Great comedy match. Ryder was great, but he's no Santino.

Volare 06-02-2011 11:44 PM

The Cold Feet gig was nice. Pretty cool that Zack was filming the same time RAW was and we got the broski pound.

The man is gold.

Asmo 06-02-2011 11:59 PM

The signoff was a great idea. Some one in creative or probably John Cena himself is pushing for Ryder.

Tazz Dan 06-03-2011 12:37 AM

Fuck me this was awesome

Volare 06-03-2011 12:46 AM

Funny episode Zack Ryder for US Champion!

Damian Rey 06-03-2011 01:04 AM

Amazing.

I don't know what more this guy has to do to get a shot on Raw. He's got signs night in and night out, and his show is priceless.

Please, oh please, get Ryder on the mic and in the ring on Mondays.

Yeah. Gonna happen real soon. Just keep refreshing the front page.

Damian Rey 06-03-2011 01:07 AM

Anyone else think a Ryder/Cena alliance, only to have it broken up by the Big O sometime down the line, is a good idea?

SaskatchewanChamp 06-03-2011 01:23 AM

No it is not a good idea. Ryder is irrelevant. Just another no named cock sucker that the IWC is in love with because of how invalid and moot the guy really is.

Yet he has over a million hits on his youtube page, has his t shirts selling out online, has signs all over the place on the flagship show and on PPV, and has been seen several times with the company's top guy. Very irrelevant, indeed.

Huh, so that's why he's been with Cena the last few weeks in promo's leading to Cena's entrance, getting Ryder's shirt, fist pumping, and saying what's up on TV. (Which if WWE truly thought Ryder wasn't worth it, they wouldn't have made a shirt for him.) He's getting over huge on the net, the fans prove it as well on Live RAW. Obviously WWE thinks there is something there for him.

I think you're just jealous you aren't Zack Ryder.

XL 06-03-2011 03:37 AM

I think he's starting to gain momentum. The shows popularity has carried over into the arenas. There is no way that the WWE brass haven't seen the signs in the crowd week in, week out. These are only small steps but with his show likely going to wwe.com and the constant linking of him with Cena on-screen (which I actually think is Cena's doing, so props to him) I see the Ryder Revolution happening soon.

XL 06-03-2011 03:37 AM

Also, the radio skit was incredible.

To be honest, and I know this gets said a lot, but this is seriously the funniest one yet.

Broski in a bottle = fuckin comedy.

Lock Jaw 06-03-2011 01:33 PM

I love how Zack's Dad is writing his letter in giant words with a red marker. And that he signs it as "Zack's Dad".

Londoner 06-03-2011 02:54 PM

God that cold feet stuff/him on tv thing was classic.

Triple Naitch 06-03-2011 08:29 PM

Zack's dad should be father of the year or something. Hawkins said on AOW that Zack had his dad drive out to Toys R Us to get him some Wrestlemania collectible figures before Hawkins could get to them when they were training together.

I think I'd like to see the "WWE gags" used as vignettes on Raw leading to a push for Ryder.

Imagine midway through Raw we cut to "This is the WWE. This is Zack Ryder." etc.

ZackRyder Zack Ryder
Thanks to @HEELZiggler for all the nice things he said about me on Raw. But I wouldn't leave him alone with my girlfriend though.

The Naitch 06-07-2011 03:15 PM

guys remember how The Rock started out, he looked like a goofball with curly hair, comical eyebrow, $500 shirts, elvis sideburns, and was fat and had man boobs but he evolved into Dwayne Johnson

Zack Ryder is on the right path TO GREATNESS. As long as his work ethic is good and his attitude is good, I see him eventually evolving from goofball guido into bonafied main event stud

Also anyone notice Big O howling like a banshee?

