WWE Smackdown! Vs RAW is your game... no matter what game that may be. With a huge host of game modes and customization options, we're looking forward to building our own wrestling empire this November. CAW Video credit - Gamesradar.com |
nice!
|
I really hope that the clothes actually hang off, instead of clinging to you, because no loose fitting jacket should be completely molded to your body. also the clothing the way you like it, cap tilted sideways sounds cool. also it may take too much memorie but having an alternate attire for a created wrestler would also be cool. and belts being carried on shoulder (not 6 inches above it) would be great.
|
When will dev teams stop wasting space on wacky shit like robot hands in CAW modes?
|
When they find out that the one person that uses them stops?
