There's no doubt in my mind right now that Jinder Mahal, out of all world champions in WWE history, has the worst winning percentage. Of all of them.

According to profightdb, Jinder has won 17.5% of his matches in WWE.

RaginRonic 05-21-2017 10:54 PM

This win by Jinder Mahal now makes him the milestone 50th man to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the title's 54 year history.

Vince had significantly fewer matches and was able to pad out his stats with his HBK/God feud, ECW title reign, etc. Plus a few wins during the Austin feud.

Rosenberg: "Seeing Jinder makes me want to run to the gym every time I see him."
Dillinger: "That's why I'm wearing a shirt on the show."
Renee Young: "Me too!"

Causing Renee Young to wear a shirt. Jinder Mahal: top heel in the company confirmed.

Frank Drebin 05-21-2017 11:05 PM

Give the dude credit, he always had the built in "foreign heel" in him and got the body Vince loves while he was released from WWE and came back and just rolled with it.

He grabbed that brass ring, Byron.

Now can they keep this Jinder momentum going? Thats the real question. You can push anyone to the moon but can you make money off it? He needs a loooooong reign if you did this for any reason other than shock value. No Kevin Nash run ins, ya know what I'm sayin'?

Lock Jaw 05-21-2017 11:09 PM

If they give Jinder a few more guys for a stable, he might be able to pull off a JBL-like reign for Smackdown.

Gorwing market of 5 billion potential consumers. I dont know why we're asking "what now" for Jinder but not Orton. Is it because he's brown?

Because Orton has been a star for like 10 years.

Ortons been around sure. That's about it. Jinder has a clear path to a growing market. Orton apexed 10 years ago.

Ruien 05-21-2017 11:19 PM

And? You asked why people did not ask what is next. We know he will be fine and in a new storyline soon. Jinder is fresh and new so no one knows what's happening next.

No Drebin clearly made the point that this wasnt inherently profitable when there is an obvious clear path to profit. More so than with it Orton.

Destor 05-21-2017 11:25 PM

I can see this happening, and it being a complete accident on the part of WWE not realizing what they would have done here.

No it's exactly that. The wrestling market in India is growing rapidly. Jinder is doing what is essentially a Hulk Hogan gimmick there and foriegner gimmick here. Its pretty brilliant. Past few years theyve done more dates in that side of globe and theyre def interested in doing more. Even if this is just a hot shot run it establishes Jinder as a key player and should grow the brand in those markets even if you push Jinder down a bit in a month or two. And if the run goes well domestically you can keep him at the top. That is more dependant on how hot the babies your throw at him are though...

I get the whole market share argument and pushing someone of the market you want to get a foothold in. Wasn't that the whole point of Khali though? If it worked so well he'd still be doing something with WWE. Need a legit worker and if they give Jinder the torch to run with, that's fine, but if you just did it to shock people and have him lose it on SDL or the next ppv then there really wasn't much of a point to it.

Destor 05-21-2017 11:54 PM

If it were up to me ideally yoid pull Jinder from the current tour immediately and send him on a press tour in India. Play the interviews. Play him being a champion to his people. Have him do promos on one being a chapion of his people in the face of American racism. It gets heat from one market and sympathy from another.

Use his lackies to draw him back in and build up the rematch with Orton from there.

Khali played a role in the growing of the India market. But he was limited. Too limited to do much outside of one match/angle and then he was spent. But yeah khali does deserve credit. He helped things along.

Him going under in the near future doesnt matter much imo. Long run...short run...its whatever. Hes established now. Thats what matters. Tonight he was made a star.

Frank Drebin 05-22-2017 12:01 AM

Maybe....he needs to have more than one night. It's pretty easy to fall back to jobber status after a world title win. Ask guys like Jack Swagger.

What you said about the press tour is true though. Maybe not stay in character but I like the press tour idea. I don't think wwe has the foresight to do something like that though. They always fail at that kinda stuff it seems.

Destor 05-22-2017 12:03 AM

Jack Swagger was never not a jobber. Title run included. No kne bought in. It was so painfully forced, no one was behind it.

Def doesnt stay in character during the interviews. He neds to shoot promos to send back that are in character. Totally would need to ham it up as straight humble white meat baby. I didnt make that clear admittedly.

The same could happen here. The man makes the title, not the other way around. If the whole idea is to crack the Indian market, they aren't gonna do it with a guy who was champ for a month and is spinning his wheels in the mid card. He needs to be a champ and stay credible for a bit.

Nah. Guys make belts. Belts make guys. It can go either way. I he drops the belt off in the next quarter but follows it up with beating credible guys its just as good tho.

Frank Drebin 05-22-2017 12:11 AM

I dig that. All I'm saying is that he needs to be taken seriously now for him to be your spearhead into that market. No more 3MB comedy bits. He's a contender now.

Destor 05-22-2017 12:11 AM

Absolutely

Droford 05-22-2017 12:18 AM

He's going to lose the belt in 2 months to whoever wins MITB the same night. He'll beat Orton in the rematch and then get cashed in on by whoever. Sami Zayn or Rusev probably.

#1-norm-fan 05-22-2017 02:42 AM

Well this is just what happens when you split the "world title" in two. WWE says "Let's just try this out".

If Mahal ends up being a legendary heel then it's genius and anyone who wins the world title in the future looks better. But considering all the other times they randomly put the world title on a jobber because there's two of them so they can fuck around and risk destroying the credibility of one... I don't have much hope.

I could deal with Noid's terrible fantasy booking posts that I would never read when he was a fun loving babyface. However when je turned heel and thought he actually understood wrestling, i could no longer abide by such bollocks.

Noid was good people. Will never forgive you people for chasing him away. Never.

Noid seemingly got mad that people were enjoying the product.

Even before he had his Frank Grimes moment he had expressed possibly going elsewhere to discuss wrestling because he just didn't understand how anybody could enjoy what WWE was putting out.
