Honestly, that was what intrigued me about the show; how they were going to pull off the exeptional everyman without needing to crutch themselves with superheroes all the time or somehow degrade the movieverse. Its kinda like ODST in the world of Halo, in that they're not Spartans, but still soliders in a galaxy of shit infinitely stronger than they, even on their own side. The Whedon boner was secondary.

That, and my aforementioned hope for some sort of Alpha Flight appearance. And possibly even Damage Control.

And I will admit it was kind of slow to start in setting up character development, and the nitpicking on the blah acting chemestry in the first episode. But it was worth sticking it out. Only thing about rerunning is that the gimmick of coinciding with movie releases like with the Asguardian prison break or the events from Winter Solider kinda loses some of its flair, but its still awesome even without the context.

Shadow 04-25-2014 08:51 PM

You probably won't get Alpha Flight but Damage Control is a distinct possibility.

As is the Wrecking Crew

Tom Guycott 04-27-2014 12:47 AM

I know, I know... but don't dash my hopes.

I mean, they could get away with just about anyone who's been in the lineup without much problem explaining their abilities being experiments or 084-ish tech. Guardian would be a no-brainer, since everyone has been trying to reproduce Cap in this side of the movieverse. Actually, they could use that to explain almost every one of the members. Even better, they could just put Heather in the suit, and Vindicator would give Joss another ass-kicking girl he seems to relish in.

The only problems they would run into would likely be Aurora and Northstar, since the twins are full blown mutants.

As for Wrecking Crew, it would seem logical to power them from one of the many looted objects from The Sandbox. Maybe even something to do with a mishap from handling the full "rage stick" Ward picked up.

And Damage Control could be the Lone Gunmen to this X-Files. They can come in and periodically lighten the mood by having them bitch about having to constantly clean up New York (after both Hulk and Avengers) and now the whole Hydra blowing shit up everywhere having them stretch their resources thin. Even as another one-shot, this would be entertaining.

Shadow 04-29-2014 09:22 PM

.....well that was a twist.

Kalyx triaD 04-29-2014 09:25 PM

This episode seemed more like a follow-up to Winter Soldier than the one billed as such. I love when Maria Hill drops her mother-esque threats.

Seems we have a Total Recall situation with Coulson. Brings to mind how little we knew about him before the Avengers initiative. He may have more secrets than he realizes.

This was done very well and definitely has me anticipating next week. This show does everything right and gets better each week. :y:

Fignuts 05-02-2014 03:18 AM

Might give this a second chance with everyone so excited about new episodes now. First few episodes did absolutely nothing for me.

It is totally worth it. You can feel the connection to the movieverse

The Destroyer 05-03-2014 06:10 AM

I'm not quite fully up to date yet (since the UK's running a couple of weeks behind with new eps), but it's amazing how much this has improved since the early episodes.

Few months ago I couldn't have cared less if it had been cancelled, but I genuinely hope it does get a second season now.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-05-2014 12:08 AM

They have to keep it on it gives them advertising for their movies. The station that airs it owns the show and the movies.

DaveBrawl 05-05-2014 08:30 AM

I'd say they do just fine advertising their movies without this show. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good and I like it, but it's not even worth considering in that aspect since they barely even feature bit players from the movies.

Shadow 05-06-2014 09:21 PM

Well...shit.

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2014 10:12 PM

Man Ward's a dick.

dronepool 05-06-2014 10:32 PM

Namor can't save them :-\

Blonde Moment 05-07-2014 05:12 AM

Doesn't look good for a second season unless Wade knew exactly where he was.

JimmyMess 05-07-2014 09:20 AM

Well he just went and dropped dem into da water.

Blonde Moment 05-07-2014 10:01 AM

Doesn't mean the end for them yet

JimmyMess 05-07-2014 10:17 AM

I imagine they will be alive. Ward probably turned a homing beacon on or something

Kalyx triaD 05-07-2014 01:30 PM

The quarter Fitz has is a homing beacon.

Ward indeed tried to murder them. He's lost.

Shadow 05-07-2014 02:09 PM

The character of Ward is....fascinating to me. He's a man trapped between three worlds. The world he grew up in, the world Garrett dragged him into, and the world of the Bus. It's really a pitying situation for him.

Also I think FitzSimmons was worried they were higher then they thought so jettisoning them would've killed 'em. Now...it was like Ward was just dumping them into the ocean to get rid of them. Not kill 'em.

