He should have gotten punched for putting on shades in the arena when the camera was gonna be on him like a douche.

CM Punk - Best in the World is now available on iTunes.

@Dan_Danielson1 was at RAW tonight and passed on the following regarding CM Punk's altercation with a fan.

Dan said the fan pushed at CM Punk in the back of the head. It was after this that CM Punk hit him with a spinning back fist and continued to go after him.

There have been some questions as to whether CM Punk went after the wrong fan, but many of the videos surfacing online don't show any action taken by the gentlemen other than putting his glasses on before CM Punk swung at him. Dan confirms the man who got hit by CM Punk was the man who pushed CM Punk from behind.

We'll continue to follow this story as it develops.

Hopefully Punk didn't just lose his shit with the wrong fan. Anyway, holy shit this Ryback build took a huge leap tonight. This is beautiful booking. They found a logical way to force Punk to face Cena in a "final battle" while also using that to build up Ryback to the hottest thing in wrestling in a matter of weeks. Kudos to WWE for recognizing Ryback was getting over, using it to their advantage, and not blowing their wad yet. Now, you can eternally tease the fuck out of Ryback finally getting a title shot. If they continue this, Ryback ending Punk's insane championship title reign at WrestleMania could be HUGE. Bischoff and WCW were too dumb and impatient to make money off of Goldberg/Hogan, but WWE and Vince McMahon aren't going to make the same mistake.

James Steele 10-09-2012 12:42 AM

Seriously, if they do that they have enough time to have Ryback wrestle longer matches and get more established and tested before throwing him in head first into the deep end.

James Steele 10-09-2012 12:43 AM

Also...St. Jimmy, are you just a simple troll now?

DaVe 10-09-2012 12:44 AM

Dayum, doesn't look good for Punk.

If he attacked the wrong fan or if nobody did actually touch him, he is fucked. Security should have been closer though.

James Steele 10-09-2012 12:50 AM

I saw one fan on the left touch CM Punk's shoulder, but he would seen her do it and it wouldn't have warranted that reaction. Hopefully some other video will come out. WWE, the arena, the security company, CM Punk himself, and who knows what else could all be sued.

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 12:52 AM

Most of TPWW including myself is guilty of nostalgia. But fuck, watching that ending again and the crowd losing their shit at a simple clothesline... felt like the old days. Fucking atmosphere just oozing from the screen.

I don't know what I want now. The build to Ryback vs Punk at Mania if they could stretch it out that far could be outstanding but at the same time, I've got my heart set on Lesnar coming in to protect Punk from Ryback and ending up with Ryback vs Lesnar. I'm not sure they could go wrong either way. Then again, I don't know if they can keep Ryback from winning the title for a year and a half because I feel like it should happen at Mania.

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 01:01 AM

And don't forget about The Rock. They gave him the title shot at the Rumble for a reason. Either for someone to cost him the title to lead to a WrestleMania match or to walk into WrestleMania and put someone over by dropping it to them.

FUCK I wanna see how this plays out.

pretty sure the 'shaky cam' part at the end was just an effect. they cut to it, presumably accidentally, before anything big really happened and it was shaking as hard as it was during the huge ryback clothesline. well played, though, cause the crowd was hot and it made it looks that much more genuine

James Steele 10-09-2012 01:04 AM

If that level of reaction stays, they couldn't push it that long. You tease it out as long as you can, but you can't tease it so long that everybody goes "fuck it, its not happening" and quit caring. Example: Stone Cold could have won the title in 1997, but they teased it and built it even more until the point that you couldn't wait anymore. Not saying Ryback is at that level, but WWE has something very special here. CM Punk last year was hot, but it was different than this. This is an "old school" overness that is simply wanting to see this jacked up freak kick the chickenshit heel's ass after months of dodging bullets and weaseling his way out of his comeuppance. In a way, it is very poetic that Punk's "superstardom" started in a worked shoot promo, but has now morphed into an old school feud in which he will get to help make a new star. Punk loves the old school style and it all seems fitting.

**Of course, this is all assuming that fan doesn't sue the fuck out of everybody and they are forced to do some knee-jerk reaction to the fan thing.

I dunno. The crowd was fucking hot, and it isn't like WWE has used "the shaky camera trick" before. Plus, it was a smaller arena so it is completely plausible they had that arena and camera rockin'.

