I never thought I'd be happy to see the strap on Cena again.

Yeah crowd was pretty dead really.
Cena sucks, I wish rabies upon him. |
Well that was one of the top 5 gayest things I've ever seen

God I dont even like Samoa Joe and I'd rather see him with the title than Cena
|
Dont ask why I used Samoa Joe I was just looking at my avatar

This has been the must fucked up Rumble ever.
Someone just decided it'd be fun to write a PPV while on LSD. I guarantee it. |
Ahh Cena is champ again and I am officialy happy.
Flame me if you will but if WWE hgad just booked him a little differently with the belt in the first place they would never have had to hot shot it. |
Mark Henry in a Main Event. That's fucking pathetic. Cmon now, really.

He bores me now. That was shite Fucking shite That was worth one penny. |
And that's why the rumble wasn't last I guess.

I fucking called Taker coming back in the chat.
But I wasn't actually serious. :nono: That was fucked up. |
if the rumble would have been last,
people would be left with the vision that their main event at wrestlemania would have REY (Junior Division) MYSTERIO riding in on the ghost of Eddy. in all honesty, putting Angle/Henry last was a good note, because the best thing of the night was Angle retaining. |

this ppv sucked.
mysterio won the royal rumble - sick of him and i just can't take him seriously as a champion in the long run. on top of that i felt like Orton should've won. cena won the title - edge was actually a good enough heel to get cena a face reaction. also, cena needs to have the belt kept off of him for a while until mania. angle vs henry - this match was overall boring, even though i liked that angle was fully cheating all the way through the end of the match. crowd was really dull - at first i thought the crowd was just bored with the cena vs edge match but they overall didn't seem to into the angle vs henry match. |

Cena/Edge match: I don't know. Even though Edge was getting those "ratings", the fact is that I don't think anyone could really get used to seeing Edge as a serious main eventer just yet, as if they just rushed him in there to change up the storyline (and free up their Wrestlemania card from him somewhat because he used up his MITB). Maybe a Cena heel turn is in the works (even though I can admit that I'm not sure if I'm ready to see a Cena heel turn just yet, he's getting too many pops still to try to turn him, even if alot of people are booing him in some way). Angle: Even though that was a weak finish, it was a surprisingly interesting match, even if in the least bit. I would've thrown my remote at the TV screen if Henry won. The Undertaker thing is puzzling now in the way that I don't know who'll be the face and who'll be the heel. Angle would have the quickest face run in WWE history if he is to be the heel. Then again, he has played a good heel recently. But how long has it been since we've seen a heel Undertaker? Or will this be face vs. face? I am hoping they don't fuck up this one. Crowd: They were into the Rumble (for good reason), and were behind Cena (and REALLY into that Crusierweight Open). But you have a point there. The crowd didn't seem too into it tonight, but that may have been because it was a sucky undercard, and the Rumble probably wore them out too much (I know I got my throat shot when I marked out for Rey winning. I know I blew my fucking load over that one). |

I do have to say that was one fucked up PPV. |
Ok, overall it was a pretty lame ppv. The Rumble should always be last, especially in this case because that seemed to be the only match the crowd was into at all.
I actually marked out a bit when Rey won. Before Eddie died, I felt like they were building him up to be a viable main eventer, so I don't see how Eddie's death made any difference. If that was the case, it would of come down to Rey and Chavo in the end. On another note, the ring stayed empty for far to long. I like my Rumbles filled with mayhem and madness. We got down to number 18 or so before there was more than 5 people in the ring. The only problem I have with Rey winning is that he started the Rumble. It was amazing when Michales did it, amazing when Benoit did it, now it's just cliche. As much as I hate Edge, I'm disappointed he lost the title back to Cena so quickly. I was bored with Cena months ago and with Edge I felt we had a fresh heel champion. Maybe I'm wrong, but if you have a face champion, and you sell him as a face, and the fans turn on him because they realize just how lame the character/matches are, I think logic would dictate that Cena may not be the way to go. Or maybe it's time to turn him back to heel? Regardless, I just feel that anybody would be better than Cena right now. He just doesn't have "IT" anymore. As for Henry vs Angle. Talk about boring. Not even the greatness of Angle made this match enjoyable. Why do they keep bringing Henry back? He'll be gone in two months again, guarenteed. |
He can take that hand with him.

