Bad News Gertner 07-30-2013 02:45 AM

JBL's run at that late in his career was amazing.he was so friggen obnoxious, plus he was a bad ass. My favourite wrestler of all time.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-30-2013 05:42 AM

Chill out there FourFifty

Bad News Gertner 07-30-2013 06:14 AM

Fourfifty hated JBL. It's a well known fact.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-30-2013 06:54 AM

JS you are like one of 5 people who ejoyed HHH's run in the early-mid 2000s. 3 of those 5 people were HHH, Steph and Vince.

Lock Jaw 07-30-2013 11:22 AM

I enjoyed most of it.

I was there for that Rumble match, thanks for reminding me about that

SlickyTrickyDamon 07-30-2013 12:15 PM

Was going to get tickets to that Royal Rumble for Christmas, but didn't. Whooo didn't have to see that.

Innovator 07-30-2013 12:26 PM

That match made the already amazing Angle/Benoit match seem 100x better.

James Steele 07-31-2013 07:29 AM

Hanso, I never said JBL had a bad run you stupid mother fucker. I just said HHH's heel run was better.

Bad News Gertner 07-31-2013 07:30 AM

Nope, it was terrible. We win.

No need to get so grumpy just because everyone is insulting HHH.

Maybe this post was in jest, but saying this seems to me like you are saying his run wasnt great.

HHH in 2003-2005 was basically Jarrett in TNA from 2003-2008. Horrible, pushing down the throat of a Heel that no one cares about.

Hanso Amore 07-31-2013 08:32 AM

HHH was the least appealing arc of Evolution. Flair, Bats and Orton were fucking amazing. HHH was just meh.

Seriously HHH's worst years were 2003/2004. Before and after he was at his best.

not to mention JBL has/had 60/80lbs on him. "Fat" and big is "get-awayable" with. "Fat" and skinny is not.

Bad News Gertner 07-31-2013 09:10 AM

JBL had also been with the company for ages and had established himself as a big, tough brawler.

Hanso Amore 07-31-2013 09:57 AM

We should change this to a JBL appreciation thread. The Best Heel Champion of the 2000s.

I agree with you there.
That whole era felt lazy and predictable to me - it seemed like HHH was content to just coast through every match until Evolution interfered and helped him win.

But yeah, like you said, before and after were pretty good, I particularly enjoyed HHH's work during the Mcmahon-Helmsley era, it seemed to bring out the best in him.

Slater was so fucking gold during that

ron the dial 07-31-2013 11:40 AM

god damn that is such a gross clothesline.

Lock Jaw 07-31-2013 11:41 AM

Rollermacka needs to study JBL and his clothesline.

I refuse to lump JBL's glorious lariat in with Randy Orton's and RVD's respective clotheslines.

Evolution doesn't/wouldn't have at all worked without Triple H. He also pretty much single-handedly made the "worst" guy in the group a megastar from the ruins of the rushed Orton ascent. He did pretty much everything a top heel leading a faction is supposed to do and did it pretty well.

Innovator 07-31-2013 12:05 PM

Just got sidetracked by youtubing Stan Hansen and ended up watching Stan Hansen vs. Hogan in 1990. Nice.

This is a factual statement.

Lock Jaw 07-31-2013 12:08 PM

Anyways, to stay on topic: Kassius Ohno or something.

I just never dug him. I agree that without the top guy in HHH the group doesnt work, and he did put Bats over - the Batista feud was amazing and where he turned back into Top notch HHH. Just feel like during the whole Evolution run HHH was Meh while the rest of the group was stellar. Im sure he played a huge role in mentoring them and making them stars, as did flair, but his on screen performance was still meh to me.

Slater sold that like a champ.

Btw JBL's Clothesline From Hell > Stan Hansen's Lariat. Half of Hansen's Lariat's were shoulder block with hiis arm sticking out.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-31-2013 09:33 PM

Can't ignore the camera work on that JBL clothesline there either. We as the audience essentially move with JBL's momentum. Pretty much everything works really well in that one little spot.

Shisen Kopf 07-31-2013 09:42 PM

Guys, let us not forget that Karl Malone rassled. One of the great clotheslines ever

I can't imagine what it must feel like to take. Clothesline From Hell. Seems like it'd suck big time.

Fignuts 08-01-2013 12:04 AM

Feel like Triple H established credibility to the world heavyweight title.

Dark One 08-01-2013 12:50 AM

In the interest of making this a JBL Appreciation Thread, behold the greatest night in hsi career.
