I love how Kenyon says "How dare other clubs question our integrity"

Man Utd cleaned up their act as soon as he left......

Darius Vassell is joining Man City.

I bet Dazz rates him as one of the best strikers in the Premiership.

Wengerland 07-25-2005 08:58 AM

Now it's back on i'm off to see Inter sans Adriano, Javier and Cristiano Zanetti, Cambiasso, Veron, Cordoba, Davids, Cruz, van der Meyde, Toldo and Kily Gonzalez tonight.

deathtrap 07-25-2005 09:19 AM

Be quiet RBF, Vassell will score more than Lua Lua.

Doink 07-25-2005 10:11 AM

He's all yours Jul 25 2005
Eric Paylor, Evening Gazette

Dutch superstar Edgar Davids is to be offered to Boro on a year-long loan.

Inter Milan chief and former Boro striker Marco Branca has revealed that Davids will definitely play in the Premiership this season.

Branca is also ready to offer full-back Francesco Coco on loan to English clubs.

Branca, referring to both players, said: "There is no chance right now that their contracts will be rescinded.

"But they need to play football regularly and now have to find a club who can offer them that possibility.

"They have many admirers in England and will play there."

'Spurs and West Ham are also keeping an eye on the situation while Everton have held initial talks over Davids'

The only sticking point could be the players wages as Inter will want whoever takes either player to pay the majority of the players wages.

it's a fucking charity game you dumb shit. You realise he was on the World XI, i.e. countries outside of Europe. They had to have a certain percentage for African representation or they would've looked bad. Besides which he was a fucking sub, if he was everything you seem to fucking think he is he would've started ahead of Eto'o and/or won African Footballer of the Year, like he seemed convinced he was going to do. But no, he won fuck all and ran around like he was on speed trying his hardest while everyone else treated it as a kickabout.

Come on fellas, remember the Fifa motto, fair play.

Wengerland 07-25-2005 12:16 PM

Nah, i really did mean without. They've generally bought a reserve side with about 6 first team players - Martins, Solari, Stankovic, Materazzi, Mihajlovic and Pizarro. Mihajlovic and Pizarro may not start infront of Cordoba and Veron respectively too.

Ogen 07-25-2005 01:00 PM

Happy to see Vassel go as I want us to bring in another striker but wouldn't have wanted 5 of them since it'd mean Moore geting fuck all chances. This way works out well if we can pull in someone a bit proven.

deathtrap 07-25-2005 01:02 PM

Vassell scored 3 last season in the league.

Rob Ban Fan 07-25-2005 01:25 PM

Not according to the Aston Villa official site or the BBC. He got 2 in the league and 1 in the league cup but its not like 21 (4) 3 is great either ;)

Lee Hendrie's stats last seasons were 25 (4) 5

not that that means anything.

El Capitano Gatisto 07-25-2005 01:27 PM

Vassell spent large amounts of last season seriously injured.

He's a disaster area. Has he played a full season yet? He could be a decent enough player if he could go a couple of weeks without hurting himself.

Rob Ban Fan 07-25-2005 01:34 PM

I know he was injured, thats fair enough. It doesn't mean he isn't terrible though. The only thing he has his pace, he's a worse finisher than Henri Camara.

El Capitano Gatisto 07-25-2005 01:37 PM

I disagree, I think Vassell is a decent footballer, he's a good runner with the ball. Like Bellamy: not much of a scorer, but has enough to cause even good defenders some trouble.

Camara has a touch like the proverbial rapist.

Rob Ban Fan 07-25-2005 01:41 PM

I dunno, he's built better than Bellamy but he doesn't use the power and pace to his advantage by just running at people, like Yak does (well, did before he got lazy and stopped running)

He's just fast.

El Capitano Gatisto 07-25-2005 01:56 PM

Maybe you are just a racist.

Rob Ban Fan 07-25-2005 02:03 PM

its quite possible, i've never really liked Samuel Eto'o and i don't know why. Racism seems logical i suppose.

packt up 07-25-2005 02:10 PM

Vassel is shite for villa decent for England, I wouldn't even want him on a free. Bellamy is superior in every way.

El Capitano Gatisto 07-25-2005 02:15 PM

I don't think there's a great deal of difference between them, aside from skin colour of course. They both spend inordinate amounts of time injured, and can't finish for shit.

Rob 07-25-2005 02:50 PM

Vassell is fucking shite. How the hell can anyone rate him?

City would be better off starting with Bradley Wright-Phillips than this doughnut.

I don't think he is amazing, but he is worthy of being at at least a half decent Premiership team, like Villa or Boro. And the last sentence is void and missing the point, I made it clear I wasn't talking about what he did in the match but the fact he was in it.