Now that I've had a little time to think about tonight's event, there are a couple of things that stand out.

The Cruiserweight Invitational was the best cruiser match WWE has put on in ages. I really miss the WCW Cruiser division, and that was as close as they've come to a WCW match in recent memory.
The Rumble was subpar, sure, but the more that I think about it, I like the choice of Rey winning it. Yeah, it probably made more sense for Orton to win, but look at it this way: They're never going to have a better opportunity with Mysterio. Orton will be around for years, and will always be a viable contender. Mysterio is riding an unprecedented (for him) wave of sympathy right now, and the crowd loves him because of it. If WWE ever wanted to run with him, this is the only opportunity they're ever going to get. They can hold off on Orton until 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, he's not going anywhere. Rey's main-event credibility is.
I think the reason the crowd died was the same reason I lost interest. Who on Earth thought it was a better idea to end the show with those title matches than end it with arguably the most over babyface in the company winning the biggest match of his life? After Rey won, everything else was downhill, including the crowd reaction. On EWR, you would have gotten a message from your road agents telling you that you're an idiot for booking subpar matches after a hot one.
I'm still reserving judgment on the Spirit Squad. I thought Eugene was going to be awful, and even though at this point I'm pretty sick of him, he's been entertaining. I thought Carlito Caribbean Cool was an idiotic gimmick, but he's become one of my favorites. And I knew that The Boogeyman was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen, but Marty Wright plays him so over-the-top that you can't help but be amused. I'm going to wait and see where they're going with this before I call for Vince's head.
I never ever EVER EVER EVER EVER want to see someone enter at #1 or #2 win the Royal Rumble again. It's happened four times in nineteen years! We get it, they overcame the odds to earn their title shot. Now tell us a new story.
Whoever's working with Ashley is doing a good job. She's still nowhere near Trish, Mickie, or Vickie's level as a wrestler, but she's not the train wreck waiting to happen that she was at first. She and Mickie put on a pretty good match. Sadly, it had better psychology than the WWE Title match, imo.
|
Once again loopy sums it up perfectly. :y:

Yeah, that PPV was pretty horrible. The cruiserweight match was really fun to watch, IMO, and it had some awesome spots (glad to see that Helms is on SD hopefully). The women's match was pretty pitiful I thought. JBL/Boogeyman was surprising, only because I didn't think that JBL would get squashed. Pretty boring match, but interesting to see Boogeyman finally compete for a little bit. And btw..why did he keep flipping when he was selling moves?
If this Rumble had a predictable storyline, it would have been the worst Rumble that I've seen, but because I had a handful of guys who I thought could win, and they all made it to the final 4, I thought it was really fun to watch. I marked out when Rey Rey won, and I'm glad that the WWE is finally pushing Rey Rey, as this was probably one of their last chances. The Edge/Cena match was pretty boring, and I was expecting that big smoke machine to lead to an awesome Edge entrance, but eh, whatever. The match itself was pretty generic and boring. I mean, before the finish they couldn't let Edge hit a spear to add a little drama? And the fact that Cena is trying to make that STF he applies look credible is crazy, because when he didn't cover Edge, I just said "Oh no!" and realized that Edge was going to tap to that crap. Pretty disappointing. Also, I was pissed that Edge got the belt taken off him so quickly. And I agree that the ratings were because of Edge, and that it was something fresh and new that the people wanted to see. The whole sex segment kicked off his title reign as if to show viewers that this will be far different than Cena's recent reign, and I think those people kept coming back for more as he was champ, and in the meantime were treated to a pretty awesome TLC w/Flair. But yea, too bad for Edge. Angle/Henry was pretty horrible to watch, because the fact that it was going to conclude the show, and also just how horrible Henry is in the ring. Not even Kurt could have saved this match, but he tried his best. I wasn't really expecting anything from this match, but I'm just glad Angle retained. Also, the ending with Taker was pretty sharp, but it was also a bit lame. At least they started to build the No Way Out main event, which can be a good match. |
That may have been the fakest lightning I've ever seen
|
The show was...alright. I knew the undercard would be shit going in, and i basically ordered it (well, split it with my friend) for the Rumble match.
-The CW match was good stuff. Loved the SSP from London to the outside. Glad Helms won. -Ashley/Mickie was predictably bad. I loved hearing the crowd just completely turn on the match. -I don't like JBL, but c'mon WWE, he was Champ for 10 months, and now you have the Boogeyman pin him cleanly? -Glad Rey won the rumble, even though I'm sure he won't make it to Mania. Lashley looked good, but I would have liked to have seen him eliminate either Kane or Show (or both) before he went out. -WWE Writer 1: How can we get the other half of the crowd to like Cena? WWE Writer 2-Well, we could have him work on his in ring skills, we could change his character up... WWE Writer 1-Nah, that won't work. Let's just give him a big gay walkway to come out on. WWE Writer 2-Genius. -So Edge dominates Cena for most of the match, then quickly taps out after an STF. That's great. -Why have Angle play the heel and look like a coward? Please fire Henry now. Overall, the show's like a 4/10. |
Hey Blitz its the STFU
|
Just came back from the Rumble and yeah, it was fun show but... BUT there were many many faults. One, Rey won. Sure, as mentioned no better time than now, but Rey as champ? Please. BTW does Rey get some supernatural powers from Eddie to win or something? I dunno, Rumble itself was fun but that ruined it.
Two, Cena wins again. The crowd at first hated Cena but during the match, somewhere the kids and girls around my area couldn't help but cheer their little heads out. The small Cena Sucks chant couldn't have this one. Loudest reactions were for RVD and Rey of course and abit of Cena. CW Invitational and Rumble were the fun matches that were really loud. I'll write more tomorrow as I'm tired and such. BTW Taker and Lashley outside of the show, yea, huge mofos. |
Cena/Edge was such a bland match. What a terrible way to bury Edge (not that I really care), he basically ran away from Cena in the early going, beat him up for a good 10 minutes then lost after 5 moves or so, horrible. Not to mention that is easily the worst STF ever.
Undertaker coming back pointlessly was just a major WTF moment. I thought I was watching the Survivor Series again for a minute. I guess that's UT's new gimmick. |
one thing i'd like to say that i enjoyed about edge vs cena was cena's entrance. that was actually pretty cool.
|
Great, Cena wins the title again. Now for several more months of Rawtardation.
|
Just when the wwe actually does something right they turn around and do something of extreme stupidity.
Edge has proven how good he can be as champ and showed more in his few weeks as wwe champion than Cena did in his 11 months with the strap. He got better ratings and way more entertaining. It shows that experience should be looked at heavily when deciding who should lead the company. Cenas first run as champ was a disaster. If it wasn’t for Jericho and Angle it would have been much worse. Cena and the wwe dropped the ball big time. And the problem is that neither Cena or wwe are willing to do anything different. And when Cena does become more entertaining when he becomes more experienced and when the wwe writers finally wake up to themselves the fans will be sick of him being on top as a face. All face main eventers have a limited shell-life and the fans will be constantly booing him in a matter of time and perhaps his career will be on saving as a face anyway. So Edge losing the belt didn’t seem like that big of a deal but it may of massive ramifications for the future. |