Juan 10-09-2012 01:08 AM

Like I said earlier, last time I was at Arco/Power Balance the place was literally shaking.

Yeah. That coupled with the fact that the crowd was visibly going nuts... I doubt it was just an effect.

James Steele 10-09-2012 01:16 AM

God, that ending to RAW was the most electric/goosebumps inducing segment I can remember in a long time.

Wehttam 10-09-2012 01:20 AM

lets hope it isn't ruined by any bad pr and/or a suspension.

well except gertner

James Steele 10-09-2012 01:22 AM

Remember, WrestleMania is still roughly 6 months away. A 1/2 year is plenty of time to build Ryback into more than just JabroniCrusher5000.

Atleast without having a guy like Rock or Brock returning or something like that.

I can't remember the last time a Raw ended with an atmosphere and intensity like that... and it was basically because of guys that are there week in week out. No shocking returns or anything. Brilliant.

James Steele 10-09-2012 01:28 AM

Skip Sheffield breaking his leg right as The Nexus started might have been the luckiest break (*rimshot*) of his career.

Vince McMahon is what surprised me the most. As much shit as we all give Vince for "not getting it anymore" or whatever, the son of a bitch knows how to work a crowd and get them into something. I wasn't sure at first, but Punk vs Vince ended up being the perfect catalyst for all this. Vince only turned the tables when Punk got cocky and talked shit with Vince on his shoulders forever. Vince then went batshit, but ability/heelish intelligence overcame heart and toughness until the next big thing came to make the save.

I'm sure St. Jimmy and others will bitch about Punk being made to look weak or whatever, but Vince McMahon has a special place in the wrestling fan psyche, so it worked. Punk looks like his arrogance/confidence/ego/ruthlessness/viciousness/etc. has reached "critical mass" and here we are at the tipping point before a PPV and they have built in storylines that this could go after said PPV.

Laughed out loud. Then I realized that it was written after he slapped Vince. Then I laughed again at the irony.

James Steele 10-09-2012 01:50 AM

I think for Survivor Series, if they could do Punk/Lesnar/Big Show/Heyman/Del Rio vs Ryback/HHH/Sheamus/Vince/Orton and have it be the first ever Survivor Series match to end in a no contest/clusterfuck/apocolyptic brawl it would be amazing. As soon as Lesnar/Ryback are in the ring, you have it turn into a clusterfuck before they ever touch. Then, just as it is broken up and Sheamus is left recovering...

<object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zF8d_68H6BA?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zF8d_68H6BA?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Dolph Ziggler cashes in the Money in the Bank contract to win the World Heavyweight Championship so fans don't feel jipped that the PPV ended in a complete clusterfuck.

Survivor Series 2012

Traditional Survivor Series Match (Team Heyman vs Team Vince)
CM Punk/Brock Lesnar/Big Show/Alberto Del Rio/Paul Heyman
vs
Ryback/Triple H/Sheamus/Randy Orton/Vince McMahon

  • Team Heyman wins - Punk doesn't defend WWE Championship until Royal Rumble versus The Rock, Big Show names stipulation vs Sheamus at TLC, ADR is #30 in Royal Rumble, Paul Heyman becomes RAW GM, Brock Lesnar gets $1,000,000.
  • Team McMahon wins - Ryback gets title shot at TLC, Triple H gets another 1 on 1 match with Brock Lesnar at TLC, Sheamus gets to name stipulation for championship match at TLC, Orton gets ADR 1 on 1 at TLC, Vince McMahon will get to fire Heyman and Lesnar pays back his contract.
  • Vince will only agree to stipulations if Heyman is in match himself.
  • "Most Important Survivor Series Match since 2001 when WWE and WCW fought for their survival!"
Street Fight
John Cena vs Wade Barrett

WWE Tag Team Championships - Titles Can Change Hands on DQ

Kane/Daniel Bryan (c)
vs
Rhodes Scholars

Tag Team Turmoil Match - #1 Contender for Tag Titles at TLC
Sin Cara/Rey Mysterio
vs
Titus O'Neal/Darren Young
vs
Primo/Epico
vs

Jimmy Uso/Jey Uso

WWE Intercontinental Championship - No Disqualfication
The Miz (c) vs Kofi Kingston

WWE United States Championship - Triple Threat Match
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs Brodus Clay vs R-Truth