SPEAKING OF FITZ! I really wish they'd decide if his character was angry at Ward or not. Because this last episode, he was really just trying to justify all of Ward's actions as "controlled by Garret" but when Ward murdered Patton Oswalt, he was super pissed off and angry at him. What the fuck happened? Seriously, consistency isn't this show's strong point now is it?

Kalyx triaD 05-07-2014 02:22 PM

Perhaps he was mad and now he wants answers.

Lock Jaw 05-07-2014 11:37 PM

Fitz is just going through the Five Stages of Being Victim To a Heel Turn.

First stage is Anger, second stage is Denial, etc...

Kalyx triaD 05-08-2014 10:54 PM

Season 2's a go. Agent Carter miniseries is greenlit.

very happy about all of this business

Corporate CockSnogger 05-09-2014 04:44 PM

Eh not that fussed about the Carter stuff really, but very happy Agents is gettin another season. Constantly improving, and we've barely even got to know the main characters all that much. Still a lot for them to do with Fitz, Simmons and May.

Lock Jaw 05-09-2014 08:30 PM

Wonder how they will deal with the Hydra stuff in Agent Carter, if at all.

Lock Jaw 05-09-2014 08:32 PM

Maybe the miniseries is going to just basically be a prequel to the current going-ons.... showing the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D. as they battle the remains of Hydra... then it ends with Hydra's seeming defeat.... but we know better.

Inadequacy 05-09-2014 11:34 PM

I'm not seeing anything about it being just a mini-series other than speculation about from months ago.

Regardless I'm very excited for Agent Carter.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2014 01:19 AM

The guys behind stated their intention for it to be a limited run on TV.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-10-2014 07:18 AM

"Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Shadow 05-11-2014 08:34 PM

Cannot...wait.

Also now that AoS has been renewed we can hopefully get forward momentum in the MCU rather then just...nothing until Age of Ultron.

parkmania 05-11-2014 11:06 PM

Anyone else starting to feel a Reyna face turn?

Kalyx triaD 05-12-2014 11:36 AM

Yeah I imagine she'll, maybe not join the team, but help Skye on the tease that their origin might be similar.

Shadow 05-12-2014 08:39 PM

Kinda hoping so. But on the other hand, I also hope she's got some power or something. As is...she's my favorite character in the damn show.

Not bad looking either.

Kalyx triaD 05-13-2014 02:52 PM

In something of a brilliant move; Agent Carter will fill up Tuesdays when SHIELD takes their mid-season break. That will be a full season of MCU TV with no breaks, all the way up to Avengers 2.

Fuck yes.

Shadow 05-13-2014 07:41 PM

Really? Well that's gonna put a small damper on my Godzilla plans...hmmmmmmm

JimmyMess 05-13-2014 09:01 PM

Pretty cool move.

Good make up for them having sporadic episodes in season 1.

Oh yeah!

Corporate CockSnogger 05-21-2014 02:35 AM

Finally watched the last episode. Really good season finale, I thought. Settled plenty but left quite a few things up in the air for next season. Paxton was a bit hammy when he went full in crazy but it worked. Giving Coulson the job of re-building SHIELD up from scratch was a smart way to keep SHIELD around and not make the show redundant, while not directly affecting what's happening in the films.

What's the score with the guy who Raina went to see at the end? Are there any theories going round about who he was and who/what Skye is?

Ward is def gonna be back next season in a "we can't trust him but he's the only guy who can help us" scenario. They just reeeeally need to not trim him full face again, and I'd be more than happy with him just being a minor recurring character from here on out.

Kalyx triaD 05-21-2014 03:02 AM

The idea that Paxton was partially inspired by a misheard quote from Fury was just awesome.

While I think the Skye/Raina/alien language/dead thing stuff is almost certainly Kree related (and Ronan the Accuser bringing the race to light in August), I think there's so much mileage using Skrulls on this show.

Shadow 05-21-2014 12:23 PM

Skrulls kinda belong to Universal right now. Actually it's really up in the air. I'd rather they work with what they have then use the Skrulls personally.

Also the Skrulls aren't the only shape-shifters in the Marvel Universe.

Kalyx triaD 05-21-2014 12:43 PM

Universal? wtf

JimmyMess 05-21-2014 03:48 PM

could her father be the Mandarin?

Kalyx triaD 05-21-2014 03:55 PM

No.

Shadow 05-21-2014 08:37 PM

The Real Mandarin could be an alien despot from another world. But no. Kinda hoping she's a Kree-human hyrbid.

