They better take Lendale White or Deangelo now or else I will flip

Titans + Leinart = Instant Win.

Gonzo 03-15-2006 08:36 PM

Leinart to the Titans seems like a very distinct possibility, Norm Chow, they just signed David Givens. They have Drew Bennett, plus Chris Brown is a decent running back as well.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-16-2006 02:46 AM

McGinest signed with the Browns

Packers signed Pickett from the Rams

Chris Hope signed with the Titans

The Icon of Elisim 03-16-2006 01:18 PM

Josh McCown signs with the Lions, Harrington is most definetly gone

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-16-2006 01:26 PM

I'm glad I spent 50 dollars on a McGinest Jersey before last season now :(

Gonzo 03-16-2006 01:31 PM

Yeah what a pain in the ass that is. I always think about that whenever I buy a jersey. I've only bought player's jerseys when I know they aren't going anywhere. I have Eli (Blue), Plaxico (White), Tiki (Old White), Shockey (Blue), Strahan (Blue). Those guys aren't going anywhere, and if they do it will be at the very end of their careers, in which they would just get remembered for being Giants anyway.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-16-2006 01:45 PM

Yea the only "save bet" is probably Brady but that is what all the girls rock. Don't wanna look like i'm gay or something.

Keyshawn isn't that bad.

DrA 03-16-2006 05:31 PM

I think that these teams that are spending all of this money on free agency are going to ultimately regret it.

Usually there's a reason why that player was not signed back by his team in the first place. So now Washington has this stud safety in Adam Archuleta, as an example, but no one told the team about his bad knee (hypothetically). Now you have a gimp playing safety who you paid tons of money on and there's not really much you can do about it.

That's not the case with all players, obviously, but there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on with all of this.

The Icon of Elisim 03-16-2006 06:01 PM

Thats true but you also have to look at how many new coaches there are this year that are trying to get guys that fit their system. They are trying to get their building blocks in place and maybe a veteran doesn't fit that mold. And its not just 1st year coaches that have to do this, lots of second year guys are in the same boat.

Gonzo 03-16-2006 08:25 PM

This years offseason seems like a fantasy draft in Madden, thats the best way I can describe it.

Archuleta has the craziest workout I've ever seen. When he does bench presses he throws it off of his catches then catches it as it comes back down. He is a sick fuck, I heard he was playing shitty lately in St. Louis though. That's why I was surprised to see him get signed by the Redskins. I guess they just like to throw money around.

Yeah, he had a decent stretch in 05 but can never seem to keep his hands on the ball for the INT. Gets beat taking risks to get the pick, and ends up short 99% of the time.

I read he has had messed up vertebrae in his back for like a year and a half now, dunno if he ever got it fixed.

There was an article I read somewhere about Keyshaun and Belichick and how they really got along when they were at the Jets, and the possibility the Pats might sign him to replace Givens. Keyshaun vs Brady in a shouting match would do numbers :shifty:

If TO has agreed to go to Dallas they're probably gonna wait til Monday so Jerry Jones can come back from his vacation and do the announcement.

Tuna will not be like Andy Reid. Tuna knows exactly how to handle nutjobs. His pride won't prevent him from cutting or trading a player. He will send Owens packing right away.

A healthy Culpepper has more potential than Kitna/McCown/S.King combined. Obviously, noone knows how he's gonna recover from knee surgery. I wouldn't give up on the guy because he has one bad season. Before that, he put up some sick numbers. And yes, one could argue it was all because of Randy Moss..but if any team has a bright future at the WR position it's Detroit.

You can't argue it was Randy Moss. The bulk of Pepp's yards came to Wiggins and Burleson when he set the record for yards from scrimmage by a QB( player?)

But I don't think BCDub was ripping on Pep. Just that the Lions are a black hole, and Pep would most likely suck there. His bad season last year was due to a lot of things. It was not a situation conducive to success.

But I am not happy at all about Pep leaving. I wish I knew the truth, because I want to side with Pep, I honestly do. The new regime is starting off as horribly as the last. We will lose Burleson, my favorite player, who won't have anyone quality throwing him the ball anymore... and QBs like Pep come along only once every 15 years maybe for a team, if they're lucky. Now the 'fins FINALLY get their answer to Marino. Moss was one of the greatest personalities in pro sports. He was always good for a quote or an antic, and they were becoming increasingly lovable. A Pep for Moss trade would have been nice; the only problem is that BJ can't throw the ball over 10 yards.

We're screwed. :(

Jerichoholic 03-18-2006 06:50 PM

aaaaaaaaand it is a official, TO is a Cowboy.

I have mixed feelings, he is getting payed more here, which could keep him happy.

As long as he is producing the Cowboys offense could be sick. He should not only open up Terry Glenn to more one on one coverage, but he should open up huge holes for Barber and Jones to run through. Time will tell I suppose, but overall I'm pretty pumped.

Gonzo 03-19-2006 01:39 PM

Kinda gay that TO stayed in the division but he isn't even that hard to stop. The Giants have had games when they shut him down and games where he torched them, it all depends on the coaching scheme. When he was with San Fran we shut him down all game on opening day, until we changed the scheme in the last few minutes where he got one huge play.

Since we signed a bunch of new guys in the secondary I'm not really worried about them as a threat, Sam Madison, Will Demps, R.W. McQuarters. Gibril is pretty buc, and hopefully Willy Peterson comes back 100% from his injury.

Crimson 03-19-2006 02:41 PM

Giants have done some good things, they should be favored to win the division. Cowboys should be there, Redskins looks improved, and the Eagles are still the Eagles..looks like a tough division!

Well that isn't shutting him down, is it?

And Terrell Owens is not an easy receiver to shut down, no matter who your team is. If that was the case he wouldn't have 1,500 yards and fifteen touchdowns a year.

I could come back at you with something about Carson Palmer's injury, the Bengals losing, anything like that but lets not get into that.

I would say holding someone to a few catches is shutting them down, TO is a great player I'm not denying him anything in that respect. I'm just saying he doesn't scare me that much.

Just look at some of the credentials.

Only receiver besides Jerry Rice to have 5 or more seasons with 13 or more receiving TD's in a regular season.
Has had 103 total touchdowns.
Averaged one touchdown per game in 2001 and 2004.
Has had six 1,000 yard seasons, including five consecutive (2000-2004).
Holds NFL record 20 receptions in a single game.
Reached 100 catches in only 14 games in 2002.
Is tied for second all time in receiving touchdowns on Monday Night Football with seven.
Led the league in receiving touchdowns for two consecutive seasons.

I would be scared of him.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-21-2006 03:23 AM

I've always wondered this, why are the Cowboys in the NFC East?

AlphaBean 03-21-2006 03:58 AM

Same reason the Bucs were in the NFC Central.

Dunno, who else would be in the east? Maybe the Bucs, or an AFC team would switch. But then the Cowboys are a "storied franchise," and the rivalries they have the NFL probably doesn't want to break up.

TBH, the Bucs/Vikings rivalry was really starting to heat up as well -- from Dungy telling Green to pass on Sapp because he was too fat then drafting him himself,, to the even record between the two -- so fucking even that the Vikings went 15-1 because of the Bucs.

Dunno, whatever. I guess the MN/Tampa markets aren't big enough to do that. :(

This is good to hear. If we didn't get Lavar, which is what its looking like, I wanted one of the DT's in FA that were rumored. If we get a stud DT who can stuff the line, Pierce can do what he does best and tackle like a machine. With a DT like Jackson, we really wouldn't need another stud LB.

Guess it doesn't really matter the locations because they only play games once a week, so it's not like travel needs be a factor when dividing up the teams.
