I guess it would be OK in theory, but I don't see how the two guys being gay would benefit their characters at all. Are these guys heels or faces? If they were heels and played it like gay Muhammad Hussans, that might actually work, but then there'd probably be an uproar from the gay community and they'd have to end the angle again.

ImpactPlayer365 04-17-2010 05:39 PM

Whats wrong with some people? Really...no common sense.

The uproar from the gay community over Hassan was brutal.

Anybody Thrilla 04-17-2010 06:57 PM

There was an uproar from the network and actual death threats to Hassan. You knew what I meant.

Of course I did.

Of course, the reason they killed the angle was the 7-7 subway bombings coinciding with an episode in which Hassan and a bunch of guys in commando attire attacked the Undertaker and Daivari was "martyred," and not so much objection to the gimmick itself.

Which is why I ridiculed what you said with the homosexuality crack, actually. It misses the point, yes, but only by the same margin with which you missed it.

But seriously, do you remember the last time an angle involving homosexuality, directly or indirectly, was canceled due to the outrage of gays? Even the joke that was Billy and Chuck still got...What's that word? Praise.

Huh.

It's almost like the notion of fan outrage is utterly ridiculous.

I'm sure you'll find a way to say "that's different," just as I'm sure you'll find a way to still attempt to contrast it with Hassan despite needing to leave out the catylist that caused them to pull the angle.

Unless you're worried that three weeks into the gay angle, a Pride terrorist is going to go blow up a local swap meet. Because yes, if gay terrorists wreck some shit during this angle, it could get ugly.

Anybody Thrilla 04-17-2010 07:11 PM

What I was thinking was if there were gay wrestlers on screen who constantly used their homosexuality as an excuse for being held down, it might cause an uproar. The only reason I even compared it to Muhammad Hassan was because he used his 'differences' in a similar fashion. There's been no gay uproar to that extent, but maybe that's because it's never been done.

Billy and Chuck weren't OPENLY gay. It was just strongly hinted at. They were praised when it was announced that they were going to do a same sex marriage on TV. When it was revealed that they weren't ACTUALLY gay, some people actually did get upset about it.

Sorry that I didn't state my original point so throughly the first time, but I didn't think it was a big deal. Thanks for trying to be your usual smart ass self though. Much obliged.

Just no.

Poit 04-17-2010 07:45 PM

While I wouldn't want to see two straight male wrestlers have an onscreen relationship, I would like to see a wrestler who just happens to be gay. Not a gimmick, not an angle - just a dude who doesn't exploit his sexuality.

AKin3D 04-17-2010 09:10 PM

I can't see it being taken serious, but toss Santino in there and you could have something.

The rainbow express wasn't too bad.

That's fine and all, but that just seems a bit...boring. If they're not exploiting it, then what's the point, really?

Also, think about the wrestling fans of today. A lot of them are children and probably aren't even really sure what it is to be gay. If they do, they're probably grossed out by it. Also, I dobut a lot of parents would be cool with a character like that being portrayed for their children. Maybe this would have been OK in the Attitude Era, but it doesn't seem like a move they would make today.

I figure it'd be the same as Vito being a transvestite. "So what if I wear a dress, I'll still kick your ass."

Just replace "wear a dress" with "like dudes".

They never really got over the gay jokes with that.

In order for it to get legit over, they can't really demean it in any way, whether they're heel or face. I don't think that's possible in wrestling.

Poit 04-17-2010 10:12 PM

I agree that it's very unlikely, but it's certainly possible. If the writers can have Triple H fuck the brains out of a corpse, they can avoid some gay jokes.

Actually, that joke more proves the opposite in how juvenile they are.

Poit 04-17-2010 10:16 PM

Heh, it was more of an example of what lengths the writers will go to.

But again, Hassan didn't get death threats, the network didn't oppose it, until after Hassan garrotted a babyface with his buddy carried off like a martyr on the same day as a terrorist attack in the UK. I already explained this, so I'm not sure why you think elaborating to explain something I clearly already got will change anything.

In fact, I predicted such a response:

Quote:

I'm sure you'll find a way to say "that's different," just as I'm sure you'll find a way to still attempt to contrast it with Hassan despite needing to leave out the catylist that caused them to pull the angle.
It's all well and good to compare it to the Hassan deal, but Hassan's differences weren't the issue. Not the one that got the angle pulled. Not the one that got the death threats.