Sixx 05-30-2014 09:09 AM

So I finally got to watching this and gotta say it's awesome (I'm currently at episode 13). Wasn't entirely convinced by this Marvel world focused on a governement agency and not superheroes, but I'm loving it. Love the easter eggs, too.

Only episode I thought sucked balls so far was the one about the "ghost" on the plane.

Shadow 05-30-2014 08:36 PM

It gets....better and worse. It really picks up when Winter Solider hits theaters and just ends so...so strong.

Yeah, I already watched it the whole way through. It got absolutely great when Hydra showed up. And I love how Hydra is a force to be reckoned with and not just Power Rangers' foot soldiers like in the comic books.

:WILD SPECULATION ALERT!:

This does nothing but keep my hope alive for some sort of Alpha Flight something. With all the allusions with Skye being "some kind of monster", I'm wondering if she is an in-series analogue for Marrina. Would make sense on a couple different levels.

Kalyx triaD 05-31-2014 02:56 AM

Still kinda shocked they name dropped Department H.

Sixx 05-31-2014 03:44 AM

So what are the speculations on Skye's parents?

I've read one about her turning out to be Abigail Brand, which would suck, but would kinda explain her 0-8-4 origin and her father being burnt.

Kalyx triaD 07-16-2014 04:45 PM

Agents returns Sept 23. Carter of course debuts during the mid-season break, promising a straight season without any actual breaks or reruns.

ABC unveiled a new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. billboard that may have motorists scratching their heads.

On Monday morning, a new ad for the show appeared on Barham and DeWitt—an intersection hard to miss when you’re coming into Hollywood—that features the mysterious alien equation that Coulson was carving into a wall in the final moments of the S.H.I.E.L.D. finale.

The billboard keeps with the minimalist tone the super series set going into its freshman run.

Can you decipher the alien equation? Tune in to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on ABC.

parkmania 08-21-2014 11:54 PM

Crusher Creel, AKA Absorbing Man, is going to be showing up in Season 2's premiere, portrayed by Brian Patrick Wade.

Shadow 08-23-2014 12:47 AM

And now that the show proved itself...time to bring in a ton of actual villains for the team to fight.

AND BRING IN THE GUEST HEROES!

JimmyMess 08-26-2014 12:50 PM

I wasn't sure which thread to put this in but whatever.

I would love to see William Hurt return as Thunderbolt Ross, just to add more connection between Incredible Hulk and the rest of the movieverse. I think it would work in SHIELD, if they could convince him to work the show.

Kalyx triaD 08-26-2014 01:09 PM

That would be cool. There's other, too, character that won't have much reason to appear in the movies again but could drop in the show. The cool thing is certain sub-villains could be a major problem for Coulson's team. Justin Hammer could get out, Batroc could cause some trouble, perhaps there's a runaway Dark Elf somewhere.

JimmyMess 08-26-2014 01:18 PM

yeah there are plenty of opportunities for other characters. I've just been thinking about Ross in particular. Would add more legitimacy to the show as well.

parkmania 08-29-2014 11:44 AM

I wonder if they're even allowed to hint at any of the characters that Sony or Fox has. Something about "Some guy crawling on the side of Manhattan's skyscrapers" or somesuch.

Shadow 08-30-2014 12:21 AM

Probably not but that'd be awesome if they could.

Kalyx triaD 08-30-2014 02:21 AM

Marvel.com has release the official synopsis and credits for the Season 2 premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Season 2 premiere is called “Shadows,” and it features some rather interesting guest stars. Among the credited cast is Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, who appeared in the Captain America movies and will soon star in her own Agent Carter series. Also, Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos is listed as playing himself in the episode.

In "Shadows," Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources--but that's not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?”

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter.

Guest starring are B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter, Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot, Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie, Patton Oswalt as Agent Billy Koenig, Lucy Lawless as Isabelle "Izzy" Hartley, Wilmer Calderon as Idaho, Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Brian Patrick Wade as Carl Creel, Matthew Glave as Roger Browning, Simon Kassianides as Sunil Bakshi, George Stephanopoulos as self, Raquel Gardner as Carla Talbot, Ben Turner Nixon as Hydra Officer, Franco Vega as Military Leader, Rich Ceraulo as Soldier #1, and JB Tadena as Private Tilden.

The "Shadows" episode was written by Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharon and directed by Vincent Misiano. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 9 PM ET on ABC.
Had to imdb Wilmer Calderon as I thought it was Fez from That 70's Show. Turns out the guy was in the first Fast & Furious movie.

Sixx 09-09-2014 11:03 AM

Also, Kyle MacLachlan as Skye's father or so I've heard.