Not meaning to change the subject, I just wanted to say:
I love Gregory Helm's music. Just wanted to get that off my chest. |
Here's my thoughts on The Royal Rumble.
Open Invitational Match for The Cruiserweight Championship. This was the best match of the night IMO. Great Cruiserweight moves and it's probably the first Cruiserweight Match that went on for more than 3 minutes. It was a good surprise when Gregory Helms' music played and then he won. I'm thinking that the WWE are making it like this. If a RAW guy wins a SmackDown! Title, he's on SmackDown! and vice versa, just so they can have more people to Draft for the Lottery. Mickie James VS Ashley. VERY bad match. They just stuck to oneside of the ring and did the same kinds of moves over and over again. Mickie James was kinda sloppy on the night and it doesn't look like Ashley has learnt anything from her training. But maybe she was just scared to be infront of millions of people at The Royal Rumble. The Boogeyman VS JBL. This match was OK, but very short. They were probably just using it to show off The Boogeyman, by making him defeat a former WWE Champion and one of the best WWE Champions in recents years in under 5 minutes. The Royal Rumble Match. OK, why the HELL is The Royal Rumble Match the 4th match of the night? The reason the PPV is called Royal Rumble is because that's the main thing. Anyway, The Royal Rumble match was really really bad. Triple H entering in at Number 1 and Rey entering at Number 2 on Eddie's lowrider?:wtf: The Royal Rumble match was really slow to start. Entrant number 11 was Carlito, and that's when it got a little bit good. Because before Carlito entered, the maximum amount of wrestlers in the ring at a time was 3. The best part of the Rumble IMO was when RVD entered at number 20. And again, we have a Royal Rumble entrant that was not actually eliminated from the Rumble. That being Chavo. Chavo went through the ropes and climbed to the top and Triple H knocked him off. But the rules state that you have to go OVER THE TOP ROPE to be eliminated. Then we come to the last two. Again a SmackDown Superstar is gonna win it. But the way they ended the match was just crap. I was watching the 2000 Royal Rumble on YouTube on Friday and I saw The Big Show pick up The Rock and go to all 4 sides of the ring before running toward the stage to eliminate The Rock, but The Rock hangs on to the ropes and flips The Big Show over with his legs to win. Fast forward 6 years and Randy Orton picks up Rey and goes to all 4 sides of the ring, before running towards the stage to eliminate Rey, but Rey holds on to the ropes and flips Orton over with his feet to win. That's right. They copied what excactly happend 6 years ago. I think Rey only won The Rumble for two reasons. 1: Rey won the Rumble because Eddie died and everyone feels sorry for him. 2: Rey is getting the storyline Eddie was originaly suppose to have. So overall The Royal Rumble match sucked. Goldust was a really good surprise also, he looks like he's lost weight. I hope he goes to RAW. John Cena VS Edge. What the hell is that thing? That's what I said when I saw the platform getting lowered. I thought it was The Undertaker or something. Then I hear Cena's music, and then I wanna find a gun so I can shoot myself. Edge was really good in the match. He's great at playing a heel. But Cena, as usual sucked in the match. And why are they making Cena win by submission? If you are gonna make him win, then make him win by pin. I knew Cena was gonna win, because The WWE never changed the Title when Edge won it. But I put Edge down to win on the Tipsters League because I though he was gonna get a surprise win. When Edge tapped to the STF (I refuse to call it the STFU) and Cena was holding the Title above his head, I wanted to find that gun I was looking for so I can shoot the TV then shoot myself. The Main Event: Kurt Angle VS Mark Henry. That's the first and only Main Event/World Heavyweight Championship shot Mark Henry is ever gonna get. This was a bad match also. Not much was happening in the ring and IMO Angle makes a really bad face. Angle should stay heel. Henry was acting like the unstoppable monster and Angle was the guy that was against the odds. The usual SmackDown! matches. Something unusual happened in this match though. The ref got knocked down. You never see that in SmackDown! Main Events. Angle won the match and was celebrating, until The Undertaker comes out, does his usual mind games and goes away. That it.:| So overall The Royal Rumble was 99% crap. The worst Royal Rumble ever and probably and hopfully the worst PPV of the year. |
The CW match was very enjoyable. I loved London's dropkick into a pin.
The women's match and JBL/BOOGEY match I hated since the rumble was in the middle of the card, it already set the stage for my disappointment. I agree that noone should ever be coming in at number 1 or 2 and win. Its so overused now, I feel like it cheapens the other times it happened because its not special anymore. whoever put angle/henry last and whoever thought up Cena's spaceship should be fired.. i know this has all been said, just had to get it off my chest after a terrible rumble. |