It's unlikely similar circumstances will occur. Unless there is a terrorist attack by homosexuals on the same day they do something severe on the show, there is no real comparison here.

I'm sorry that you don't seem to get that, even after it was already explained to you.

A Cool Idea for what WWE can do with Kozlov and Regal.

Okay so these two arent doing much in the WWE now, so here is what I have come up with for them.
On an episode of Raw, Vince comes out and says that if Kozlov loses another match, he will be fired from the WWE and that will mean he will be deported from the US back to Russia. Kozlov gets angry, but in his match, he loses because Regal costs him the match!

Kozlov is really sad after it as fans chant "na na goodbye". Then we see Kozlov and Regal backstage. Kozlov stares at Regal, wipes a tear off his eye and says,
"WHY?!"

Regal smiles and says,

"Well Vladimir, youre fired from the WWE, but if you find another job, you can stay in the USA. I have an offer for you. I need a "personal" assistant, around the house and a "bodyguard" in the ring. I will pay you well and you will stay in my mansion!"

Kozlov looks angry but says, "OK".

For the next few weeks we get scenes of Kozlov doing chores in Regal's house. Finally, about a month later, Regal tells Kozlov that he wants him to do something else.

"I want you to dress up nicely"

And Regal brings out a maid's outfit and forces Kozlov to wear it!

Kozlov also wears the maids outfit during his matches. Sometimes after Kozlov wins a match or helps Regal win his match, they show Regal go backstage and give Kozlov a kiss on the cheek. Kozlov looks angry and confused. Regal calls him his "boi toy"

Everyone talks about how Kozlov is getting angry and angrier by the second, so this all leads up to an in-ring segment where Regal announces that it's time for Vlad to "Dress up nicely...again!". This time Regal forces Kozlov to take off the maid's uniform and Kozlov looks happy until Regal reveals his new outfit...A VICTORIAN ERA DRESS!

The fans expect Kozlov to destroy Regal as he stares at him. Suddenly Kozlov runs at Regal and instead of attacking him, he starts hugging and kissing Regal. Regal looks shocked and runs off. Kozlov reveals that he is in love with Regal. Later they reveal that Regal ran off not because he was upset but because he was really happy.

From then on, Kozlov continues to accompany Regal to matches.

What do u think?

I totally know where you're coming from, man. To this day I still hate Ted Dibiase for playing the Million Dollar Man. He wasn't rich in real life! Fucking bullshit.

Past gimmicks of current wrestlers u want to see again?

What wrestlers do you want to see return to a previous gimmick?

For example, somebody might want to see Luke Gallows be Festus again (although i doubt anyone will give that answer because Gallows is much better off as Gallows)

My answer is Mark Henry. I want to see him come back with the "sexual chocolate" gimmick, only this time, it is changed. Instead of chasing after girls, Henry now will chase after guys. It can start with him and MVP, lets say Henry offers MVP to go to a bar to celebrate them winning some big match and MVP says he is up to that. Then in the bar Henry slides up close to MVP and gently pets his head and says, "You know Montel, you're a good looking guy" and MVP looks confused and says, "Well yeah, thats why I'm ballin" and Henry smiles and looks into MVP's eyes. MVP gets freaked out and goes "Whats wrong with you" and Henry grabs MVP and kisses him and then says "You wanna feel good?" and tries to drag him to a hotel room.

this continues with Henry hitting on all the guys and eventually some guys fall for him and he can come out with a whole entourage of guys, who all cant resist "sexual chocolate".

Well, now you're ideas...

Why is Trish so loved?

I dont get this.

Whenever anyone mentions women wrestlers, Trish always comes up and everyone talks about how good she was and how she is a legend and the best and everyone seems to go crazy over her.

Now that Mickie has been released I see a lot of ppl remembering Trish because she and mickie had a storyline but it seems everyone remembers trish better than she was.

I mean lets face the facts, okay, Trish was a pretty good womans wrestler at the END of her carrier but she sucked at the beginning and was a boring manager for albert and test which was one of the worst tag teams of all time. Now people hate the divas who are just there as managers and guess what, thats what Trish was and everyone got crazy when she started wrestling and eventually became pretty good at it.

But she is not as legenedary as ppl seem to make her out to be. She was a good wrestler but nothing amazing and a lot of people seem to think she was like the most amazing woman wrestler and she wasnt. There were other good wrestlers like Chyna and Luna who were just as good or better, for example Chyna wrestled men and Trish did not which I think IMO, make Chyna better but she gets no respect while everybody seems to drop on their knees for Trish.