The Naitch 06-07-2011 03:19 PM

you gotta take the top stars of today and rewind their careers and take a look at them when they first started out

even Randy Orton looked like a tool. Same with Triple H. They all looked like fools. But eventually they turned themselves into gold

Lock Jaw 06-07-2011 03:23 PM

They never had comedy gimmicks though. Much tougher to get out of a comedy gimmick, especially if it becomes popular.

Lock Jaw 06-07-2011 07:08 PM

So, I've noticed that I have been ending conversations/meetings with the phrase "Take Care" lately. Which I never used to say. Also, I have to fight the incredible urge to say "Spike your hair". I think I do "pronounce" the comma, though.

So I'm like "Alright. Take Care,"

And I guess whoever I'm talking to might expect something to follow, but I haven't let it slip out yet.

XL 06-07-2011 09:19 PM

LOL

That Miley Cyrus song is on the playlist at work and a couple nights ago I found myself singing along but using the "Party in the L.I." lyrics.

Glad nobody caught me, either way that could have been embarrassing.

Lock Jaw 06-07-2011 09:37 PM

The Naitch 06-08-2011 10:11 AM

Z Ryder needs to make sure he keeps his material fresh prevent it from getting stale though

Quote:

I understand. But didn't Rock do comedy? I see no problem with Z doing comedy, it just needs to be a slow progression. Like it might take 3 years but Rock in 97 slowly evolved and peaked in 2000. Hell, Rock was doing comedy his whole career. Z just needs to stop making himself the butt end of all the jokes though and slowly start making fun of his opponents. This will come as time goes by. Z just needs to find a perfect blend of comedy and seriousness when he gets to the main event spot

Also, Big O needs to get signed...NOW. I don't care if he's not a wrestler. Just throw him in front of the mic and call it a day. He's got more charisma in his pinky finger than most of the guys on the roster combined

Also, I'm not a big fan of Curt Hawkins..."The Party Starter". He's copying Shawn Michaels "The Showstopper" with that shit. Plus he's turning into a bitter Matt Hardy. He should be careful

XL 06-08-2011 10:16 AM

I don't recall Rocky Maivia being a comedy act before he became The Rock. As The Rock he may have done comical promos but he wasn't a "comedy act" like Ryder or Santino.

I think it's a stretch to compare the two.

Even to compare him to HHH - who was doing out and out comedy as part of DX - is a stretch as the comedy was a different style.

The Naitch 06-08-2011 10:53 AM

admit it though, when blue chipper Rocky Maivia came out with that curly hair and blue ribbons he might as well have been a comedy act

ok you win

what I meant was that even though Ryder is a comedy act, he could still slowly progress to where he starts making fun of his opponents (instead of himself) and as long as he has the fan base, they will embrace Z as he evolves. He could be WWE's version of The Situation a few years down the line. WWE superstars are essentially characters. Z has the look and the size. Big O will be the Mankind to Zack's Rocky. The Goldust to Booker T.

I can eventually see Z as a serious character who will frequently still do his "classic" references from time to time for nostalgia purposes

XL 06-08-2011 12:26 PM

I agree that Ryder has the skill set to step up. Hell, I think this thread proves that a lot of people here do. I also think that someone at WWE has caught on too. He may have lost on Raw but he had a decent showing and man did they push the hell out of his YouTube show - despite having no official connection to it at the moment.

I get what you're saying, that someone who wasn't taken all that seriously (Rocky Maivia) can become someone mega successful and in that you're right.

XCaliber 06-08-2011 12:39 PM

He didn't get squashed by Kofi on Raw this week so this could be a good sign.

parkmania 06-08-2011 06:03 PM

He did look good in the loss, and I'm glad for Z's sake that they didn't take the easy route and have Dolph interfere. That would have completely killed any momentum that Zack built in the match. He's currently at a "this close" to getting over on the more casual fans who haven't seen ZTLIS.

CSL 06-09-2011 12:20 AM

new ep coming tomorrow

Volare 06-09-2011 12:23 AM

Can't.....sleep....must....spike hair...