Waaaah waaaah waaaah you guys are a bunch of whiney penises.
What do you expect with Mark Henry in the main event, they had to spice things up with the Taker ending. Lightning was pretty shitty though. Anyone else notice how the pyro was always off timing? Right from the begining to the end of the show, pyro timing was off. Boogeyman = CW match was interesting, Helms seems abit big for the division though. The Rumble not being last on the show is nothing new so you cant really moan about that. It was the first time in ages that happened anyway. Rey winning was good, him clinging to the bottom rope for most of the time was not. Be interesting to see what happens going into Mania. Cena's entrance was completly WTF. Him winning the title back made almost as much sense. |
Good going Cool King on your review. You took the words and cheeseburgers right out of my mouth.
Heres my short review of the RR. Cruiserweight open - Great. Only complaint here is if Helms is staying on Raw. Ashley vs. Micke - Hard to watch because Ashley can't wrestle. Otherwise, great story between Mickie and Trish. JBL vs. Boogeyman - Dud. Royal Rumble - It is supposed to be a brawl the entire time. Let the ring fill up. I'm tired of seeing everyone get tossed out immediatly. It wasn't just anyone though, LASHLEY, BIG SHOW, KANE, were all tossed out in like under 5 minutes. Lashley lasted like 2. He just gave Kane the Dominator. I know WWE wants to show how powerful he is, but he was a dud. So was Flair, Kane, and Big Show. Lots of other duds, too. The second half of the rumble was good where it filled up. But Orlando Jordan should have been in the ring with Booker T. Orton and Booker T should have faced off. Lashley and Masters should have faced off. MNM should not have gotten eliminated at the same time cause they're a tag team. I was just so pissed when watching when everyone got eliminated after another. Kind of dissapointing to see Rey win for some reason. It was obvious when he came in at number 2 and reading the stuff online. Overall, bad match. I wanted to be surprised on who would win, like RVD or Carlito. Good to see Tatanka, Goldust, and Eugene though. Cena vs. Edge. - DAMNIT! After this match I literally put my hand down my throut and wanted to puke. Edge carried the match, Edge is really great in the ring, Cena sucks, and they give it back to Cena. :foc: Kurt vs. Henry - Why was this the last match? Mark Henry sucks. This match sucked. Worst PPV I've seen in a long time. Seriously. I've enjoyed those little Smackdown and Raw PPV's last year, but this PPV just sucked. |
Was it just me or was the ending to the Womens match totally botched?
When I saw it i thought they botched the powerbomb and Ashley landed on her head. Mickie would go for the pin and Ashley would just kick out... this is why Trish hesitated with the pin count. Trish was thinking "Fuck, Ashley is meant to kick out. Fuck it anyway, I have to count the 3 now". I think Ashley just paniced and wanted to end the match. I'm sure they had a planned finish but they just had to end it there. Thoughts? |
Yeah, it was botched.
Just watched the whole royal rumble match again. It's actually not that bad. |
I guess I'll just post my Top 5 Best and Worst Bits.
Top 5 Worst Bits. 1. The PPV istself. 2. Cena winning the Title Back.:foc: 3. Rey winning The Rumble. 4. Rey entering in Eddie's Lowrider. 5. The Royal Rumble Match. Top 5 Best Bits. 1. Rob Van Dam returning.:D 2. The Open Invitational Match for The Cruiserweight Championship. 3. Goldust returning. 4. Edge working a good match. 5. Seeing the Boogeyman do his thing. |
I actually think that Undertaker took the number 1 spot in holding down powers. As much as I love Angle in the main event, it shouldn't have been. But Undertaker's 7,485,237th return actually was put over Cena winning and the Rumble match itself. The Rumble match should always be the main event of the Royal Rumble.
CW open was a great match. Mickie/Trish wasn't that great. Neither was JBL/Boogeyman. But I still can't believe JBL jobbed so quickly. The Rumble match had its highs and lows. Rey winning was cool, and I think it is his time to really be a main-eventer. Some of the eliminations were odd, such as Goldust jumping over the top rope. Some decent surprise entrants with Tatanka, Goldust, and Eugene. Though I really thought the retard gimmick would have been dropped before he returned. There were 2 things that I did like with the Rumble itself. The fact that 2 guys did not hit the ring at the same time again. And the fact that there were numerous guys who had a chance at winning it. Edge/Cena wasn't that great either. The buildup to the entrance was good, but when Cena's music hit, it was lame. Then Cena winning the title back will only bring back the boos he had when he was champ. |
Anybody notice Rey puking toward the end of the Rumble?