Traditional Survivor Series Match (Team Show Off vs Team Jack Off)
Dolph Ziggler/Heath Slater/Drew McIntyre/Jinder Mahal/Tensai
vs

Zack Ryder/Santino Marella/Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel/Great Khali

I know it would be a huge risk to have a match built on such huge stipulations end in a no contest, but I think it would help build how volatile all these guys are and the heels could justifiably complain and the faces can justifiably complain about the heels complaining. You could tease the WWE Board of Directors forcing Punk/Ryback at TLC but then they do something else. For example, Heyman maneuvers to become GM and Brock agrees to stay full-time in WWE through the rest of his contract. (Of course, Paul Heyman gives him nights off/etc.) It would create buzz, commotion, and continue to build it to where the people HAVE to finally see Ryback/Punk or Ryback/Lesnar or whatever.

dronepool 10-09-2012 02:45 AM

Watching RAW on youtube, damn CM Punk/Vince is great so far.

Droford 10-09-2012 03:13 AM

Its obvious that punk will take the less tan 100% cena over Ryback, but it sets the wheels in motion for ryback's main event push that will probably kick into full gear when he wins the rumble...

D Mac 10-09-2012 03:14 AM

Just wanna say that was one of the most rowdy crowds I've seen on Raw in a long while. Reminded me of the Nitro where Goldberg won the title.

Juan 10-09-2012 03:41 AM

This was the last time Raw was in Sacramento, I believe (or at least the last time I was there) and the crowd absolutely erupted at the 10:52 mark. The video isn't that great in quality, but as I mentioned, the place was literally shaking...

Looks like that idiot behind him with the sign was the one pushing him.

Juan 10-09-2012 04:00 AM

Punk pushed the guy with the sign first, so the guy pushed him back, then the guy with the sun glasses hit Punk in the back of the head, by accident it almost seems, and then Punk retaliated.

Juan 10-09-2012 04:02 AM

He got pushed a second time before sun glasses guy hit him in the head, but I can't tell by who

DaVe 10-09-2012 04:06 AM

Apparently a guy in a white/grey shirt, behind sunglasses-guy, gave Punk the bird and slapped Punk on the back of the head at the same time as sunglasses guy was putting on his glasses. You can sort of make that out in the video, but it is hard to tell.

Either way, sunglasses guy is gonna have some free Wrestlemania tickets by next week.

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 04:06 AM

Definitely looked like the guy with the sunglasses was just putting his hands down and accidentally hit the back of Punk's head in the process. The guy on the side who pushed him should have gotten punched in the face though.

No, sunglasses guy definitely was the one who hits the back of his head. He's doing some hands up gesture toward the ring, probably thinking the camera was still on him and then he puts his hand down and hits Punk in the head.

DaVe 10-09-2012 04:08 AM

And didn't realise until this video how obnoxious fans are when the wrestlers get into the crowd.

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 04:09 AM

Why security wasn't up there, I have no idea. Shitty planning.

Juan 10-09-2012 04:11 AM

I hadn't even noticed the guy in the long sleeves. It really looks like he pushed sunglasses guy into Punk as he was putting on his sunglasses. But yeah, that guy with the sign that shoved Punk is the guy who started all of it IMO

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 04:15 AM

Oh shit. Just saw the guy behind sunglasses guy too. It looked like he pushed Punk and in the process pushed sunglasses guy forward to cause him to hit Punk in the back of the head.

Still... fuck that little shit to Punk's right. Goddamn kids.

Juan 10-09-2012 04:17 AM

That being said, as long as Punk reaches out to sunglasses guy, I don't think it'll end up being a big deal.

#1-norm-fan 10-09-2012 04:23 AM

And pays to replace the sunglasses of course. Let's not forget about the sunglasses in all of this commotion.

Cool King 10-09-2012 07:05 AM

The guy in the white is the dick who kept hitting Punk. He did a dick move and hit Punk again but did it from behind sunglasses man.

Sunglasses man was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can't really be pissed at Punk because of what happened.

Punk will probably explain what happened to Vince, then when this video is pretty much used as evidence and things are clear, Punk will probably apologise to the right people, the fan will get some free WWE stuff and this incident will be forgotten about.

It was just a case of mistaken identity.

I do admit that they did a good job with Ryback the last few weeks, even though I'm not sold on him I'm glad they're finally making a use out of the image his 'streak' created. Hope CM Punk beats him, but have the match be really close. That way Punk can still brag.
