The Optimist 03-26-2007 10:54 PM

Yeah, but if Batista hadn't gotten hurt he and Cena might be on the exact same level.

KingofOldSchool 03-26-2007 10:54 PM

Taker is the biggest babyface in the company.

I was just referring to the fact that he's an almost seven foot tall zombie cowboy. I don't know. Just not the image I get when I think of a man the common folk can get behind.

KingofOldSchool 03-26-2007 10:59 PM

Well Cena's going to win now.

But well duh.

Corndad 03-26-2007 10:59 PM

THERE'S A FUCKIN GOD...that was worth my 2 hours of waiting

Batista and The Undertaker vs. John Cena and Shawn Michaels: I have to say that I believe Cena and HBK have done a much better job with the build up as they're doing actual confrontations and teasing while Undertaker does his usual thing and Batista jumps the gun early. Neither has been bad don't get me wrong but I'm definitely more interested in the WWE Title match. At least Cena's reaction from the crowd is better than the last time he was here. The ladies must've convinced their men there's nothing to be jealous of. Ooh, glow sticks. How original. Reminds me of a story: My friend, David, who's a drummer, tried out some glowsticks as part of a performance one night. He gets tired of them and tosses them towards the rest of us in the crowd. I later confront him about it and point out that he almost hit his girlfriend in the face. His reaction? "You mean I missed?" Ah, Dave. Speaking of Daves, hair is definitely best for him. There's not a whole lot of time left here unless I'm missing something. You can tell because Undertaker rushes his entrance. Taker opens up on Cena. Cena: Why me??? Cena counters a clothesline and fires away in the corner. Taker no sells but Cena counters that no-selling. Taker goes for Snake Eyes but misses a boot. Taker escapes an F-U and tries a choke slam. HBK and Cena try a double team but Batista comes in to help clean house. They look to start fighting but Cena comes in to take Taker over the top. HBK sends Taker to the steps. Both of them are heels! Problem solved! Taker plays Deadman-in-peril for a while. Shawn chops away and manages to sneak in a neckbreaker. Cena tagged in and that leads to a slugfest. Taker gets in his Air Dead Man Flying Clothesline. Batista tags himself in and KOs Cena with a clothesline. Cena bulldogs Batista down and tags in HBK. Flying forearm takes down Batista. Taker tries a choke slam but opts for a boot instead. Spinebuster on Cena from Batista. Taker looks to press slam HBK out while Batista goes for the Batista bomb but it's A SWERVE and he tosses HBK onto Batista. Cena lays out Batista so HBK can delivering a flying elbow. Double Five Knuckle Shuffle!!! LMAO! SUPER KICK ON CENA!!! Batista crawls over for the pin. OK, that wasn't necessary. Oh, no, wait...I'm wrong. That automatically makes the build and match 100 times better!!! Match rating: *1/2 Could've been better but they either felt hindered by time or were just focusing on the ending. The psychology was also pretty goofy.

St. Jimmy 03-26-2007 11:01 PM

If Cena retains sunday, I cannot imagine the crowd reaction.

Ninti the Mad 03-26-2007 11:01 PM

This main event was awesome.

The crowd was electric and it was total nonstop action. :shifty:

KingofOldSchool 03-26-2007 11:02 PM

Cena will retain Sunday, I bet my life and my Pearl Jam bootlegs on it.

Shit, just realised that WrestleMania is starting at midnight on Sunday. I work until midnight. Bollocks.

What time does the Hall of Fame kick off on WWE.com? UK time?

They should've started a "THIS IS AWESOME!" chant after HBK's superkick.

Corndad 03-26-2007 11:03 PM

the crowd went nuts.

Ninti the Mad 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

LOL we came back for that?

Corndad 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

we waited for that????

Linkbowler 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

That was worth it.

St. Jimmy 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

What was the point of coming back to that?

NeanderCarl 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

That's it? Sat through a commercial break for a fucking replay?

Corndad 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

the hell was that?

ClockShot 03-26-2007 11:04 PM

That's it. That one clip. No backstage interview. Sheesh.

Have a good night everyone.

I could watch that for four hours straight while Wrestlemania is on Sunday.

