While mid air finishers are nice but they need to be limited to certain wrestlers like Randy Orton or Chris Jericho.

Kalyx triaD 05-30-2012 12:08 PM

Yeah whenever I hear stuff like that I can already imagine the top wrestlers doing it and them making no efforts to adapt the mechanic to other moves where it would make sense.

And not being able to design your own comeback (as easy as ordering three sequences) was something that blew my mind. I can already see how the interface would look like, you can't tell me developers paid to think that way didn't purposefully save that for the future. I'd otherwise believe them idiots.

#BROKEN Hasney 05-30-2012 12:21 PM

Not really "saved" as such, but unfinished. One of the many reasons why the yearly release schedule of this needs to die.

I bet Universe is still as unfinished as ever.

I think that after Legends of Wrestlemania, they are afraid of pulling out concept games. A shame really. I think the "2 in 1" concept would work if they released a game every other year. Then they could just keep us in check with DLC. Who knows what they will do.

Emperor Smeat 05-30-2012 04:47 PM

I think THQ is still making the arcadey side of their WWE series after Brawl or All-Stars 2 was teased months ago but got temporary stopped in order to work on WWE 13 and they barely have enough money left to work on the projects they currently have.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-30-2012 05:11 PM

Probably the last THQ WWE game. EA next year maybe.

Maya Bristow 05-30-2012 05:31 PM

But what if THQ do go under & EA doesn't wanna take the WWE game liscense?

#BROKEN Hasney 05-30-2012 05:34 PM

Then we all high-five each other as EA won't be able to sink it to new lows.

EA made the def jame games so it be a step up game play wise.

James Steele 05-30-2012 09:24 PM

The WWE license is a successful enough that a major studio will try and pick it up. It is a yearly title that a dedicated section of fans will buy every year.

Kalyx triaD 05-30-2012 09:27 PM

Give it to SEGA/2K Sports.

They also made WCW Backstage Assault. WCW Backdoor assault would have been a better more appropriate name.

Which were made by the people that brought you No Mercy. Who unfortunately don't exist anymore.

James Steele 05-31-2012 01:41 AM

When did AKI go out of business? I thought they made those Japanese wrestling games (King of Coliseum or something).

#BROKEN Hasney 05-31-2012 01:52 AM

Nah, that's Spike, the Fire Pro guys.

AKI might still be going, but they don't make wrestling games anymore and just make shovelware titles.

Fignuts 05-31-2012 02:32 AM

Just like spike.

Emperor Smeat 05-31-2012 03:30 AM

AKI changed its name to syn Sophia and according to Wikipedia, they've only been making handheld games for Japan only releases. Def Jam: Fight for NY was their last game to be released outside of Japan.

Spike still makes games but I think Fire Pro Returns was the last time they released a wrestling game.

Swish 05-31-2012 03:56 AM

Why are you lot always unhappy when they announce new shit?

This looks pretty Bad Ass, specially with the attitude era, we are finally getting
what we have been wanting, but in the game universe.

WWE 12, was good, I think they need to sort out the control setup.
Smackdown for the PS1 was awesome.

As for No Mercy for the N64 I actually think Wrestlemania 2000
was the better hyped game for this.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-31-2012 04:15 AM

They should make a collection of all the old games and improve the graphics on them if they can.

Do sort of like a HD Collection like Metal Gear and Devil May Cry did.

I did not see it in this entire thread, only rumored rosters.

And anytime bro.,

Dark-Slicer Diago 05-31-2012 02:37 PM

That list is on page 3, and at this point it is only speculation as the game is still in Alpha stages.

Wait a few more years until they can get everyone for a full game, imo.

I hadn't thought about the guys in TNA. Damn.

Oh....hell no. I don't wanna see THQ do that, besides they might tamper with them alot and make the older Smackdown games (like the first 4) really simulator like and put in all the current roster.

No thanks

The Mackem 05-31-2012 05:19 PM

Maya - can you please not swear in the VG Forum?

#BROKEN Hasney 05-31-2012 05:44 PM

I agree with Maya purely because there are HD packs for No Mercy. Hell; some of them even update the roster and movesets.

Alright I won't. Just wanted to get something off my chest about the very idea of THQ doing a collection of the early Smackdown games & pulling a George Lucas and change what made those games fun

I remember when Attitude came out, I thought it was the greatest videogame I'd ever played.

i did too. mainly because you could wrestle as head.

FourFifty 06-01-2012 01:09 AM

This should go without saying, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way...
I don't understand why on earth WWE/THQ released the roster this soon. I could understand leaking it slowly to build up hype. Give a few people who are "Well no shit" people (Cena, Triple H, CM Punk), throw in a few "M'eh" people (The Bella Twins, Kane, Jack Swagger) and then from time to time put someone from the attitude era out there. Seeing the "full roster" will make it a bit of a let down when it comes out.

I loved the Create-An-Arena feature (glad that was back in WWE '13) and the audio and original themes/names. Beating up The Rock and hearing The Rock say "Ow. Damn!"

Fignuts 06-01-2012 12:57 PM

Yeah, loved the voice work, in that game.

D Mac 06-01-2012 01:15 PM

I remember when Attitude came out I stayed up all night and called in to work the next day.

James Steele 06-01-2012 03:30 PM

I remember laughing at making a bright neon arena and then get pissed when I couldn't do the combo fast enough to do the Pedigree.
