Easy there, Drostradamus.

2 more in 5 years..not impossible
|
No, it's impossible. Too much parody in NFL nowadays.

I will say getting rid of Abraham wasn't fucking smart in my opinion only because he was pretty much all the pass rush we had unless they're planning on upgrading with someone younger.
Also, as long as we resign Grimes I'm ok with getting rid of Dunta. |
I'm a fan of John Abraham.

Don't worry Kris P. we're absolutely terrified of the Saints now that you got your coach back and all. And let's not forget Rob Ryan coming in and taking your defense from the drizzling shits to merely mediocre. You might as well book your ticket to New York now, 'cause the Saints are Super Bowl bound. Quote:
|
The fact that the Saints 14-6 against ATL in the past decade is what you should be scared of..
|
And yet we still have more playoff appearances over that same period of time.
|
And yet have less playoff wins and no SuperBowl wins..
|
Yet. Brees didn't win the big one until year 9. Matt Ryan is in year 5. Takes time for some QBs. The Falcons future for the next decade is a hell of a lot brighter than the Saints. I'll tell you that much.
|
Wait when did Matt Ryan play in the Superbowl??
|
think i missed that
|
Randy Moss teases he might be retiring again after saying he has no plans to play for the 49ers next season.

Most national news outlets sent cameras to coverage Lauren Silberman's tryout at Jets camp. She was injured after two kicks. :o So much for that.

Madden 25 Cover Vote is on: Jerry Rice vs Cris Carter

lol that's not a real vote is it?

They were thinking of going Joe Montana vs Jeff Blake but they went with the WRs instead..

Breakdown of Flacco's contract:
http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/22...flaccodeal.jpg He has about $30-$51 million as guaranteed money for the first two years while the rest of the guaranteed money is dependent on if he ever gets hurt (fully guaranteed) or not (none guaranteed). Also the cap hit starts to get brutal after Year 3. Best chance for the Ravens to repeat is next year since its just an $6.8 million hit on the cap. http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2013/3/...year-breakdown |

Still think it is stupid to pay Joe Flacco that much.
|
Its stupid to pay flacco $120 but hey its alright if matt Ryan gets $140...;
9-4 in the playoffs with a team that's NEVER been the #1 seed in the playoffs vs 1-4 with a team that was a #1 seed twice. Hey, his stats are great though..actually..over 5 years Ryan has only thrown for 1300 more yards and 25 tds than Flacco while throwing 4 more ints. So Ryan only avgs about 260 yards and 5 tds more a year than Flacco..big deal |
Matt Ryan is a better Quarterback than Joe Flacco, along with like 6 other guys.
|
You shouldn't be thanking Joe Flacco for your Superbowl win anyhow, you should be thanking Chris Culliver.
|
My dick will be harder than a fucking rock when this blows up in the Ravens' face in a couple of years.
|
That article about Ryan is pure speculation on a slow news week for a guy who is the Falcons beat writer and needed a story. There's only so many Tony Gonzalez updates that can be made. The sports talk shows here were trashing it all day. I love Matty Ice, but unless he wins a Super Bowl next season and is the league MVP, he isn't getting $140 million.
|
Don't think the Flacco deal will hurt the Ravens that much. Worst case scenario, the team goes to shit and dude has to restructure. Of that $120 million, he's only guaranteed $52 million (still a lot of fucking money no doubt).
At some point, the NFL will have to raise the salary cap limit as well, so that should provide relief. |

49ers dropped out of the potential list of teams willing to make a trade with the Jets for Darrelle Revis. Falcons are also rumored to be backing out as well.
Wes Welker is testing free agency this year after talks between him and the Pats broke down. Pats wanted him to lower his asking price for a new deal but he refused. |
Local Saints analyst was saying that if we go after any offensive free agents it woul;d be Delany Walker from the 9ers cause we let Baconator (Dave Thomas) go and he'd be a good compliment to Graham..
I said called that earlier in this thread but don't feel like searching for it.. |
The Giants have about $9 million in cap room, but they need to still tender contracts to their restricted free agents which will take about $7 million, they're hoping to re-sign Boothe and Bennett before the free agent market opens, and they also need to save room for draft pick signings.
I read they might just move Diehl back to LG and let Boothe walk. I respect the fuck out of Diehl but I can't for the life of me understand how he hasn't been cut yet. Looks like Webster agreed to take a pay cut to avoid being released. |
Apparently teams can begin contract talks with agents. However, no direct contact to players can be made until 4 PM on Tuesday.
As per usual, I imagine a flurry of signings will be announced right at 4. |
I like Caldwell already. He cuts Whimper, tells Mathis "we don't want you back," and then tells Landry and Ross to pack their bags yesterday. Loving it. Now get rid of Laurent Robinson and Eben Britton.