M-A-G 03-26-2007 11:07 PM

Talk about major hype. I get the feeling WrestleMania is going to be one of those shows where the matches aren't that stellar but the bookers pull out some nice moments and surprises making it one of those shows where you either love it or hate it. The nice bit is that it has some unpredictability to it. Good show but next week will be the real test. I'm out.

Jeritron 03-26-2007 11:13 PM

Chicago fans are the best.

That Raw also is living proof that a brand split would be key to making the product better.

Ninti the Mad 03-26-2007 11:16 PM

I hope the wrestlers hopping shows increases ratings so it continues.

McLegend 03-26-2007 11:18 PM

That was perfect.

It was seriously awesome. I have always thought that ending the brand split would be a bit too clustered, but the more I see of it the more it works. You have Shawn Cena Taker and Cena main eventing still, and Edge and Orton. Booker and Benoit float around the second main event and uppermidcard. The hardys, london and kendrick.
CM Punk Kennedy Finlay and others make up your uppermidcard. Nitro and such.

It just seems as though it makes for a better show and it didn't seem overcrowded at all, plus with 2 shows a week you have more time to develop the surge of fueds and talent anyways.
And with ECW still as a seprate brand, you can strenghten that show with some more talent that doesn't get much exposure in teh brand split. Maybe even a strong name or two.

But let the shows merge like this. Let the CM Punks and Kennedys and nitros make up the midcard and have a solid second main event with a more stacked and diverse main event with interchangable names and pushes.
Then you can see who the true stars are.

PullMyFinger 03-26-2007 11:24 PM

LOL @ the huge face pop Shawn got for kicking Cena LMAO

Jeritron 03-26-2007 11:28 PM

I'm not gonna lie, the way things went down and the way the talent was divide throughout the card, and seeing the clear star midcard, uppermidcard, and main event in all their glory, this Raw really impressed me.

Not just because its prewrestlemania, but pound for pound start to finish the best overall Raw I've seen in a long long time.

Gotta love Chi-town. Hopefully theres a similar crowd in Detroit sunday.

Corkscrewed 03-27-2007 02:46 AM

Video on WWE.com isn't working for me. :(

thedamndest 03-27-2007 02:50 AM

I wish I had recorded this raw so I could play as a drinking game. Drink every time they said "Wrestlemania" "bald" "this Sunday" or had a flashback.

DAMN iNATOR 03-27-2007 02:32 PM

RAW Review:

RAW last night definitely had it's share of predictable moments as any RAW in the 6 days before a WrestleMania has had in the past, but there were a couple of decent moments during the show. Finding out that J.R. would be going into the HOF alongside his broadcast partner, The King was kinda cool, and despite some of your reactions to J.R. in the H.O.F. I found the crowd chanting J.R., and J.R. shedding a couple tears and waving to/high fiving the crowd was probably the most touching moment of the night. Also, the main event wasn't what it could have been if they'd just had a clean finish, and *then* Sweet Chin Music to Cena, but that's the way it goes, I guess. Funniest moment of the night for me was when J.R. mentioned during the Hardys v. Orton/Kennedy after Jeff's trip to the outside, that "Jeff Hardy just got a taste of our announce table, and it's not made out of barbecue sauce, it's a wood table..." LOL. Just proves that J.R. belongs in the Hall because he can be funny unintentionally, and he does a great job telling a story during the matches, and could probably make just about anybody feel the way he's feeling when he gets fired up during a match.
Overall Show: C-.

Road Warrior 03-27-2007 03:31 PM

Is it just me or was their heat between Kennedy and Orton after the match.

It was not a C- show. It's the best Raw in ages. Seriously, predictable moments? In wrestling?

Inadequacy 03-27-2007 05:57 PM

Ok, I seriously need a gif or video of Edge mocking Jeff Hardy's' dance.

J.R.: Professional wrestling is a sport, it's not bahgawd entertainment, it's serious competition between sweaty, scantily-clad men, fighting for superiority in the ranks of professional sports!

I'm not talking about obvious "building fo rthe match " heat, it seemed like Orton was pissed for the sort of botched ending.
