Noid 07-18-2021 11:14 PM

If Davey Boy Meltzer doesn't give this match a 5-star rating, he's the biggest hack in the business.

Hell that might have been the biggest pop since 2008 period. Not really, but still, brings back memories.

The socially conscious WWE fans are super upset about The Uso's title win after Jimmy got a DUI recently. Jesus Christ, people have turned into the biggest pussies these days. It's just wrestling, it's not f'n politics or anything important.

Vastardikai 07-18-2021 11:53 PM

Much of this year, I've been saying that Roman Reigns is the biggest star in wrestling and it wasn't even close.

Now that Cena's back, Roman finally has some competition on that front. Vince just pulled out that license to print money he uses every so often.

Goldberg and Cena should form a faction with a unique name like 'Main Event Group' and win multiple titles

That is how I would book the show

Even from a business perspective, it's reckless on WWE's part to reward a repeat offender.

I do side with the fans on this one since the moron is not only endangering himself but also risking the lives of others. DUI is not a joke.

I'd say it's pretty important to people who have lost loved ones to drunk drivers. Fuck titles and wrestling, the dude belongs in prison.

keeper2k 07-19-2021 01:56 AM

I rewatched the part near the end that the stream took a shit on, and I legit laughed out loud when Nakamura did the Randy Orton pose before the ladder match. Pure gold

Yeah. I mean, he’s only recklessly endangered his life and the life of others multiple times. Not like he’s got an abuse problem or anything. Not like people usually ruin their lives and lose their jobs over DUIs or anything, not counting the countless lives lost to such behavior.

Surely it’s quite alright he’s not only keeps his job, but still gets a push and a privilege of a title run while flanking the top guy in the company. Perfectly fine for somebody with multiple DUIs to not receive any sort of punishment whatsoever and actually benefits when most of us would get fired for doing the same.

The company released Eddie Guerrero, a guy 100x as talented, 3 days after getting arrested for drunk driving. 3 days. But for some reason, Jimmy somehow manages to get elevated instead. Mind boggling.

Damian Rey 2.0 07-19-2021 02:31 AM

Also that might be hands down the greatest pop Cena has ever gotten. Fucking massive.

Cena's appearance last night is everything i love about wrestling. That the guy who was hated for years and years gets the biggest pop of his career because the audience sees him as a legit savior from Roman Reigns' "reign of terror." That's the shit i love. pretty cool moment.

I would put it at 6 weeks, once the NFL season starts. Wrestling, like everything else, takes a backseat to the NFL.

drave 07-19-2021 11:03 AM

Even without the NFL, 4 weeks.

They'll over-saturate the Cena thing, and ppl will start back with the Cena Sucks / Let's go Cena chants.

How many times can they go to the well of yesteryear.....

Jordan 07-19-2021 11:21 AM

I think bitching about Cena is a bit early. He isn't likely going to be on every show and he's not going to be around after. Goldberg on the other hand is worth bitching about. Of they book Goldberg and Lash especially without Goldberg winning the title shot in some way, that will be a massive ass fart

Whatever happens in the end, WWE has got to give us Lesnar/Lashley. I think WWE has two true dream matches that we've never seen. Roman/Rock and Lashley/Lesnar. And the later would obviously be the more likely of the two. I am okay with WWE using Goldberg, but I think they should use him to elevate someone that isn't seen as a main draw. Goldberg and Riddle have a backstory even if it's "not cannon". If they weren't afraid to have Goldberg be disliked they could have him challenge Big E for his MITB contract as a way of boosting Big E, plus that's his dream match.

They could find a way to feud Miz and Morrison with Goldberg.

Anyone but Bobby for me. I just think Bobby is so hot that a match with Goldberg is a step back. If we have to have a big name part timer for Bobby give us Triple H or turn MVP and have that culminate at SummerSlam. Even though I thinkVP and Bobby are a great package.

Bobby did tweet out "who's next" so I guess that's what's happening.

Fignuts 07-19-2021 11:38 AM

I don't mind Goldberg jobbing to lashley, if the intention is to buff him up some more, for a program with lesnar.

Goldberg v Riddle in a "4th wall, this is what happened IRL and we're gonna fight" type thing might work. Show the non-RVD lite side of Riddle. it has been a long time since there was a feud where it was hard to tell if it was a shoot or not. This would be a great chance.

Definitely not bitching about Cena's return, merely predicting the "WWE universe's" behavior. The post-PPV "promo" had him even mention that he wasn't hearing Cena sucks or something like that, was hard for me to understand. The crowd will be bored quick. And honestly, Roman's heel work is a better "character" than Cena's face work could ever be. Cena should ramp up the "attitude" a bit with Roman.

i don't mind this, but the problem i have with Goldberg is has this guy even won a match in the last few years? i can't recall. Even as over as Goldberg was, there's a point where he becomes as worthless as everyone else if they keep beating him every time out

Sepholio 07-19-2021 04:28 PM

Only Goldberg match I want is with Riddle. Period.

His yearly appearances should really be things like the Rumble and maybe Survivor Series. Have him do well in the rumble and be a force in a team match at SS, make him look strong but give him the protection the those matches afford someone his age with his lack of stamina. That way he comes off looking good and they can use him to put some over every now and then and have it seem more meaningful. But what do I know?

Well, they can do Lesnar again in a few months.

Taker might be able to walk without pain enough to wrestle in a year or so.

Punk could say “fuck it” at some point and come back to a nice “holy shit” pop.

... That’s about it.

#1-norm-fan 07-19-2021 04:43 PM

And Lesnar doesn’t really mean shit anymore. He’s been handily defeated by enough midcarders now that “using him to put someone over” shouldn’t be a thing anymore.

Nah.

WWE can put on an incredible show when they want, which is why it’s so frustrating when they don’t. The PPVs have been solid for the past year, it’s the slog of weekly TV that’s the issue, and if Raw is any indication, they’re still putting on a lot of mediocre stuff.

Bad News Gertner 07-20-2021 03:00 PM

PPV's are just matches. Anyone can do that. Wily old Vince McMahon fooled them all. I wouldn't be surprised in the WWE tripled or quadrupled their audience, while AEW goes into bankruptcy. Probably absorbed by Impact Wrestling

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2021 04:40 PM

AEW fans talk about performative hatred, but that’s anti-Cena and anti-Goldberg sentiments in a nutshell. The crowds want to see stars. Then they’ll collaborate to try and turn on them. Hopefully Cena is alright. His fans deserve this moment without it being soiled. Goldberg being booed might play right into their hands.

I kind of hope they have Lashley destroy Goldberg and then have Big E challenge for the WWE Title at Madison Square Garden.

Most people were.down on his program with Ziggler, but that is how Goldberg should be used. Have him come in, do some spears, jackhammer, and win.

Goldberg no longer should be in title matches.