The Naitch 06-09-2011 04:33 AM

Z is gaining so much momentum, soon every superstar will wanna be "associated" with him in some shape or form.

Calling it right now: Z Ryda will be the next biggest star since John Cena. Back then people were posting threads asking "Who do you think will be the next big star after John Cena?" Some people said so and so and some people said this person is not in the WWE yet. Well folks, the answer is right under our noses. And his name is Zack Ryder. I predict him main eventing a WrestleMania in a couple of years

Only thing he has to worry about is staying fresh and being able to evolve his gimmick once the whole Jersey Shore craze lays to rest. Like I said before, as long as his loyal fanbase continues to grow and stay in tact, he will be hard to ignore. And he's not like RVD in 2001, he is homegrown talent so I see no reason in Vince trying to hold him down. Let's just hope guys like Curt Hawkins doesn't hold him back. Z Ry has the right attitude and the business smarts, so it's only a matter of time. Plus he could work well as a heel and a face.

I don't even know if I could go to sleep. Might as well stay up and pull an all-nighter waiting for the new episode

Also just look at guys like Mankind and Big Show. In their initial phases, at first look, you would've never thought they'd be in a main event match at WrestleMania.

Evil Vito 06-14-2011 07:12 PM

From Wrestling Observer:

Meltzer was texted during the show by a WWE employee stating that the reason Zack was not on the show is because "Vince hates the internet". Backstage, many, many people were upset that the person getting the most chants throughout the night was not brought out for a promo or even a quick appearance in his hometown who clearly wanted him there. Meltzer got some more information today on the thought process.

Evidently, it was indeed a rib/joke being played on Zack. Zack had spent his prior show talking up how he was in his hometown, how excited he was, how this could be his chance to finally shine and move up on the card. Zack was told a few days ago he would have a promo and a match on RAW and would turn face on RAW, even being able to acknowledge his youtube show and Internet Champion gimmick. This is why Zack was so excited the past few days.

The rib went so far as there was even a fake script and timeline alloted for Zack to come out and wrestle, besides Superstars, with his RAW promo and on air face turn. When the time came close for this to happen, Zack was informed plans changed and he would not be on air. This was literally during the broadcast. The entire rib was Vince's idea and was because Vince is not a fan of the "bashing" Zack does about WWE and sees it as "giving in" to someone who is visibly bashing the company with "dropping ball" clips, etc.

Meltzer comments that the real joke is on the fans, as the reaction to him not being on air is not pretty and as the rib is being revealed, even less people are happy. Multiple wrestlers have stated their public displeasure with the rib and John Cena was said to directly confront Vince over the situation and what he felt was a poor joke.

---

Wow. Just...wow. :|

XCaliber 06-14-2011 07:55 PM

If I were Ryder i'd be fist pumping Vince's face and tell him I quit.

The Naitch 06-14-2011 08:01 PM

Eventually Vince will cave. He let Matt Hardy back after that whole internet fiasco. Give it some time. Plus Cena has his back

As CM Punk says...Faith

gotta admit though, Vince pulled a good one. Probably his best one yet

- After WWE failed to book Long Island native Zack Ryder on Monday's episode of RAW from the Nassau Coliseum, WWE star Dolph Ziggler went on Twitter and said the company "kicked [Ryder] in the nuts."

Former WWE star Chris Jericho is the latest person to speak out about Ryder being left off television in front of his hometown crowd. Jericho tweeted on Tuesday:

"So LAME that WWE didn't include @ZackRyder on Raw last night. No reason not to!! Wrestling is supposed to be FUN remember? Time to riot..."

Zack Ryder commented on the situation, but was careful not to come off as bitter .. He wrote:

"I wasn't on Raw...(besides all the Ryder signs and chants)...but you can catch me this Thursday on WWE Superstars."

Wade Barrett showed support for Ryder as well on Tuesday, tweeting, "WWWYKI."