It makes no sense, maybe somebody here can shed some logic on me

You're out of your fucking mind. The fact that she was a great wrestler towards the end makes her even more respectable. She could have easily done nothing and relied on her looks like and still made a shit ton of money. She's one of the best popular mainstream women's wrestlers ever. And I honestly think her hotness bumped her up in some people's eyes. She was okay in the ring and pretty good towards the end of her career. But she pales in comparison to women in places like Shimmer and Japan.

I can't think of another feud with Trish that I really liked than those two, and I like both a shit ton better than Trish. In both skill and looks.

Xero 04-30-2010 10:52 AM

Neither of those stood out to me.

You also kinda like dudes though, so....

HBPunk is pretty much on point in this very thread.

Point taken.

Do feel Trish is overrated in terms of her in-ring stuff, but overall she's one of the best mainstream Divas ever and legitimately deserves a place in the HOF.

Xero 04-30-2010 11:02 AM

Completely agree. Neither reached Trish's height or popularity, neither were anywhere near as high profile as Trish. Better in-ring workers, but Trish is the better overall package.

Xero 04-30-2010 11:04 AM

It's similar to my opinion on The Rock. I hate his in-ring style, and let's face it, he did more gay and poop jokes than Cena ever could imagine, but in the end of the day, he's the better overall package than a lot of guys.

Anybody Thrilla 04-30-2010 11:06 AM

I don't consider Trish's work to be overrated. Thinking about the rest of the women's division during her run, I think she was just a cut above. Compare her work to the Diva's of today, and she's a female HBK.

Honestly, I feel Trish was somewhat of a pioneer...only not in a good way. Hear me out....

Back in the day, WWE would hire somebody like Jazz, Chyna, or Nicole Bass. Jazz could actually wrestle. Chyna and Nicole Bass were at least menacing. Even someone like Molly Holly who was sorta pretty (talk about overrated, holy fuck TPWW) could wrestle a pretty decent match, but she wasn't popping off the screen or anything.

Trish comes along. A former fitness model who was hot as fucking fuck but couldn't wrestle worth a lick. Through some hard work and dedication, she became a pretty fucking good worker (for a woman). I honestly think that Trish's transformation is what made the WWE think 'Well fuck, let's just hire hot chicks and they'll get good eventually, fuck the monster that can work', and the modern Diva was born. The only problem is, not as many women today give as much of a fuck as Trish did.

Xero 04-30-2010 11:08 AM

I completely agree with that.

Although I consider her work overrated compared to actual women's wrestlers. But compared to a "modern Diva", she's the Bret Hart to their Mass Transit.

This is the sexiest thing to ever happen in wrestling. Fuck outta here with that Lita/Victoria talk...

Meh.

parkmania 04-30-2010 11:24 AM

Trish was the perfect blend of beauty, work ethic, willingness to learn, natural talent, and love for the business - all in the right place at the right time.

Was she the most technical female wrestler? No, and definitely not at the beginning. But how many more divas have come along and been given as much if not more time to develop their skills and not even come close to the level Trish got to? Trish could "hang" with the likes of Lita, Ivory, Jazz, Chyna, Nicole Bass, and most others who had many more years of formal training than her.

Triple Naitch 04-30-2010 11:24 AM

Pretty sure I can see a nipple in that first pic.

The thing about Trish is that she got thrown into the WWE with no experience. She learned her skills on the fly and eventually became a top female wrestler. And she is bangin' hot.

Anybody Thrilla 04-30-2010 11:25 AM

Meh? Really? My blood is still boiling from seeing those when they originally aired, and it's been like ten years.

Even parkmania knows what he's talking about on this one.

Also, I think her mic skills were better than probably any mainstream American diva ever.

My god, Shotgun Saturday Night had no shame.

KIRA 04-30-2010 11:40 AM

.Because like it was stated above she busted her ass You could actually see her morph from generic eye candy blonde/piss break into a wrestler. I looked forward to seeing her matches which is something I can only say now with the TNA knockouts or select divas.

thedamndest 04-30-2010 11:43 AM

It was easy to get over back in the day if you stood around Albert. But luckily for her she stayed over by developing her own skills.

Anybody Thrilla 04-30-2010 11:43 AM

Please select one diva that you look forward to, just for curiosity sake.