I won't have a bad word said against Lucas, you filthy blaggard. A few years back, he was one of the best defenders in England. Too bad his knees are fucked now, we could have used him this season. :'(

Rob Ban Fan 07-25-2005 08:18 PM

I like Lucas Radabe, he got a standing ovation from your lot in the match we beat you 2-1 thanks to goals from Yakubu and Lua Lua with Ian Harte scoring a dodgy penalty making for a nervy last 10 minutes with Shaka making a wondersave from Nick Barmby with about 10 seconds left that effectively relegated you because there was no way you'd catch us. Anyway.

The point is, you didn't have to be a world class player to be picked.

diothoir 07-25-2005 08:44 PM

Fair enough I suppose, the guy was fucked by last season. At least he got a good send off.

Wengerland 07-26-2005 07:10 AM

David Pizarro was class last night, top signing for Inter. Martins didn't play though  The Inter fans that came along were shit though, i wasn't expecting them to sing or anything but they didn't even clap their players when they were subbed, with the exception of Solari.

I'm also fearing Connolly might leave, he was supposed to have been fit for last night but wasn't even on the bench. Dion and de Vries up front won't cut it, no pace.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-26-2005 10:19 AM

"star power"

"Phil Neville"

:$!

El Capitano Gatisto 07-26-2005 10:20 AM

Rob 07-26-2005 12:40 PM

Turns out we have had bids for him and turned them down.

I refuse to Rosk. 07-26-2005 01:45 PM

Davids has gone to Spurs

They need some experienced players to take them forward, they should be in Europe next season

Mr. Monday Morning 07-26-2005 03:03 PM

On a free, as well

Then again it's mainly cause Inter want to clear the wage bill to make way for Figo. There's talk Van Der Meyde and/or Coco might wind up at Everton also, although now that Davids has moved I dunno how that'll affect those two.

deathtrap 07-26-2005 03:16 PM

I reckon Dio Kamara and Robert Earnshaw will be a good front two for WBA.

Can't see why we don't go for him if Figo's going to Inter

Anyway, Sami Hyypia has been utter wank in the first half. He looks seriously slow now, and Carragher has bailed him out twice.

Speaking of Carragher.....WHAT A GOAL

As for Cisse, good finish, always looks threatening.....serious lacks the fundamentals. One finish in 5 just isn't gonna be good enough.

Dazz 07-26-2005 03:57 PM

I refuse to believe that Davids has gone to Spurs until he holds up a Yiddo shirt with a name and number on it. He hasn't even negotiated personal terms yet.

Wengerland 07-26-2005 04:08 PM

Spurs have got loads of midfielders, that said, someone like Davids is probably what they need. Experienced and his all action game would allow Carrick to play it about.

I guess Inter don't need him anyway, and like i say, Pizarro looks like being a fine signing.

El Capitano Gatisto 07-26-2005 04:51 PM

Davids can play it about better than Carrick can. He's real class.

Depends on whether Davids is still up for it or not, or whether he's just after a payday in London. He was immense for Barcelona the season before last. Anything like that form, and he'll slap everyone's balls.

Dazz 07-26-2005 05:08 PM

If he actually goes to the Yids then Maka will sort him out at the end of August

Ringmaster Mastodon 07-26-2005 05:18 PM

I'd hope that Davids has signed for Spurs, but you've got to remember that he was confirmed to be signing for both them and Chelsea last year. He'll probably change his mind at the last minute..

Rob 07-26-2005 05:42 PM

Davids was shite last season whenever I saw him. Not surprised it's a free either since he went to Inter on a free in the first place.

Van Der Mayde has been linked with Everton for well over a year now. I think he might have even turned down a move there at one point.

Doink 07-27-2005 05:49 AM

Darius Vassell has completed his £2 million move to Manchester City from Aston Villa.

Vassell left Villa's pre-season tour of Sweden to fly to Manchester to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms after the two clubs agreed a fee on Monday.

The 25-year-old has now signed a four-year contract at The City of Manchester Stadium, ending his seven-year association with his only professional club.

Vassell has 22 England caps to his name but struggled last season with injuries, managing just two goals for Villa.

David O'Leary had originally signalled his intention to keep Vassell at Villa Park, but decided to allow him to join Stuart Pearce's outfit.

Pearce is rebuilding following the departure of Shaun Wright-Phillips, and has now signed a new-look strike force with Vassell joining Andy Cole at the club.

Vassell will join Pearce's troops for training on Wednesday and will make his debut against either Sheffield Wednesday or Stoke, who face City over the weekend in pre-season friendlies.

Wengerland 07-27-2005 06:40 AM

Jonathan Woodgate has rubbished reports that has suffered another setback and is considering hanging up his boots.

It was widely reported that the Real Madrid defender had broken down in training once again and looked no closer to making his debut following his £13.8m move from Newcastle a year ago.

Woodgate was said to be considering retirement if specialists continue to draw a blank on his recurring thigh problem.

But Woodgate insists that there is no problem, saying: "My rehabilitation has been going exactly to plan. There’s been no breakdown and I’m going to Austria with the rest of the squad next week as planned."

:wtf:

Doink 07-27-2005 12:05 PM