thought you were a niners fan now

Steelers Release James Harrison. No Word if will be fined for being released. lol
|
So happy to hear that James Harrison is gone from the Steelers.
|
Reports coming out of Baltimore are saying that Anquan Boldin ain't taking a pay cut.
Alot of big names going to free agency with all this penny pinching this offseason for alot of team. I'd like to see Denver hook someone this offseason with some star power. |

MoJo in his heyday I would do in a heartbeat.
But since we're a little overloaded on runningbacks, and with Ronnie Hillman on his way to becoming a big time player in the future at the moment, I'll pass. |
So Boldin is gonna hang em up then (if those reports are/were true)? A shame. I'm a big fan.
|
I for see him not getting any better deals elsewhere and taking the pay cut. If he goes that's $7 million to use to resign other guys and they can draft another wr
|
And for everyone saying "omg, flacco's contract strikes..lol" his cap # this year is only $7 million. Suggs is a bigger issue at $13 million, rumor was they might try and restructure his contract..
|
I really think it's time for the NFL to raise the salary cap anyways.
|
They did raise it a few hundred grand..
|
They should eliminate the salary cap. If you want to play with the big boys, then you better have a big boy bank account.
|
|
With the panthers claiming poverty (lol) trying to get money for their stadium and then having it exposed that they made over $100 million..someone called into Ben mallers show and jokingly suggested that the state/local governments fork over so much tax money to fund stadiums that they should just outright buythe teams and run them. Would be a great way to ruin sports.
|
The cap needs to stay right around where it is because it's the main reason there is so much parity. It's not possible to keep all of your big stars forever unless they willingly take less money...and that in an of itself is rare. Guys need to make their money when they can, and they'll go wherever they can get the most guaranteed money.
With rookie salaries now somewhat controlled, now more than ever you need to be able to build a franchise from the draft. |
Was reading that if the Giants work out long-term deals with Nicks and Cruz...then in 2014 Eli, Nicks, and Cruz could account for like $40 million against the cap (1/3rd of the current cap). :o And that's with JPP getting ready to look for his payday.
Years of restructuring deals is finally coming back to haunt them. |
Good. Hope the Giants fuck off and die.

Minnesota reported to have traded Percy Harvin to Seattle in return for a minimum of at least Seattle's 2013 1st Round draft pick (#25).
|
Wow. Watching Seattle play San Francisco twice a year is going to be must see tv.
|
Harvin actually has to play for that to be a good deal

I've watched this at least 20 times and it still hasn't gotten old.

Does the Revis/Broncos scuttlebutt have any validation or truth to it? Heard about interest in Mendenhall but a friend told me they were on to Revis and it kind of caught me off guard.
|
Quote:
As for Mendenhall, I see no need. We're heavy on runningbacks as it is. |
Well I meant bitter sweet because he was a large reason we didn't win the Superbowl. Lol, he's gonna walk right up to Chris Culliver and be like "sup."
|
A 6th rounder? Really? Is that all Boldin was worth to the Ravens at this point? Ridiculous.
|
cash money, was probs gonna get cut otherwise

Ravens had no leverage after Boldin said he'd retire.

Ravens got fucked in that deal. Boldin is easily worth more than a 6th rounder.
The Super Bowl on the NFC side easily goes through the West this year. |
Now that the Ravens have 13 picks they might trade em to move up in the first round
Also now almost $18 million under the cap they might go after a fa wr |
I think the Ravens could get Greg Jennings for less than boldin was making this year on a multi year contract..he's just as much a clutch pass catcher as boldin is and almost 3 years younger
|
Pay out the ass for the QB and then get rid of a top WR. :y:
|
Lol if someone said that about Jennings over Boldin 8 hours ago you would have defended Boldin to the death.
|
Unless Ravens want to enter a bidding war, no way Jennings goes to Baltimore. Colts and GB are being seen as the favorites for him right now with the Colts desperate to get him.
All those teams besides GB have double to almost triple the cap space Baltimore has should a bidding war start for Jennings.

Also told that Greg Jennings has received interest from the Rams, Colts, Browns, and Bengals, yet is still talking to GB about re-signing
— Shawn Zobel (@ShawnZobel_DHQ) March 11, 2013
 |
